Branigan, Laura - I Found Someone Lyrics

Don't you know
So many things they come and go
Like your words that once rang true
Just like the love I thought I found in you
And I remember the thunder
Talkin' about that fire in your eyes
But you walked away when I needed you most
And maybe baby maybe baby

I found someone to take away the heartache
To take away the loneliness
I've been feeling since you've been gone
Since you've been gone

Dry your eyes
I never could bear to see you cry
Someday your love will shine through
And show you the feelings you never really knew
Baby don't you lose that thunder
Talkin' about that fire in your eyes
You're looking at me but you still don't believe
And maybe baby maybe baby

I found someone to take away the heartache
To take away the loneliness
I've been livin' with since you've been gone
Since you've been gone

Too long on the border line
Wonderin' if your love was really mine
But you left me with open eyes
And now I realize

I found someone to take away the heartache
To take away the loneliness
I've been feeling since you've been gone

I found someone to take away the heartache
To take away the loneliness
I've been livin' with since you've been gone
Since you've been gone
Since you've been gone

Branigan, Laura I Found Someone Comments
  1. n.... s....

    Laura or cher

  2. L.... V....

I will always feel that this is the best version, she put real emotion into her songs; something other singers only dream about.

  3. .... ....

    Супер!!!

  4. F.... J....

Branigan's version is the original, but I think Cher's is the best, Cher puts more feeling to the song.

    F.... J....

Sorry but Laura had a wider vocal range than cher. You can hear it in all of her songs. This version has more emotion than cher's version. Chers vocals sound a little flat...similar to michael bolton.

    F.... J....

@Stewie dogg I'm not an expert in singing, but the song is better known in the voice of Cher, it is heard on oldies radios.

    F.... J....

    FRANCISCO JIMENEZ nah.

    F.... J....

@Stewie dogg yeah, but all that doesnt matter if the singer is not promoted properly.. I think that also Cher had an emotions... But Cher's emotions are the same in every song - of strong, independed, feministic woman... Laura brought more sweetness and vulnerability to her songs...

  5. s.... j....

love this song such much better than cherr

  6. A.... J....

This is the first version that I listened. But I have to admit that cher's version is better.

  7. s.... j....

I this better than the cher verson because there is just so much more amotion were as cher is so agressive as those she was going through heartbreak but its just to agresssve and very serfise

    s.... j....

SARAH Hepworth Cher does not show Emotion in her voice.

  8. T.... A....

Not going to lie: i like hers and chers version equally. RIP Laura

  9. R.... G....

Like lauras version so much better. But then again I love her!!! R.I.P. my beautiful Angel.

  13. B.... C....

I never knew she originally sang this song...

  14. T.... M....

This kind of music has a strong message, one can leave you and all of a sudden you get the best.....don't hang much to the past because it has nothing new to offer.....enjoy the today.....there will be always that someone that will come along to take away the loliness that was created by someone who did not deserve you in the first place....just move on because it will be a good thing to do.....Happiness counts....

  15. F.... S....

LAURA HAD A BEAUTIFUL VOICE. BUT BETTER THAN CHER. NEVER! MY OPINION.

  16. C.... C....

Excellent! as always IDOL Laura Branigan

    💙💙💙💙💙💙💙

  19. .... ....

the melody at the beginning and outro fade out is amazing. there is so much potential to make a mind blowing song out of it. if i only knew how to skillfully extend and enhance it so it doesnt become boring and repetitive

  20. L.... B....

Great song from Laura this video is odd.

    L.... B....

These are clips puts together from videos of her other songs.

  21. b.... m....

It's always baffling when a star records a song, it's not promoted, then there's no mention when someone else has a hit version within a few years. Gladys Knight was not happy that Bette Midler's version of "Wind Beneath My Wings" was such a hit when hers was not(it was originally recorded by someone else as a country song, but still). When Whitney Houston had a smash hit with "The Greatest Love of All," I remember hearing zero times that George Benson had cut that side seven years before. I remember hearing once when Cher's version of this came out that Laura Branigan had cut this side, then I heard years later that it had never been recorded before Cher's version...

  22. S.... D....

Laura is forever the greatest women singer ever ... I loved her

  23. 1.... ....

sounds way better than the cher version

    1.... ....

