Boz Scaggs - It's Over Lyrics
(Best of friends never part
Best of fools has love forever
From the bottom of his heart)
So why pretend
You'll have to find out for yourself
Go on ask somebody else
Why can't you just get it through your head
It's over it's over now
Yes you heard me clearly now I said
It's over it's over now
I'm not really over you
You might say that
Lord I swear I just can't take it no more
(Go away)
Go away
(Far away)
So far away
It's too late to turn back now
And it don't matter anyhow
Cos you were right
I'm to blame
Can't go on the same old way
Can't keep up the same old game
Why can't you just get it through your head
It's over it's over now
Yes you heard me clearly now I said
It's over it's over now
I'm not really over you
You might say that
I can't take it I can't take it
Lord I swear I just can't take it no more
(Why can't you just get it through your head
It's over it's over now)
Yes you heard me clearly now I said
It's O O O O
Why can't you just get it through your head
It's O O Over
Yes you heard me clearly now........

Boz Scaggs It's Over Comments
this song's been going through my head for several days now
Def one of the best albums of the 70s. Listen to that vocal, the piano and drums. Just fantastic music
Damn good music. Still listening Dec 2019.Perth Western Australia.
This song brings back million memories of someone I used to know. Great song
Bought the Silk Degrees cassette and wore it out on my boom box.Bought another copy and wore that tape out in my 70 El Camino!Miss those days.
wonderful music.
In the summer of 1976, you could not flip on a light switch without hearing a song from this album...The next summer, the same for "Rumours."
Other albums sold more copies that year, but this album had crossover hits which meant you heard it EVERYWHERE!!
Boz Scaggs on the meaning of the album's title:
"It was just something I had scribbled on the side of a page. The last thing I do after I record an album is name it. [Silk Degrees] doesn’t mean anything specifically. It's just an image I couldn't get out of my head."
Just heard this song during his concert tonight. I like it. Came here to hear it again.
Thanks it's the best word for word thanks mike
Love this song
Boz still sounds great in his 70s... just saw him on Monday in Albany NY!
ever buy an album just for one song? this was that album for me, but i ended up liking another song on it as well, Georgia. never was a lido shuffle fan, and the name of the guy singing, BOZ SCAGGS, c'mon... so lame lol. but i did like those two songs. i have no idea why this album was so big because seriously, old Boz just had no appeal for me. i don't think any of my friends liked him either. we were more into rock and roll like steppenwolf, neil young, pink floyd, led zeplin, lynyrd skynyrd, etc. i can remember hiding this album when my friends came over haha.
This and Aja by steely Dan
1976 was a great year for music. We survived without cell phones somehow and seemed like a much happier society. Thank God for music like Boz.
Music Mike...is the man ...great TRACK MM
Love this it over u dog
I made a mistake and sold this album to my friend. I still love this album :)
When the 2016 Chicago Cubs World Series drought is over, they mean it's over.
Brings back great memories. Thanks for the upload. I have this album on vinyl put away when cds came out.
This takes me back to Alpha Xi Delta Sorority 1979!
Love Boz.....I was 21 when all these came out....Still love the songs...no rap for me....
First time in hearing this, brilliant thanks, awesome !
I could play this album forever. It is high school all over again
I played this over and over, crying my eyes out. Odd, the pain comes back....momentarily.
great track
If I could sing like only one guy,...guess the rest! (..i'm sure my wife would rather hear Boz singing in the shower too!)
It never started...
Its always your fault ☺ right
......YES! ....... YES! .... OH! .... YES ..... GREAT POSTING!
SHOULD HAVE BEEN A TOP TEN HIT COBBLESTONES W JACK WHITMAN FRIDAY NITES!🤣BAY RIDGE BK
One of the greatest albums of the 70s, a decade in which most every top artist or group of the time put out the best work of thier careers! This album from start to finish, is a classic. The backing musicians are TOTO, and the album was produced by David Paich. Just looka these tracks, Its over, Georgia which is (my favorite) Lido Shuffle, Lowdown, Were all alone, Harbor lights, What can i say, love me tomorrow and Jump Street. I wore this album and Aja out, and still to this day its one of my most played. Boz reached his mountain top with Silk Degrees!
