Boz Scaggs - Then She Walked Away Lyrics

Then she walked away
Quietly so afraid
Smiling but no doubt
Crying her heart out
She really just wants to stay

Then she walked away
Leading her own parade
Nobody's cheering
The voices she's hearing
Are empty remarks she made

How was she to know
That it would come to this
Sorry Miss
They forgot to tell you it was just a game
Just a sad illusion
Now you're on your own
Really on your own
It's still a long way home

Then she walked away
Quietly so afraid
Smiling but no doubt
Crying her heart out
She really just wants to stay

How's she ever gonna face it after this
Emptiness
Got her feeling like she don't exist
Who were you expecting
Now you're on your own
Really on your own
And it's still a long way home

Now you're on your own
Really on your own
And it's still a long way home

Then she walked away
Quietly so afraid
Smiling but no doubt
Crying her heart out
She really just wants to stay

Then she walked away
Leading her own parade
Nobody's cheering
The voices she's hearing
Are empty remarks she made

@Annamandabella yes, you nailed it on the head. both have that sophisticated jazz-pop groove. both groups utilized the talents of some of the best studio players in music back since the early 70's. you have great taste in music my friend!!!!!!!!

  25. s.... ....

yes i agree a top album.. great post, thanks

  26. .... ....

    Sweet tune. Love the drums...

  27. l.... ....

    @moparcruisin

I consider him one of the greatest drummers of all time.

A friend of mine from the LA area said he knew him personally. He said, "did you know he died?" I was totally shocked and deeply saddened from losing a friend/musician I have never met, but still did by listening to his music.

That night I dreamed I was at his tombstone to pay my respects.

I saw a picture of his tombstone on the internet and it was the same one I saw in my dream.

    Rest In Peace, Jeff.

  28. l.... ....

    I really love this album.

Boz considered it his best work.

I have to agree with him on that.

It did not have the same impact as Silk Degrees, which propelled him to the top, and deservedly so, but is an excellent album with a good mix of jazz, disco, funk, rock, early techno.

The opening piano part is so clearly classic jazz from the 40's and 50's.

This is pure genius and music at it's finest.

  29. L.... E....

    great album, Classy guy...memories.

  30. T.... B....

this tune is so smooth it makes me want to put some bananas in the blender

  31. M.... ....

an underrated follow up to the huge silk degrees album.but i love it had the vinyl when i was 18.great voice backed up by the best musicians, jay graydon ,jeff porcaro, ray parker jr,mike omartian and dave hungate.great stuff!

  32. c.... ....

    この感じだよ!・・・・・

    c.... ....

    cyonnmageomuretu damn he's still here

  33. D.... C....

Great one. The songs on this one sound like they would have pre-dated Silk Degrees. What do you think?

  34. A.... ....

If Boz and The Dan joined forces they wouldv'e been an unstoppable factory of smoothness that would have been unrivaled. FACT. FACT I SAY!

  35. A.... ....

Same year and up there with AJA

  36. J.... ....

i gotta get this on cd..i have missed this old beautiful "Boz"

  37. D.... C....

    Thanks for posting aspara!

  38. l.... ....

I agree with Boz. This album is some of his best work. Great album. I play guitar and am of fan of Boz. I can play almost note for note Jay Graydon's solo on "Peg" by Steely Dan. I met him years ago in Modesto.

  39. r.... ....

me too.Strange that it hasn't got mo hits.I too think this song deserves much more. This was when these guys were peaking.'Sorry miss they forgot to tell you it......long long way from home'.Xcellent blend of words and music... both are sound.