@alexe. The only wrong one here is your dumb ass.

  24. C.... T....

    Michael Boltons version is best.

  25. G.... Y....

Cher can only dream that she had a voice like Laura!

    G.... Y....

    @streetsjr44 LOL, dumb shit.

    G.... Y....

Harry Williams Cher’s version has more vocal runs. she made it her own. plus the instrumentation in her version is much better

    G.... Y....

@alexe. No, moron. Take your Cher goggles off.

    G.... Y....

Did you hear Cher sing this song live? No? So then shut up!

    G.... Y....

@Leo Sarkisian Yeah I have, and it sounded like SHIT compared to Laura, dumb ass.

  26. K.... W....

Cher sucks Laura is way better

    K.... W....

@alexe. Lol just stop you ugly inbred looking bitch. You are wrong.

  27. G.... M....

Beautiful singer. Michael Bolton wrote this.. So sad that Laura died.

    G.... M....

    Yes😥💔

    G.... M....

    She was way underappreciated

    G.... M....

    @mwduck *underrated

    G.... M....

    @UnleashedrapThat, too.

  28. J.... C....

Laura Branigan RIP great voice wonderful talent.

  29. E.... H....

love her. she is forever Young in spirit world.

  30. A.... P....

she went to soon.....she had so much more to give...love this lady...a dream of a woman

    A.... P....

Laura Branigan was criminally underrated. She should have had a string of hits stretching halfway to the damn moon. Some of it was because she was not considered "hollywood beautiful"...But I found her absolutely gorgeous & extremely sexy without having to show everything. The only thing sadder than her passing is that she will probably be forgotten & never get the recognition she deserves.

    A.... P....

@Bonus Baby she was definitely much more beautiful naturally than Cher, for exampe, who underwent gazillions of plastic surgeries to create hersrlf a "perfect and forever young looks", (still, I think she was much prettier before them) and Madonna, who was simply plain (both physically and vocally) and made it to the top by sleeping around and behaving provocative (she had a goon songs, though, during the 80's and early 90's). But Laura... She should have been in their league, an international superstar with plenty of hits and shows. Shame on her label, management, MTV, and all those who decided for us that we have to stick on with gimmicks, pornography and glossy emptiness...

  31. J.... D....

Hermosa canción. más hermosa la cantante, un ángel que ahora está en el cielo... Fiel expresión de mi época, años 80´...

    J.... D....

Juan Dilver Cornejo Coa totalmente de acuerdo contigo..Fueron mis mejores epocas los 80's tambien

  32. D.... M....

Great version but chers has more punch to it and an overall better production a better sound but still love this

    D.... M....

Laura's sounds far better than Cher's. Cher's lacks the emotion with her deep hoarse voice. Not good.

    D.... M....

@Grabbed You By The Pussy wrong

    D.... M....

@alexe. WRONG. The only wrong one here is your dumb ass. Laura's is better than Cher's. Laura also has a better voice than Cher, you idiot.

  33. J.... I....

She doesn't have the power of Cher's version... It's good but not enough....Cher is better

    J.... I....

@Bonus Baby Cher does have powerfull voice, thats no one can deny. But it lacks vulnerability and tenderness, that Laura had. Her voice fits her persona perfectly - strong. Cher indeed is very strong and I'd say strict person. Maybe these qualities helped her to stay on top for 6 decades...

    J.... I....

@Eliana I agree, hate to say this because I like both Cher and Laura. However, Laura could sing Cher under the table. Laura's vocal range is far greater than Cher's. It would be a close one, but I think Laura would come out on top.

    J.... I....

@Jason Strader unfortunately or fortunatelly, Laura didnt have the most important feature for success in show business - ambitions, self center and "diva" attitude. What Madonna or Cher always had. She also didnt have a husband producer, who could have made her great star, like Celine Dion, for example. Too bad, that such a talented, authentic, charismatic artist as Laura hadn't realized even tenth of her potential(((

    J.... I....

@Jason Strader then explain why, unlike Cher, Laura didn't showcase that "far greater" vocal range?

    J.... I....

