Brian Eno - One Minute Warning Lyrics

A lonesome soul
In an old black boat
A lonesome frown
What a way to go
Chasing though

The strings to hold
In an old black coat
A lonesome soul
A lonesome soul
A lonesome soul

Brian Eno One Minute Warning Comments
  1. t.... ....

    U2/ENO. 👊🔥

  2. p.... ....

IN A BLACK BOAT? WITH A BLACK COAT? FROWNING AND HOLDING STRINGS?

  3. R.... S....

Bono deservedly gets shit for his 'billionaire saving the world' silliness, but he can make some damn good music

    R.... S....

Lets not forget that U2 is a band and that Eno was involved here too

    R.... S....

Why is it silly for billionaires to try and save the world?

  4. o.... b....

La rivolta di un popolo nell'era tecnologica.

  5. L.... ....

The purists don't like this song. I understand why; it doesn't fit in with the rest of soundtrack. it's slightly jarring to hear straight after the contemplative ending. But it's still a good song in its own right and still ties in with Ghost in the Shell in its own way

    L.... ....

well said. It's a bit sad to blindly value everything original over alternatives. especially since anime end theme soundtracks are very often crappy pop songs with poor writing.

    L.... ....

I thought it matched the movie perfectly. The concept of human evolution in a world of rapidly changing technology combined with the question of what it means to be alive, it's appropriate that the music, particularly at the end, should not fit in.

  6. B.... ....

    Bombstrap

  7. U.... U....

    Cyberpunk 101

  8. J.... K....

I listen to this again and again.

    J.... K....

    Me too...

  9. N.... S....

Blew my mind when I found out this is actually from U2 and Brian Eno!

  10. m.... ....

The asian distribution of Ghost In The Shell uses different ending song.

  11. E.... ....

    suck this hollywood

  12. g.... ....

Astonishing! Bring the 90s sound back dawg, we miss you :)

  13. t.... ....

Fucks sakes hollywood has tarnished this..

    t.... ....

migol1984 I dunno, I think it's a bit harsh to simply say it's a bland action movie and that the studios ruined it all. Like I said, it's a new interpretation of what the story is capable of, one that came from a movie director 23 years after the original. And like I said, the movie had to be made for a wider mass appeal in order to get the business rolling. So I can totally understand people being upset about how different it is from the original, which I can absolutley understand, the original is a masterpiece. But it's not meant to be exactly the movie we've seen 23 years ago and that's what has to be taken into consideration. Compared to the original, the remake fails. However, one can say that on it's own, it's a great looking and nice little action movie. I bet, if that movie just wasn't called Ghost In The Shell, the criticism would have been way lower.

On another note, I wonder when an 'Akira' movie will ever come out. Or how about 'Princess Mononoke'? Or you know what, ANY Studio Gipsy Anime would be fine to me.
Just hope it's not... Death Note.

    Oh lord.

    t.... ....

i'm not saying it's bland. i never said that. it was a decent film. it was though very formulaic. that's not even my opinion... that is an inherent fact. if that makes it bland, then i guess so. but what is important to really get out of this are a couple of things... 1. the themes the original film tackled weren't even referenced in the live action film and 2... the atmosphere that makes the original the classic appeal that it became is nonexistent in the live action film. all the things that make the first the legendary work that it is, actually makes the live action feel more like we're watching a cartoon and the original feels real. the live action is easily forgettable. albeit, a decent action flick comparable to just about any other action film released year after year. no one will remember the 2017 live action film like a true classic the way we do the original. if you are basically narrowing down my assessment as the remake merely being "bland" then that's fine too. but i'm not necessarily calling it bland. it was still pretty to look at. i just think that for one, the film was supposed to be so much more darker and secondly, it didn't make me think at all. the universe that ghost in the shell is set in, in my more sincerest opinion, is so much more interesting than the matrix and blade runner universe.

    t.... ....

Haven't watched the 2017 film yet, but are you saying they redid "One Minute Warning" at some point in that film? I hope they didn't touch either "Inner Universe" or "Rise" which are the opening themes for Season 1 and 2 of Stand Alone Complex!

    t.... ....

+TheDarkElmStreetLagoon he's referring to the movie remake, not this song.

    t.... ....

@TheDarkElmStreetLagoon No, it's not in the soundtrack, it would have fit perfectly tho

  14. t.... ....

this album is coming up to 22 years old. way way way wayyyy ahead of its time... unbelievable !!