GREAT SHARING ...... "MUSICMIKE'S" .... THANKS FOR THE POSTING!
You're Welcome.
This was the best transition album. This album put an end to disco and brought back great music. We still had to put up with disco for a few more years, but the writing was on the wall .
What a beautiful song it's so over my past time to move on to a better future and a happy life someday with the right man
All the Capitola memories... Lord back in the day
My little brother kept playing my album over and over, r.i.p. carnalito.
One of my favorite songs. I played this all the time going thru my divorce. I was confused, I didn't want to, but knew I had to.
Just saw him with Michael McDonald ,,great show at Cohasset .Mass. Sold out ..fabulous show .he told so many stories & played all his old hits ..it was a dream come true for me & my gang 👍🤓😍
He came out and sang this as his first song at Tanglewood in Summer 2017 and it was awesome!
GREAT ALBUM !!!
I was 16 when this came out and wouldve been bitch-slapped for being a "fa**ot" for admitting I liked this whole album. Nowadays, I could care less. This is an amazing pop album.
I just saw Boz in concert last week. Everybody there was thinking the same thing........
Boz and the 1970's. Does not get much better than this stuff.
Paddy n kim love n miss you,stil
thanks Mike, forgot all about this one.....
I had this album back in the day but never replaced it digitally. Forgot this excellent tune. iTunes here I come!
I recently discovered Boz with his Hits album. I liked Lowdown but not any of the other songs. I ran across a really bad jacket of this album a few days ago but the disc was in good shape... it's gone to be one of my favorite lps.. right up there with Dire Straights first release.
LaserActiveGuy
Boz, I was just a young teenager when this song can out. OH MY!!!!!!!! :0
The Best!
Great song I have this album 😎wow over 40 years ago 😬
Art house album cover, Boz was really the buzz, with this release. It's Over, one of the best tracks, on an album with plenty. Like Carole King, Tapestry, when you finally get everything right at the right time, you've scaled the mountain...
Past is over now to Lat
I so love song
Fabulous! My favourite Boz Scaggs track., Never tire of hearing it. Thank You.
this is my favorite song by boz Skaggs anyone else
it's a good one for sure ! my favorite is Harbor Lights
What a nice way to break up with someone....
Should have been Number 1 but there was a lot of competition then of good quality songs . The only one who has the gift nowadays is Bruno Mars .
I'm ok with Bruno Mars, but he leaves me cool if not cold. I'm more of an Adam Levine fan for his voice more so than Maroon 5's songs.
Love listening to this album, my favourite of his... particularly from the vinyl :D I own this one
Like many this song meant a lot to me. Helped declare my freedom from a particularly nasty jerk. Thanks Boz! You're the best anyway'--but I am also indebted.
I dont even know why I am Here right now!
I so love this album! This for me was 1973!!!
You must have a very effective time machine because Silk Degrees wasn't released until 1976.
One of the best albums of the seventies, full of brilliant songs, great value for money , great music.
@Ed I saw him in the spring of 76. What a show. What a show
This is fabulous! Back to 1970's. We were so lucky to grow up with this music!! Love you forever Boz ❤️
Great song!
Artan Tapi YOU BET!! Boz is the best! Loved him from my 20's on and I'm in my 60's now! 😱
Sandy Tonkin me too
please someone smart....build a thread to some reversing time continuum....I need to go back....please those Hampton beach coppertone and TAB soda days...buggles on my fingers....am crying thinking about the simple times
Tab soda, isn't that funny. Things were simpler because we were young. They probably weren't as simple for our parents.
Virtual Time Machine! It is not just the song. it is that "Time Stamp" Even for those who may not have liked the song? There is no escape from the time machine gift in Music we grew up with
It's over ,it's over now! You might just say I can't take it no more, lol I so love this still
it's over it's over now...I'm not really over you...you might say I just can't take it
april 22.... tally fl.... I'm there......yea baby!
that was a cool time of my life "low down"
THIS THE BOY FROM TEXAS ,AKA TEXAS SLIM, NOW LIVING SOMEWHERE IN THE BAY AREA OF CALIFORNIA!
Omg, I'm 17 again, hanging out on the beach with all of my friends, I so miss those days :))
Definitely a song that works as a time machine. A brilliant album!
