Boz Scaggs - Simone Lyrics

Darling lets stop this pretending
What more is there to say
Here's to your eyes
And my final demise
Oh Simone its you

I knew from the start
That my easily touched heart
Was about to go out for a ride
Conquer the room
With a touch of perfume
Oh Simone its you

Oh Simone my heart is breaking
Yes my dear I think its going fast
Got to let me know
Got to let it show for it to last
Oh Simone to hold you
Dance you into the night
And on into the dawn
And on and on and on to make it right

Make it romantic
Make it up I don't care
Look up and sigh
Even if its a lie
Oh Simone what can I do

What charm could sway me
Then burn and betray me
But thrill me the way that you do
Second to none
So completely undone
Oh Simone its you

Oh Simone my heart is breaking
Yes my dear I think its going fast
Got to let me know
Got to let it show for it to last
Oh Simone to hold you
Dance you into the night
And on into the dawn
And on and on and on to make it right

Its time they told you
Its about time you knew
Straighten your gown
Throw a Manhatten down
Yes Simone its true

Why do you think you're fooling somebody
Do you think that I can't see
There's no doubt not a trace
Its all over your face
Oh Simone its me
Ooh hoo ooh hoo

Oh Simone my heart is breaking
Yes my dear I think its going fast
Got to let me know
Got to let it show for it to last
Oh Simone to hold you
Dance you in to the night
And on to the dawn
And on and on and on to make it right

(Oh oh oh)
Yes my dear I think its going fast

Boz Scaggs Simone Comments
  1. Carlos Cappellini

    Incredible song.

  2. MrSteveb80

Boz was at the top of his game during this 4 year span 76-80. Silk Degrees, Down Two Then Left, and Middle Man. A+ stuff.

    Dionne Burgess

Love Boz I wrote him twice when I was in High School, never heard from him, he still is my Favorite. Class of 85

    MrSteveb80

@Dionne Burgess you have great taste Dionne.

  3. Laurens Mulder

I always looooovvveeeeeeeee the vocal arrangements of the backing vocals. For me they so carry this brilliant track This also has the Toto vibe, most certainly in the instrumentaal intermezzo. There are more Toto members playing the instruments. And David Fosteron keys. Nuff said :)

  4. Wolfgang Nitsch

    I 💗 THAT SOUND !!!... 🎵🎶🎶...😍

  5. bassmanjoe

My favorite album from him, sorry i find Silk Degrees a little overhyped. This one is a diverse masterpiece, it showcases his talents as a whole.

    JoeJoe

I plan on getting Middle Man on CD for my birthday. Only way I can listen to it without being made fun of, because everyone at my school finds it "weird"

    Fred Flintstone

No need to be sorry....Boz has plenty to choose from. Plenty to choose from....

    venomagent76

@JoeJoe good for you.. They are all conformist. Stand out, like good music! I am happy for you. I was the kid in school that liked this in late 80s early 90s when Rap and other crap was popular!

    JoeJoe

Thanks, man. Glad I have it, I have a bunch of other boz albums on CD as well, which is nice @venomagent76

  6. Ronald Elston

LOVE IT SOULFUL GROOVE GO BOZ😊

  7. Daniel Delaney

I have forgotten just how much I like this guy's voice. It doesn't matter if he is singing one of his classic hits or something like this. You go man.

    NYCeyes

Daniel Delaney I agree. His voice is excellent here, as it always is. I also have to give it up for the backup singers, who really shine towards the end. I miss backup singers.

This one really stands out from the rest!

  8. R. L. Smith

One of my all-time favorite Boz Scaggs songs from "Middle Man".

Very surprised this one didn't make to the hit list in 1980 or '81, due to it's club-like style, but at least "Simone" made it to both Boz's "My Time: Boz Scaggs Anthology, 1969-1997" and "Essential" collections.

That was also the late Jeff Porcaro on drums (I'm also a drummer, albeit an amateur). Jeff was a founding member of the band Toto, as well as a regular and very versatile studio session drummer until his sudden death in 1992 at age 38.

    NYCeyes

Russell L. Smith Wow, thank you for the side story of the drummer (very sad). I, too, am surprised this wasn't a top dance hit.
    ¯\_(ʘ_ʘ)_/¯
The fix was in LoL because this is a really nice song (still is) that gets you moving.

    Ronald Elston

Russell L. Smith Actually Jeff Had Did Some Work On Silk Degrees Album Him And David Patch Will Be Missed In The Music Business and FOR THE FANS OF TOTO too.

    bassmanjoe

    It's on his Box Set

    Fred Flintstone

    Yeah....Jeff couldn't control his demon....
