Bread - Let Your Love Go Lyrics

There's a reason for the life that you live
And there's a pleasin' that I know you can give
And I've been cravin'
The love you've been savin'
So baby, won't you give it to me

You're telling me no, no, no
You don't want to let your love go
I'm telling you yes, yes, yes
You really ought to be getting some happiness

I've made a motion and it's out on the floor
And it's a notion that I'd love to explore
'Cause I've been tastin'
The love you've been wastin'
So baby, won't you give it to me

You're telling me no, no, no
You don't want to let your love go
I'm telling you yes, yes, yes
You really ought to be getting some happiness

You're a lady
And I'm here in the palm of your hand
Such a lady
How much more do you think I can stand

You're telling me no, no, no
You don't want to let your love go
I'm telling you yes, yes, yes
You really ought to be getting some happiness

You're telling me no, no, no
You don't want to let your love go
I'm telling you yes, yes, yes
You really ought to be getting some happiness

Bread Let Your Love Go Comments
  1. G.... L....

    This is MAGA country music

  2. C.... C....

    Hell yeah

  3. D.... L....

The other members of Bread were a little unsure about how their fans would react to such a rocking song so they decided to add a harpsichord to it.

  4. N.... ....

The people of 2019 probably find this song too sexually aggressive.

  5. N.... L....

Bread rules!! Loved them since i was a young girl in the early 70's!!

  6. J.... W....

I thought this was Paul Revere and the raiders for years.

  7. T.... D....

Great rock song by a band that was known notoriously for their soft music. They never got the credit they deserved for this jewel. I raise a glass in a toast to all who are still listening today !

  8. N.... M....

    Let's get this bread

  26. B.... D....

    Great song!

  27. R.... P....

I like both this one and 'Mother Freedom' which were the only two rock songs that I remember from Bread. At first, I thought it was a different band when I heard it back in 8th grade. Too bad these singles weren't bigger hits. I think that their fan base preferred their soft rock sound. I can hear Bread's influence in Air Supply 10 years later.

  28. 4.... ....

Paul Revere and the Raiders???? Sounds very 1967-68. Heard it for the first time a few months ago, pretty awesome.

  29. D.... M....

Not surprisingly, this didn't hit Billboard's Easy Listening chart.

  30. A.... ....

This is MY ALL TIME FAVORITE BREAD SONG!! WHOO-HOO!!

  31. B.... T....

Terrific Power Pop tune!!  Big Star was probably jealous!! I don't think Alex Chilton could've written it any better!!! Bravo David Gates & Bread!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!! #BREAD #POWERPOP

  32. F.... B....

First heard this hit in 1970 and I thought it was The Raiders the lead sounded like Mark Lindsay, front man for Paul Revere and the Raiders.

  33. D.... L....

Omg...I finally found it. Couldn't remember the name..just some lyrics.
    Love it!!!

    D.... L....

Same here. I have tried to find it for years but somehow got it on my first try today. Love the beat.

  34. J.... G....

this is a very cool song

  35. P.... R....

love this song first heard it when i was 17 still love it@@@!

  36. S.... F....

    The Super Seventies !

  37. K.... ....

Great band. Whenever I look at the picture of them beaming out of the cover of "Best of Bread", it pains me to think that only two of the original members are still with us.

  38. g.... ....

Amazing rock by Bread,  Classic and timeless.

  39. C.... H....

I heard { Let Your Love Go } on Mesquite Schools Radio 88.5 Fm KEOM circa September 1984 today.
The old jingle used to go ( Your listening to Mesquite Schools radio 88.5 Fm Keom Mesquite Texas!)

    t.... ....

    Love the station {Live near the Galleria Dallas}

    t.... ....

Glad you are enjoying the station. In 1985 I lived off Dallas Parkway south of Beltline.
I used to be a fan of 106.1 and 103.7.and the old KODZ.

  45. J.... G....

What a gem of a tune

  46. m.... ....

I don't know who played the drums on this track but what a great performance, especially the quick foot work on the kick. This is one of those songs that inspired me to start playing drums. This drummer should have gotten a grammy for Best Recorded Preformance in my book.

    m.... ....

    Mike Botts

    m.... ....

@padfolio: Which one is Mike Botts in the photo?

    m.... ....

Bottom left, the guy with the moustache

    m.... ....

Drummer Mike Botts was the 1st to pass away. Only one left now is David Gates.

    m.... ....

