Boyle, Susan - Daydream Believer Lyrics

Oh, I could hide 'neath the wings of the bluebird as she sings
The six o'clock alarm would never ring
But it rings and I rise wipe the sleep out of my eyes
The shavin' razor's cold, and it stings

Cheer up, sleepy Jean, oh what can it mean
To a daydream believer and a homecoming queen?

You once thought of me as a white knight on his steed
Now you know how happy I can be
Oh, and our good times start and end without dollar one to spend
But how much baby do we really need?

Cheer up, sleepy Jean, oh what can it mean
To a daydream believer and a homecoming queen?
Cheer up, sleepy Jean, oh what can it mean
To a daydream believer and a homecoming queen?

Cheer up, sleepy Jean, oh what can it mean
To a daydream believer and a homecoming queen?
Cheer up, sleepy Jean, oh what can it mean
To a daydream believer and a homecoming queen?

Cheer up, sleepy Jean, oh what can it mean
To a daydream believer and a homecoming queen?

  15. G.... S....

Susan has an amazing voice ... this voice can only have been given by God

  16. .... ....

    ピアノとヴォーカルだけのシンプルな音で、こんなに優しい音楽になるんだね。

  17. J.... B....

Every time I hear this, as a Monkees fan, I think Davy and the boys would be thrilled. Apart from the original, I think the most beautiful tribute to a great group and a beautiful song that will live forever. Rip Davy. We will always love you all.

    J.... B....

original is composed and performed by John Stewart, not the Monkeys

  18. J.... H....

She's so amazing!!! I just love her heart!! He voice is that of an angel because she is a very good person. I cannot think of anything negative to say about this absolutely amazing lady! Mostly I just say "WOW!!! When I hear each of her songs for the first time!! Thank you Susan Boyle for sharing such a beautiful beautiful thing as your angelic voice to our world!! It will live forever!! And you are the best thing that every happened to a talent show!! Just WOW!!!

    J.... H....

+Jeannie Hiebert Yes she is inspiring. Such a sweet lady and her light shines bright. Love her to death and admire her. This is coming from a tomboy who can't sing. I don't have to though. She reminds me that we all have our own special gifts. She reminds us that we all are useful.

  19. r.... l....

rendition of this song I think she sings it in a melancholy way of sadness is talking about for young girl and remembering who they were in the past I think she did a superb job on it I love it slow and moody

  20. R.... W....

    She is amazing

  21. l.... ....

Whoever has ears, let them hear...

    l.... ....

    I am and it's amazing

  22. I.... ....

Upbeat happy song ruined. Way to slow and depressing!

    I.... ....

@I-made-a-booboo-69 go listen to monkee's version then. I think its brilliant, and better than monkees you are entitled to your opinion, but looks like most of youtube likes it, so suggest you stick to listening to monkees version where singing gets drowned out by the instruments. I like the the monkees, but that was the problem with most of their music.

    I.... ....

@ph77 Well thats what i do listen to the monkee's version! Im not saying she doesnt have a lovely voice cause she does. Im just saying her version of this song her style of singing doesnt do the song justice thats all. :-)

    I.... ....

    I agree

    I.... ....

You're still wrong. Have fun listening to your N-Sync and your Menudo CDs.

  23. b.... ....

2 of some of my favorite things mixed! Susan Boyle and The Monkees!

  24. G.... M....

    Que hermosa voz

  25. k.... g....

Que hermosa mujer, desde Venezuela te mando el abrazo mas sincero y fraterno. Eres ejemplo de humildad de sencilles y de que nunca abandonemos nuestros sueños. Dios te Bendiga Susan Boyle

  26. S.... B....

Anne Murray's version has altered lyrics for a female singer, but it still sounds kind of awkward. Susan Boyle's lyrics sound better.

  27. l.... ....

Ms. Boyle's rendition of Wild Horses is amazing..... but this song is supposed to be fast and upbeat and put a smile on your face..... this is too slow.....

  28. h.... ....

    オリジナルの歌詞もいいけど清志郎の歌詞のほうが個人的に好き。日本人だからだろうか。ってかこのヒスBBAが嫌い

  29. x.... ....

She didn't fancy singing the tune then.

  30. D.... H....

Does that mean "secure love22" doesnt love me ? Booo hoo

  31. P.... w....

Peter Tork plays the beautiful piano melody!! :) Read it from an article! :)

  32. T.... T....

YES HATERS SUCK ALL OVER YOU TUBE I AROHA/LOVE SUSAN LOTS XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

  33. J.... ....

Great song, beautiful voice. Just needs to be sang a little faster.

  34. f.... ....

My favorite rendition yet.......on that you can bet.

  35. d.... ....

Not as good as the original.. But no song beats the original. She's still good.

  36. M.... ....

Not as nice in my opinion as the monkees original version, but she has one of the best voices of all time, and this version is definately an original take on an old song!

  37. G.... A....

if you let go of all your ideas, you hear a voice, singing a song. it has no meaning whatsoever, until YOU hear it.