  15. O.... B....

OH MY GOD OF COURSE IT'S BRIAN ENO WHO DID THIS. DUDE IS EVERYWHERE/ GREAT

    O.... B....

Orig Bootleg dude is a true legend

  16. H.... D....

my favorite ost in ghost in the she

  17. B.... M....

Holy cow. I've never heard that song. I watched GitS when it first came out on VHS in 1995 or 1996. I think we must have gotten the subtitled version, cuz this song wasn't on it. Only Kenji Kawai's work was. In my 25-year love affair with this movie, I have never heard this. Not sure what to make of it.

    B.... M....

+Brent Millis It plays in the final credits. Possible that your copy has a different song over them?

    B.... M....

It appears this song was used in the dubbed releases, which I never saw.

    B.... M....

Yes it was the dubbed version that had the song. In my opinion, it is far better than the original song they used for the credits. This song is fucking awesome. But i understand the pangs of nostalgia.

    B.... M....

I had the 1998 Special Edition VHS from Manga Entertainment which had the dubbed version of the film with this song playing at the end. I had been a fan of U2 for years at that point and imagine how mind-blown I was to know they worked on this song! Brian Eno was and still is to this day a very prominent producer in the music world having worked with U2 and David Bowie among many others!

  18. L.... D....

Love this song; U2 hasn't made a song with Edge on vocals since this one......it's time for another Edge lead vocal.....

    L.... D....

Laurence Dunne true that is. u2 n brian eno should experiment like they did on this and zooropa again.. also van diemens land and numb are f'ing amazing !!

    L.... D....

Laurence Dunne have you heard the soundtrack to a film called Captive?

    L.... D....

I don't think it was U2 in its entirely, mainly Brian Eno.

    L.... D....

Thornbloom no it was from the Passengers OST1 album, which was all four band members plus Brian eno

  19. b.... ....

even u2 can't ruin this one.

    b.... ....

bevrosity lol. dude this record is a million years away..

  20. K.... Y....

Anyone else's noticed the music similarity with Ghost movie and Akira movie?

    K.... Y....

Man, this song is from Ghost In The Shell movie. Plays during end titles.

    K.... Y....

This track wasn’t composed for the GitS movie, but it bears small resemblance to Akira ost

    K.... Y....

+Nial Iwakura Actually, it was composed for GitS. I'm willing to bet U2/Eno were inspired by Akira's Kaneda's theme when they wrote it.

    K.... Y....

    LoLzZ85  Really? Interesting.

    K.... Y....

I actually like Akira more than this movie and also like Ninja Scroll more

  21. K.... ....

Don't get why they replaced Reincarnation from the Japanese dub with this piece of crap. Guess Manga wanted to appeal to the MTV Generation crowd.

    K.... ....

    @Klonoa7H
I have listened to parts of the English dub in the Ebert/Siskel review and from what little I've heard, Kusanagi's voice is _horrible._ I can tell she's a good actress but the vocal direction is all wrong. It's not just a different voice, it's not even the same character.

So I was fully intent on watching the sub, which I did, but the copy I watched is the one that replaces this song regardless of which audio track you use. So my favorite combo is Japanese voices + this song in the credits.

And since I've heard it that way first, I've just realized that I hadn't had the chance to experience Reincarnation timed properly with the credits, so I might be biased, but what's even more important, since you have apparently watched GITS with Reincarnation, we perceive the ending differently and _we want different things from it._ No wonder we've been arguing. :)

    K.... ....

Well, the first time I saw the film, it was the dub, and because I watched the dub and it was the old Manga DVD with terrible interlacing and letter boxing, I couldn’t really appreciate it at the time. Then a few years later when I became more versed in anime, I watched it subbed with Japanese audio and though it was amazing, one of my favourite anime films now. I also felt Reincarnation was more fitting to the ending because with this Brain Eno track, it feels abrupt and thrown in at the last minute.

    K.... ....

Klonoa7H this track is totally fitting.. have a listen to the whole record. it's absolute genius and ahead of its time. you'll hear elements of genres which are prominent today.. u2+brian eno = blown away

    K.... ....

yawn, you weaabos sure are a persistent bunch of cretins

    K.... ....

    @Zontar82
    Damn right

  22. N.... C....

I think it's remarkably skilled because it's about Motoko.

  23. i.... ....

    Who said I don't?

  24. a.... f....

    that's freaky. I only masturbate

  25. i.... ....

For some reason, I picture dancing dolls when listening to this song.

  26. c.... ....

Y cant this song b on itunes :( i wanted this on my ipod for a long time dammit...