@alexe. LOL! Your ugly inbred looking ass again. Just stop talking you dumb shit. Laura HAS showcased her far greater vocal range. Have you heard her songs; Gloria, Solitaire, How am I supposed to live with you, Especially her singing "POWER OF LOVE"? Look up Laura Branigan singing "Power of Love". DO IT. Educate yourself before talking you moron.

  34. A.... B....

    Laura is phenomenal....

  35. N.... B....

I lovet always at Laura Branigan my favourite Singer

  36. d.... ....

i didn't know laura sang this first. i do like her vocals. cher's works better as a pop song though production may be the reason for that.

  37. R.... W....

Laura did an amazing job on this. People who say it sounds cheap get better ears. Cher's voice in this song when she sang it sounded like a dying whale. Not to be rude. But Laura added emotion and emotion is an important thing in music. Laura did a much better job.

    R.... W....

The composition is better on Cher’s version

    R.... W....

@Grabbed You By The Pussy totally agree. Her label was lame and caused more damage than good. Its only her incredible talent and sence of music that let her stay on top for some time. But in some point, unfortunately, it wasnt enough, and she needed a little push from smart management. Sadly, she didn't find it...

    R.... W....

    totally agree~

    R.... W....

The reason Cher's version was more popular was because she (or whoever advised her) simplified and commercialised the melody.

She made it more "catchy" and easier to sing along to.

In terms of the sheer quality of the voice and the range of emotions displayed, however, this is better.

    R.... W....

    @streetsjr44 No, fool.

  38. J.... S....

Cher did a way better version of this song dont get me wrong Laura did a good job i just dont think its fits her as well as it did for Cher

    J.... S....

Cher's version sucks. This song is purely Laura Branigan, Laura has the emotion in her voice that Cher wishes she had.

    J.... S....

@Grabbed You By The Pussy I disagree. Cher does have an emotion - the same emotion that always, in all her songs - the one of strong, feministic woman, who doesn't give a f***k about anything or anyone and does what she wants. Laura is quite an opposite.

    J.... S....

@Eliana Cher doesn't have emotion in her voice. She just shouts the songs she sings.

  39. p.... g....

both hers and Cher's rock Bolton's version is different hell I like all the versions 😀

  40. s.... ....

Michael Bolton wrote this and his version is better than this. However, Cher's version is better than both by miles.

    s.... ....

    lauras the best version

    s.... ....

Well (according to Wikipedia at least) it was specifically, " written and composed FOR Laura Branigan by Michael Bolton and Touch keyboardist Mark Mangold." :) .

    s.... ....

Yeah sorry. I way don't agree. I like Cher's version for its power but this one has more feeling.

    s.... ....

@Ultraaman Lustral I agree. Cher has a distinctive voice. There's no mistaking who she is when one of her songs start playing. However, if she tries to sing pass that half an octave range that she has, she ends up doing that weird billy goat thing.

    s.... ....

@Jacob Skinner You sound like a whiney little cry baby. Go play in traffic you sook.

  42. r.... ....

Both versions are good but gotta go with the Cher version. I didnt even know cher did a remake of this one.

    r.... ....

This version is best. Cher sounds like a dying cow singing this song.

    r.... ....

    rawn4203
Bc she never gave credit to Branigan and Michael Bolton.

  43. M.... C....

So much better than Cher's version.... Of course I'm know fan of hers. 〽️

    M.... C....

    Mary Cope *No

  44. C.... A....

    I like Cher

  45. j.... T....

    HQ my arse

  46. R.... B....

Lots better than Cher's version in my opinion I love anything Laura Branigan sang

    R.... B....

Ray Bailey Cher is an absolute nut job. She’s an egotistical maniac. I like this version better.

  47. p.... ....

    Great song!

  48. N.... J....

This wasn't for her - plain and simple. Her vocal isn't the greatest here. She did a FAR better job on "How Am I Supposed to Live Without You". The production here is just wretched and her producers didn't have a clue what to do with this. Turns out Cher was the right vocalist for this and Bolton was the man to produce. He produced it as a Rock tune and Branigan's producers added silly synth textures that just don't belong. This was an extremely minor chart entry (#90) and justifiably so.

    N.... J....