"Perfect is a fault, and fault lines change..." REM

  38. a.... ....

    lovely version =)

  39. y.... r....

Beautiful songs ever ! Amazing ! Tribute to Monkeyss.

  40. r.... ....

this chicks pipes are sweet as orange-,blossom honey, it's not davy jones but it's quite nice, this is really a mans song about surviving on little but love, it's important that a man sing it because men are expected to be the breadwinners, so it doesn't mean the same thing coming from a woman, it,s not supposed to be so slow either , it's a HAPPY song about sad times. not a sad song about sad times i guess what i'm saying is the monkees did it perfect..

  41. D.... H....

Its history that now love. I hated her version of that clasic Monkees hit, which was worse as Davy Jones had just died.
I always worry that Susan might lift her skirts up.She is a little odd. See I have managed to write that with no mis-spellings and no swear words. You could do as well if you wanted. george.

  42. b.... ....

Take note of my comment re "the words" MURDERED & BUTCHEREDED.Use ur brain & have some sensitivity b4 you "blurt" idiodic words that HURT even TRAUMATIZE others. How DARE u call her an "old bitch".People arent TRASH.Would U like to be considered as trash?Even someone gave a damn about YOU ,but do you really deserve it ?This song btw is BEST heard on Susans cd.Its sandwiched inbetween 2 BELTERS & was MEANT to be a "come down" song & hearing it ALONG WITH rest of cd in THAT context is REFRESHING.

  43. b.... ....

Let me guess....grade 2 education? Havent learned any intelligent words in your lifetime? Shame. Susan speaks German and has a degree. She uses her words much more intelligently then YOU do. I promise you if you increase your vocabulary & learn to speak with eloquence , your future job prospects will be much greater. Start with YOUTUBE comments. You wont make it in the REAL world with that lack of vocabulary, sorry.Show some MATURITY.A JUVENILE mindset will get doors slammed in your face.

  44. b.... ....

I really HATE it when people use the word "MURDERED 'or "BUTCHERED "a song.To me it reveals individuals whom have absolutely NO sensitivity, compassion,or care about OTHERS PERIOD! only themselves. It is JUVENILE &they dont THINK they just "blurt" to get noticed..PPL THINK about those whose LOVED ONES have been MURDERED or BUTCHERED like the Picton women & how much THEY hate & are HORRIFIED by those words. But if ur insensitive to begin with , how could you THINK of such things that HURT others?

  45. G.... L....

i've listened this song before im gonna go to bed ,,,,, oh god...so relax ^__^

  46. m.... ....

What a lovely rendition of this song,Completely different from the Monkees renditon which I also liked!!

  47. D.... H....

The "har" of course was my mistyping and should have been "has" She truly murdered that classic famous 60s song and was made even worse by the fact Davy Jones had died. I am sure "blackmamba" is not that sensitive?

  48. D.... H....

Thats not really the point is it Black Mamba. Simon Cowell cant sing a note yet he comments on songs. I dont think he would have liked her singing of Day Dream Believer.

  49. D.... H....

The old bitch har murdered davy jones song, utterly horrible.Hope she doesnt try on any of one directions hit. Its simply sung too slow. The only people that can like this is those who have never heard of the monkees.

  50. A.... J....

Wow, her voice sounds so unexpectedly youthful.

  51. R.... O....

suan sound awsome she from scotland my late family was born there to my mom toshe living in canada to stay with me
R I P Davy sweet deam i am a day dreamer when i think of you davy god bless

  52. s.... ....

    too slow...

  53. E.... L....

i dislike this version of the song its not ment 2 be a slow song speed it up!!

  54. P.... ....

I really do like her vioce it is a great gift.

  55. T.... ....

Great version, but something badly wrong with her voice.

  56. l.... ....

@HaneeFannee Anyway, what on earth is wrong with you? Are you so empty that you must stoop to trying to provoke arguments on youtube? You are sad, lame and a loser.

  57. l.... ....

@HaneeFannee Not sure who you are talking to. I certainly don't have the mind of a child. I have a mind that can remember being a child, hence I am an excellent teacher. Ignorance seems to be your forte. First spelling, now criticizing Aspies with zero understanding. Anyway, I am through with this conversation, it's boring.

  58. M.... R....

    @redmr2na - well said

  59. B.... ....

@littleniyah That's okay and I apologise for my error. I respect people like you who are working and paying tax instead of reaping mental health benefits, though.. I don't think you should be working with children. You're hardly a good role model when you have the mind of a child, yourself :-)

  60. J.... C....

It's a beautiful version of the song -- based on a version done for the American T.V. series "Dawson's Creek" by Mary Beth Maziarz. The slower pace is more consistent with the way John Stewart performed it (he wrote it) than the version done by the Monkees.

Before dissing the Monkees too much, keep in mind that their hits were written by top people in the industry - Goffin and King, Neil Diamond, John Stewart among others. That's why those tunes have lasting value (while the rest are dreck.)

