Or the people who expect it, often times demand it and don't understand how to share it. Don't let yourself down. The song really is to not have unrealistic expectations, you set yourself up fail if you want more than what you are willing to put in or get out of it, rather than not just something we own.

Loving someone will often put you in position of sadness, disappointment and unhappiness ... because love comes with it the whole package of not just happiness but also all the negative emotions in the world ... and if the person you love does not love you with the same commitment that you do for him/her, you're gonna suffer ... a lot ... the question to ask is if its worth it ... there's no fixed "correct" answer because every relationships is unique .. for example if a person leads a hard life and is put down by society at large, they are going to find every little drop of appreciation from someone else to be the most precious thing in the world, even if there someone sometimes treats them badly ... its still better than the rest of other people they know, so they suffer willingly because half a love is still way better than no love at all ...