Never over
great album
Thanks for posting Mike! Super cool song!
I saw Boz at The Springfield Civic Center along with The Little River Band, back in the day.
So did I! I saw him there a couple of times at the Springfield Civic Center, maybe 1976 or 1977. I was living in Norwich, Conn. a the time. In a few weeks, he is putting on a show at the Mesa Arts Center in Mesa, Az., where I now live..... R.S.
Richard Shultis ... Wow! .. I think i saw you there... lol
Boz Scaggs came to my hometown performed at our Fox Theater a concert that I was able to go to right after chemotherapy I was able to take another cancer survivor to enjoy the concert it was fantastic a great performer I love the sixties and seventies music
I love it, I'm glad you are doing better
Oh, to be able to go back then and know what I know now. Yes, I would make mistakes, but atleast they would be NEW mistakes, and dare I hope, BETTER mistakes? If only I could......
BOZ WAS, AND STILL IS, 'THE MAN'
Totally. ...The Man....
LORD I swear I just can't take it no more..
"It's Over"

you figured the lyric out?
Oh, the memories come flooding back. Thanks for posting.
I believe the back up group on this Album is"Toto".
I also really like the "Monents" album with "We were always sweethearts" and "Near You"
@minasmichelle Most of the musicians from Toto played on this album and other William Scaggs recordings I believe.Check Wikipedia for details.
Anyone who's had to initiate a breakup with a pleading partner knows what this song is all about....
and yet to me its awesomely heart breaking you don't know if the back up singers are being sarcastic, and are actually asking you/him/us to stay? i'm probably reading way too much into it.
I tend to think they're just echoing the main lyrics. But your interpretation is interesting.
boy howdy
gracias por compartirlo sigue adelante que por gente como tu el mundo es mejor
I never did get it through my head therefore it was never over.
I Love your use of the CKLW Id Intro... It Brings back Lost Memories of my Childhood of the the mid 60's and early 70's..now I'll enjoy Boz...Thanks for the upload.. :-)
great memories
Like everyone else, I had this album and loved every song on it. It was an amazing time in music that one could find so many albums like that. I felt the same about virtually every ELO album. Anyway, while every song on Silk Degrees was terrific, I think this one was my favorite.
@MrTrashcan1 I was a teenager when "Silk Degrees" (what on earth does that mean anyway...hehe) was released and couldn't afford to purchase a huge quantity of records but this was one I was compelled to buy.
"It's Over" is one of my favourites but unfortunately it's not included on the greatest hits compilation CD I now own.
A master stylist, blazing his own path with panache and such consistently excellent work!
This is a song of being tiered of the BS in a relationship, A guy puts in a 150% and it stills not enough, yea It's Over !
Ed a Buck and Quarter is all i could afford back then..my first Love had a case of Wanderlust...i Call that a Half assed Effort...a B- on my part.. I was 15 when this came out...i saw her at my class of 79 Reunion... She Married 3 Suckers..I'm still on my first..Que Sera Sera...
See Boz Scaggs elegantly tell an old girlfriend to get lost.
Beautiful bittersweet Boz classic.
great job Mike...thank you for sharing all your talents
Just saw this great artist....played a couple of tracks from this album
Thanks for sharing on Vinyl , Im an Analog man all the way !
Thanks Mike! Great kick ass song. I played this album & Christopher Cross when I used to get ready for work back in '79/'80. Great musical talent to start the day ! Stereo rules !
This is one of those few albums where I loved ALL the songs on the album! Another example is Steely Dan's Aja.
Tom Lacko no joke, black cow is hands down steely dan’s best song
Can't agree more and I like both albums!
You can add The Cars eponymous debut album to this list.
Many of the players are on both albums
@Terry Knierim Untrue. While "Aja" features dozens of session players, only 3-4 of them are featured on "Silk Degrees."
Jim Horn, Chuck Findley, Dick Hyde...that's about it.
Although it didn't make it high on the chart, this is one damn fine song! Thank you for the upload!
Wonder Awhile brilliant, never heard it before.. !
:)) the perfect cheer-up.
xoxo
Funny too, it's a break up song.
I heard this music when I was a kid and somehow it's stuck with me,,,he is great. I never get tired of his sound. Big Smiles.