@jeff redmon, second actually. Jimmy Griffin passed in January of 2005; Mike in December (the day after his birthday).

  47. D.... N....

    and I do! Thank you!

  48. M.... W....

One of my favorite Bread songs.

  49. M.... W....

One of my favorite Bread songs.

  50. k.... w....

love this song, a rareity, a bread rocker

  51. J.... W....

great bread song, sometimes you have to let your love go. david gates could just sing great songs.

  52. M.... C....

Nice to hear old tunes from my younger years. I try to keep up with my kids music but sometimes you just need to look back a little. Love to tune in while I do house work.

  53. B.... T....

Great to hear this song again!

  54. s.... ....

Guess that's one thing about being older - not only did I live the 70s but I got to see Bread in concert. They rocked too!

    s.... ....

    jealous

    s.... ....

    skeptic313 lucky

    s.... ....

YOu are one of the lucky few to see them in concert. Though I loved them when they were in their heyday, I was too young to see them.

    s.... ....

Looking back of the same era, I wish I had seen more concerts.

But I did see half a Pink Floyd concert (1975 WYWH tour.) Wrecked my car on the way. So an $8 ticket & a $250 car but still worth it.

    s.... ....

I can only imagine the energy.

I'm 33 years old. I found Bread via finding how much I liked our local "oldies" station.

I bought the CD when I was in High School, so literally 30 years past when my Dad would have embraced them.

For them to have caught me at 15/16 years old was pretty special.

  55. J.... T....

    One of their very best!

  56. G.... M....

I read the comments, and I'm glad I'm not the only one who loved this song!!!!! There were people who didn't like the soft rock of the 70's. It takes all kinds of music to make the world go round. This song was different from Breads other hits, a real rocker!!! The message in the song is as true today as it was when the song was new. I have the hots for you babe, give me a chance!!!! You got babes walk in around in their fort Knox jeans, and their C.F.M. barb wire mini skirts, and they have restraining order under panties on!!!! What good is it if you don't do something with it!!! Stop teasing me and do something!!! Make love to me not your cell phone. Come on girls be human for a change!!!! Give a guy a chance!!!! Love thrills, celibacy kills!!!  This song says it all...! Check out momma had hot pants, and girls weren't design to pump iron, on U. tube. Thanks, Gary!!!!!

    G.... M....

    LMAO!!!  Right-on, bro!

  57. M.... R....

Does anyone have the album "On The Waters"  I am looking for "I am that I am" These classic Bread songs are awesome. Thanks for sharing.

    M.... R....

Cool, I will check for the song I am, it is one of my favorite tunes.

    M.... R....

I have tried every way of search and all I get is a religious response.. thanks for trying to help

    M.... R....

    @Mark Richardson Yes

    M.... R....

+Mark Richardson You can access it on Spotify. Good album, but then they all were.

  58. t.... c....

    dan... ty... ty..........

  59. K.... G....

Gary is right, not only is this the best song Bread ever made, it is the ONLY good song they ever made. I have the original. Regardless on whether a band is usually crap or not, a good song is a good song.

    K.... G....

+Anki Hansen Same here Anki, It's a shame Bread didn't do more like this and Mother Freedom. They were so damn good at the "heavier stuff".

    K.... G....

+heavypsych666 Very true my friend....The thing with bands that are not really rockers as such, is that they record a song that is totally different, and also so much better then anything else they had done before, but they don't know it, because they don't recognise the strength of the melody they have just created. The best example of this is Edwin Collins and 'Never met a girl like you before', a great song, but all his other songs were crap.

    K.... G....

+Keith Gordon That doesn't matter, Bread made beautiful ballads and you can enjoy that, don't be a closed-minded metalhead

    K.... G....

Within your last word is my reply, I am a metalhead, so therefore would not be a likely admirer of mushy ballads, unless they had a metal twist to them, for example Dreamer/Deceiver by Judas Priest. I therefore cannot enjoy them. I do however enjoy Let your love go.

    K.... G....

I have to say that although Bread are known for there Ballads. They also did plenty off Rockers. Mother Freedom 'Down on My Knees' Fancy Dancer ' Truckin' Blue Satin Pillow. And many others Keith

  60. A.... J....

    thanks for sharing

  61. G.... ....

The best song Bread ever recorded. Which is saying something because it's got some heavy competition!

    G.... ....

They have another upbeat one called "Freedom"

    G.... ....

    And Down On My Knees.