+Vinicius PF In my opinion, Laura's just too stately here. She doesn't really let go like she could. Cher does and it benefitted the tune. Most often, Laura's production let her down. They got cheesy with the ridiculous synths and bad drum machines. No different here. "Power of Love" suffered from this too.

    N.... J....

There's a live one that's much better than this.

    N.... J....

I like Cher's version more by the way.

    N.... J....

    Laura Branigan sings this best.

    N.... J....

no ist lauras Version which counts@Andrew Shearin

  49. 8.... g....

I like Cher too, listening to them both over and over again back in the day and I'd have to say Cher could have used some music lessons from Laura,a whole other level was Branigans voice on.

  50. M.... M....

What a hit, miss you Laura but with your music you are with me all the time

  51. H.... ....

I think this Version is the best of the 3. Her Voice and the Passion she displays are beautiful

  52. G.... ....

I like Cher's remake and also Laura's.  Laura I'm betting needed no auto-tuning, Cher I'm willing to bet needed a little help.

    G.... ....

Well this song was written for her originally by Michael Bolton along with a few others. Cher was a cover although charted better. Personally I like this version better.

    G.... ....

When you listen to the Cher version, it's clear she needs no auto-tuning whatsoever. Cher was at in the prime of her power as a singer when she recorded this. It's only been in the last 15 years that they've auto-tuned the shit out of her voice, which is a shame. But the work she did in the 80's and early 90's in my mind is the best, most arresting stuff she ever did.

    G.... ....

+Jason Marcel I also like the rock material so much better than her dance stuff, If I could Turn Back Time,.Save Up All Your Tears, or this are amazing songs/vocals.

    G.... ....

Cher never needed autotune tbh. I don't even think they intended Believe to be such a huge hit

  53. b.... b....

this is a diamond compared to the turd that is the cher version . laura has the voice and emotion .

    b.... b....

uhhh Cher performed so much better in her version. better vocal runs, better arrangement

    b.... b....

@alexe. Lol, you are so stupid. Get your inbred looking ass out of here you ugly troll.

  54. C.... B....

My favourite song of hers, like all other versions but her emotion just shines through.

  55. S.... H....

Love this and the Cher version equally. The production on Cher's version has more punch to it (you can hear the Bon Jovi/Sambora influence on hers, quite a bit). But Laura has a lot of emotion in her voice. Awesome.

    S.... H....

+Branigan4ever Laura can do no wrong in your eyes and that's fine. You can enjoy her without needlessly and inaccurately slamming Cher in the process. Cher's career began well before Laura's and she knew success decades earlier. She continued to be successful into the late 90's musically. By the unfortunate end of Laura's life, she was no longer musically relevant. Laura only had a few bonafide hits. Cher has had dozens. Cher has been able to sing for ages so I disagree with you there too.

    S.... H....

+Nostril Jacker Hi Nostril Jacker, I didn't slam Cher nor Laura. I complimented both versions, as I like each version and artist on their own merits. Was your post for me or the person below?
--edit-- Oops! Sorry, I see it was not meant for me. Cheers!

    S.... H....

    @Steve H I tagged @*****.  It wasn't intended for you.

    S.... H....

Couldn't have said it better myself

    S.... H....

@Nostal Jack Laura's career could have easily lasted as long as Chers or anyone's elses career for that matter. But unfortunately, Laura left the music industry for a while to take care of her husband who had gotten cancer (and died a few years after.) It took years for her to move on before deciding to return and record music again but unfortunately, she passed away before she could regain her career. Laura had a wider vocal range than Cher and I like this version better. It has more emotion, you can feel it in her voice.

  56. S.... S....

    Cher sings this the best!!!!!

    S.... S....

    Nope Laura does.

  57. B.... L....

She's not cher but she's laura branigan!

  58. V.... ....

what are u talknig about?sorry but i dont know the story u say.....

  59. L.... B....

This arrangement was too fast. I wish she'd had another pass at it, when she was more established. More power to choose. Atlantic tanked this, and Laura had to watch a real music company give it treatment, and have a hit. Something she was learning to get used to. Though it still broke her heart.

    L.... B....

Why the hell didn't she left them???

Do you know, how Laura reacted when she heard her song in Cher's rendition? Did it really broke her heart?

  60. S.... ....

    Luv her!

  61. R.... P....

    Beautiful!
