Brenda Lee - Dum Dum Lyrics
A dum dum a deedely dum uh huh huh a dum dum a deedely dum oh yeah
A dum dum a deedely dum
A music's sweet the lights are low playin' a song on the radio
Your ma's in the kitchen your pa's next door I wanna love you just a little bit more
Singing dum dum a deedely dum uh huh dum dum a deedely dum
Come on baby don't you be so shy you know that I love you let me tell you why
You got a heart I know that it's true I couldn't love you any more than I do
A singing dum dum a deedely dum oh yeah dum dum a deedely dum
One more time dum dum a deedely dum
Ah I want you with me all of the time tell me you love me and you'll be mine
There's so many things that we could do
So say the words and make my dreams come true
A singing dum dum...

This hit from Brenda Lee went to #4 on the Top 40 charts. It also hit #4 on the Cash Box charts and in Australia. It went to #22 in the United Kingdom. It would finish at #91 for the year, 1961. We are counting down the Top 100 hits of 1961. Who will be #1? Will Percy Faith repeat? Or will someone else take the torch ? Stay tuned.
Until today, I always skipped this song. But this is hot her saying "I want to love you a little bit more" In a sex kitten voice.
My very first record I remember. I was about 3 years old. I'm in tears right now. My mom and dad used to play this for me so l would dance. First song I remember dancing to. I see them laughing and cheering me on. Thank you so much for posting this. Great family time. Thank you Mommy and daddy for being such great parents. I will see you again some day.
Now a post like this deserves some notation.. personnel, arranger ? !!!, there is a shit load going on here.. and I wanna know who we are really listening to.. Very R and B.. listened to and loved by a very white audience.. I had forgotten entirely how damn good this was !
The Nashville 'A' Team: Boots Randolph (sax), ;Hank Garland and Grady Martin (guitars), Floyd Cramer (organ), Harold Bradley (electric bass), Joe Zinkan (double bass), Doug Kirkham or Buddy Harman(drums), The Anita Kerr Singers. They would arrange it between themselves.
CANT BELIEVE 5 THUMPS DOWN,
ignore the aliens.. their planet died.
Methinks they protesth too much.
Dynamite!!!
Recuerdo que Paulina Rubio hizo un cover de este tema, en la novela de baila conmigo.
Ahead of her time
Heard this song the other day on my new Sirius XM radio, listening to the 50's music station... great song... harp players, the song is in the key of Db... get your your F# (low tuned is best), play along (in 2nd position/crossharp), and have some fun !
airmojo hola
I just found out this was a '61 hit.
Great number that takes me back lots of years. I saw her live in Adelaide in the very early sixties...I think it was with Bobby Rydell. The backing group on this recording is so tight...great sax solo, organ riff, and a very Chet Atkinsy guitar at the end.
what a great ruff sexy voice loved her as a kid and still do now
Brenda was one of my favorite singers many years ago and I still like listening to her music. Thank you for the pleasure of enjoying this great music.