  62. H.... G....

    To hhj93play

Doesn't sound like the Raiders to me.

Plus Marc Lindsay had already left the Raiders by the early 1970's.

  63. R.... S....

one of my fave's... my sis got me into bread, i am 5 years younger than her and love the memories.

  64. T.... M....

it will have to be on a different playlist tho. this ones full

  65. T.... M....

sorry for the late reply, ive been out of state. i will be happy to post that for you. david gates rocked

  66. M.... ....

This band was the shi*t back then!

  67. H.... M....

Bread channeling their inner Paul Revere and the Raiders.

  68. r.... y....

Hi.. loved it and once owned "mana" but gone now.... do you, can you, please upload "She's a good girl" from mana as I'd love to hear it... thank you

  69. M.... ....

Love this band, the songs are simply timeless

  70. a.... ....

Bread songs only made it to the radio if they:

    1) were slow ballads,

    2) had no risque or controversial content at all, and

    3) were written by David Gates.

  71. J.... B....

only David Gates is still surviving amongst this line up

    J.... B....

Original member Robb Royer is still alive also!!

  72. M.... ....

Another 45 I used to play repeatedly...I wonder if "The Babys" were influenced by Bread~

  73. G.... M....

That was my favorite cut of the album. It's like a deja vu' thing for me. Back before life's journey was set and played out.

  74. D.... W....

Too bad that Bread only scored higher with their softer songs. Definitely should've peaked higher than #28, right, gang? God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! Have a blessed weekend!

  75. 2.... ....

I LOVE this song. For some reason, this song neutralizes my sad feelings about missing this girl that I VERY MUCH LOVE...Nicole♥♥

  76. T.... G....

@greatbigbubby Speak for yourself I've been 29 for 23 years. lol

  77. c.... b....

I love this one! It is such a departure from there ballads(Which I love) They could rock when they wanted to!

  78. T.... ....

Ungwöhnlich guter harder Sound von Bread. Der einzige, der wirklich gut ist von dieser Band

  79. g.... ....

I always thought this was Paul Revere and the Raiders!!....sounds just like Mark Lindsey and the Raiders style.

  80. t.... ....

    this needs a replay ! 0:00

  81. J.... L....

    @spacepatrolman Stale? LOL! Good one!

  84. 9.... ....

@spacepatrolman Good point!!! Wonder if they'd eventually be known as Toast or maybe Zwieback?

  85. J.... ....

Back when any song over two and a half minutes was frowned upon by the radio stations,,, and on top of that they had their turntables cranked up to play them even faster. Great time to grow up in. 8-)

  86. b.... ....

The incredible Bread wrote some great songs, and James Griffin made sure they rocked a bit also! Bread is one great band that is highly under-rated! Peace and Love, BobbyK

  87. S.... S....

Thank you for posting!! This one and "Mother Freedom" showed they weren't just balladeers....they were really underrated.

  88. h.... ....

I LOVE!!!! LOVE!!!! Love this song!!!!!!! Bread were just GREAT! I was just a little kid when they had their big hits... but my goodness... it's a love that has lasted a lifetime let me tell you! Thanks for posting!

  89. D.... C....

I was listening to this song earlier today (well trying to, dusted down my old turntable but the vinyl itself is a bit scratched.) Yeah good song , it appeared on their mega selling UK release The Sound Of Bread. Cheers for posting.

  90. J.... T....

My absolute favorite Bread song! Have been looking for this..thanx so much for posting!! :)

  91. 9.... ....

@spacepatrolman I'll have to do just that! Thanks!

  92. 9.... ....

@spacepatrolman Wow! I bet their discographies could fill a NYC phone book!

  93. T.... ....

I remember hearing this song on the radio and going 'this is Bread?' I'm not a fan of their soft rock songs but this one's killer...

  94. b.... ....

Peaked only at #28 in Feb. '71. Obviously the public did not like hearing Bread get into rock because the follow up was "If" a typical soft-rock song which peaked at #4 in May '71

  95. M.... A....

@999manman yeah, they can play anything they want. they're amazing!

  96. 9.... ....

Rare to hear Bread getting heavy!

  97. D.... ....

Is the Single different? I was thinking the Album and Single was the same.. This and Guitar Man is my faves of BreaD!! 8-)

  98. f.... ....

la mejor cancion de bread ¿ y el video?

  99. t.... ....

@khj93play he does kinda sound like Mark in this one doesn't he? Never noticed before.