  27. c.... ....

if that's really written specifically for the movie, and considering who the "lonesome soul" in the "old black coat" is, it is is either remarkably skilled or prudish to put it like that....

  28. J.... 1....

Just watched the movie for the second time-it's amazing how spectacular a film it is-and this song fits it perfectly

  29. O.... ....

One of my all time favorite films by far.

  30. M.... O....

It sounds like Autechre, maybe less dynamic.
    Kenji Kawai can sleep peacefully...

  31. E.... S....

    brings back memories! simply awesome!

  32. T.... ....

I got this movie from an old friend of mine on a VHS when I was 14 or 15 and I couldn't quit watching this movie, along with Akira and Perfect Blue. I still have the VHS of GITS as a matter of fact. It's the special edition with the 30 minute making-of documentary at the end of the movie.

  33. D.... ....

Where does the newborn go from here? The net is vast and infinite.

  34. A.... ....

@shioriryukaze Stand-Alone Complex is not the same universe as the Oshii films.

  35. s.... ....

    @Capric0rn smh.... Inserting fail plug......now :)

  36. J.... ....

@shioriryukaze I quote "If those lyrics don't describe Motoko to a tee, i don't know what does. In a way, it touches each person involved in Section 5." - That's what you said :P And no problem :)

  37. s.... ....

@Capric0rn Did i ever say that it was section five? someone asked me what track was playing when they were deep diving.... and I said track five.. sorry for the slip up if I did

  38. J.... ....

    @shioriryukaze Section 5? :P They're all in Public Security Section 9.

  39. s.... ....

@mptyyegdlc There are rumors, but the problem is who will take it? Funimiation is the only one putting anime out anymore. Wish more companies would step up and put out quality anime. To answer the 3rd movie, that has been released. Its called Solid State Society. You find out that the major is suspected in some conspiracy, but she is still rogue. togusa has taken her place as head and this movie i think takes place 2 or 3 years after GITS :Innocence. Wonderful music and movie by the by.

  40. L.... S....

    @crowbarblue same here XO

  41. C.... ....

    @BlackAngel7980

what do you think is better the seasons or the movie?

  42. s.... ....

@BlackAngel7980 my first anime that I watched was Nausica: Valley of the Wind. A Miazaki classic :) I've been collecting anime since I was 16.

  43. s.... ....

@Ajmauritz If those lyrics don't describe Motoko to a tee, i don't know what does. In a way, it touches each person involved in Section 5. Masterful movie, series and patiently awaiting the 3rd release of this series. Still going strong and like the description says under the movie...still ahead of its time.

  44. A.... ....

    A lonesome soul
    In an old black boat
    A lonesome frown
    What a way to go
    Chasing though
    The strings to hold
In in an old black coat
    A lonesome soul
    A lonesome soul
    A lonesome soul

  45. G.... ....

This really fits into Ghost in the Shell, and I'm surprised it wasn't in the original Japanese soundtrack. I mean, the percussion sounds like Kenji Kawai and even those baby glitch voices sound like Major Kusanagi.

  46. s.... ....

@JAYCZero not off the subject.... the original OST actually kind of follows the movie so go to amazon.com and look up the track list. I know virtual crime is the song playing when motoko and batou is talking before ghost city (track five) and so it could be access or nightstalker. wonderful ost

  47. J.... W....

Its on the passengers soundtrack..its U2 with Brian Eno and this song is about 15 years old..way before its time, thats why U2 is Brilliant

  48. d.... ....

I was kind disappointed that I couldn't find it on the original soundtrack, now I know why. Cool stuff :)

  49. c.... ....

I feel like shit for not watching this movie earlier. :(

  50. A.... ....

listen to the other songs ive uploaded my favourites! hf

  51. u.... ....

    same here

  52. u.... ....

brilliant song...for a very fun movie

  53. x.... ....

Oh wow - my mistake, I meant MAJORITY of his works. I know the ending of GITS2 had a nice english song at the end.
Yeah - I've not only seen it all (GITS - movies, series and read mange), I own it all.

  54. x.... ....

It's just the ending that fits with the english dub version. Oshii never puts in english songs in his own work.

  55. S.... ....

It's about damn time somebody uploaded this on youtube. XD Believe it or not, I've been looking for this since "Whisper of the Beast" came out, that famous Naruto AMV.
    Lame, huh? XD

  56. d.... ....

    coolio XD

  57. I.... K....

Weird how I just thought about that track and you posted it at the same day. LOL!
