Boz Scaggs - Last Tango On 16th Street Lyrics

Selling late night transfers
Try to make a play
The people with the answers
Don't often pass this way
Starting from Dolores
All the way to Three
It's the last tango on 16th Street

The later that it gets, the meaner that it looks
There's a lot to learn out here
Not found in books
We gotta solve the winter rain,
Watch out for the heat
When it's the last tango on 16th Street

Same old people begging quarters
Stretching out their hands
Vendors selling flores
From a plastic can
Some are poor but honest, others lie and cheat
Well it's the last tango on 16th Street

All the homeless helpless need a place to stay
Asking you for spare change
Don't know what to say
Gypsy plays a melody, a broken tooth just smile so sweet
It's the last tango on 16th Street

Same old song, I know you heard it
Many times before
Why this life in poverty seems so much like a war
Just make sure you careful
Where you place your feet
When it's the last tango on 16th Street

Some of them don't see so good when they leave the bars
Talking loud and ugly
Stepping from the cars
If you're holding valuables, it pays to be discrete
Cuz it's the last tango on 16th Street

Dodge between the hookers, aim between their thighs
Full moon shines above the bay
You can see it in their eyes
Past the Capp Street dogleg
Your heart might skip a bit
When it's the last tango on 16th Street

#NOWandThen #Tango #BlueEyedSoul

Well, Underground culture is anything capable of coping with a big question left without an answer. Kerouack said: "where am i going? Idon't know but i must go.

First time hearing his music.  Amazing!!!   Found it after watching Jimmy Fallon a few weeks ago,.  Can not stop listening to him!

    K.... W....

@Fred Flintstone oh and yes, to me he was an awaited taste. At first i couldn't stand him. Shhhhhh, don't tell him that....

    K.... W....

@Maria R Dudette....pig that I am, that's even better😉! I read on another string that he's still approachable. Someone actually had breakfast with him at a hotel restaurant, at his invitation!. That sounds like the guy I chatted with, 40 years or so, ago (ugh...that sucks to hafta say that outloud...). Say hi when ya' see me out here. Happy New Year!

    K.... W....

@Fred Flintstone Hey, we could be groupies and follow him around Maybe we could catch a breakfast from him!

    K.... W....

@Maria R At the rate I'm goin', I'm pretty sure most people think I'm a Boz groupie already!

  53. M.... H....

    Great stuff

  54. M.... P....

    Wonderful, Boz!

  55. V.... A....

I was sitting here humming along - and then I listened to the words. It's all about the Mission in San Francisco - and it's so on (I pre-ordered album). Bravo Boz!

    V.... A....

Ha, ha! The City! Were you there when he used to hang out at the Balboa? I WAS! He was right there, sippin' Irish coffee and just talkin' with us! I was in college, between '76 and '81 (ok....so I hung out there maybe a little too much...) He was as cool as you can possibly imagine. I saw him at a concert at Villa Montalvo in Los Gatos, many years, later. It was an open air venue in the woods..... I don't even know if it's still there. The entrance was right next to the stage. I walked in and stood ther 'cause nobody made me move. During a moment when his band was doin' somethin' on the other side of the stage and he was idle, he looks over at me and gives me the "guy nod". I smiled so hard my face hurt...doin' it right now, ha, ha. Sometimes I wonder if he recognized me...I doubt it, but it's still a cool memory!

    V.... A....

@Fred Flintstone I used to go see him at Slims with my uncle Jim. They were good friends and I got to meet him once. My uncle; Reverend Jim Smith repaired Jefferson Airplane/Starship's sound equipment and pinball machines in their studio.

    V.... A....

@Shawn Hawkins Their studio? The place on Fulton Street?

    V.... A....

    @Fred Flintstone not sure.

    V.... A....

@Shawn Hawkins They had a big Victorian, across the street from The Park. It was painted all black. I think the address was 1313...pretty scary to a little kid. I later went to USF, literally up the street. It was still there at the time. I would jog to the beach often, straight down Fulton, sometimes....but I always crossed the street when I passed by! It still freaked me out, 10...12 years later! They sold it some time, ago, and many of them are dead, now. Smilin' remembering, though....

  56. S.... B....

    Superb , sublime .........