  61. l.... ....

@HaneeFannee It's complimenting, not complementing. When you complement something it means you go with it, as dressing complements salad. I am sorry to be pedantic but I am an English teacher with Asperger's so I can't help it.

  62. j.... f....

discreditor i lived thru the 60s and believe me most of the monkees stuff was throwaway

  63. d.... ....

@irish9boy throwaway pop song, are you mad? Nope don't answer that the evidence is here for all to see.

  64. r.... ....

@HaneeFannee Ahh, gotcha, I didn't catch on to your meaning

  65. B.... ....

@redmr2na I think if you'll take notice, you'll see that I'm actually COMPLEMENTING her. Most freaks can't even hum a tune!

  66. r.... ....

@HaneeFannee If you don't like it, then don't listen to her.

  67. r.... ....

life. I'm a lover of music, and I say to all the narrow minded people that leave negative comments on videos of anything that is different then what they like, Hey, stop being so narrow minded. If it works for you fine, if it doesn't don't listen to it.

  68. r.... ....

I Never ever thought I'd actually like anything Susan Boyle did, but I stand corrected. Even though Yes the original is better for it own reasons, I think this version has a place as well. Susan took a upbeat song, and gave it more of a slower, sadder, ballad like sound and it works. I love original versions of songs sung by the people that wrote them to begin with, but I'm not opposed to listening to different versions of songs. Music is like love, it comes in many forms from all walks of

  69. 1.... ....

    Amazing!

  70. d.... ....

each individual has their own singing style! those who are sold out to their idols, get the fuck out of youtube with their bias comparisons! who told you to come to youtube and judge? this is for everyone...just lend your ear fucking morons!!! will you???

  71. S.... B....

Like I said, the song wasn't written by the Monkees...

  72. f.... ....

    buu una cagada

  73. j.... ....

    どれほど歌が上手でも、オリジナルには勝てない。

  74. m.... ....

such a sweet sounding version of the old Monkees hit!!

  75. H.... R....

as much as this is very well sung, @whiskers1965 is right, its not really meant to be sung slowly

  76. T.... H....

    sutekinauta,arigato!

  77. S.... B....

If anyone is interested in the songwriter he was a member of the Kingston trio-a band which recently won a grammy. The Monkees sang a very popular version of the song but we mustn't get confused by pop culture-many pop bands don't write their own music.

  78. S.... B....

Since when did the song 'belong' to the Monkees?!-It doesn't! It was written by the late John Stewart and recognition for the song should be given to him. Look him up. Personally, I love this version and Susan has reminded us of what can be done with a beautiful and timeless song.

  79. S.... B....

Since when did the song 'blong' to the Monkees?!-It doesn't! It was written by the late John Stewart and recognition for the song should be given to him. Look him up. Personally, I love this version and Susan has reminded us of what can be done with a beautiful and timeless song.

  80. j.... f....

she renews this throwaway pop song into something fragile but beautiful this is what great artists do not carbon copies of the originals and a fabulous production too

  81. G.... M....

Leave it to the Monkees Susan, you are good at what you do but this doesn't do you justice. Even Anne Murray was better than this. I really enjoyed you on BGT

  82. w.... ....

sorry but while i like this song it was not meant to be sung slowly like a ballad ..big miss on susans part

  83. S.... ....

She's Scottish is a lovely person famous and she can sing has a lot going for her she's a multi millionaire I think you folk who hate her are sad.

  84. S.... ....

What does it matter what she looks like Elton Johns not exactly Brad Pitt is he?

  85. F.... ....

WOW Susan you are amazing! You are great please make more albums!

  86. M.... ....

    10 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 000 X LIKE

  87. P.... C....

its nice, but her voice is amazing compared to today's singers but i like the original by the monkees but she is great

  88. P.... C....

    @JessOvBHE she kinda does

  89. F.... N....

This woman's voice is truly, truly, incomparable. I love it, love it!

  90. h.... ....

    Wow....
    Love it!
    Susan you're amazing!

  91. E.... M....

@Ginge220 actually, this arrangement was done by Mary Beth Maziarz. I personally can't stand the Monkees version. This song really gets to the real heart of it. For reference, see Dawson's Creek soundtrack (Mary Beth's version).

  92. P.... ....

    zzzzz........

  93. D.... N....

She's got a mint voice but the original was better

  94. N.... W....

    Killed it

  95. A.... ....

@GreenAshR46 It's called "ornamentation." Also, the original melody, note for note, would be pretty damn boring at this tempo, wouldn't you agree?

  96. t.... ....

one of the best voice i've ever heard, susan boyle is awesome, and this version of the song is also better than the orignal one.

  97. M.... C....

This woman was an overnight sensation for a reason. She is brilliant!

  98. K.... H....

    beautiful voice! we love you!

  99. J.... ....

i was just listening to the monkees version and realised that she kinda looks like micky delenz did when he had curley hair xD....except i love micky :3 <3 lol
