Hahaha. People are seriously complaining about artists today calling themselves punk & saying greenday is punk. Greenday are legit one of the least punk bands around today, I mean they're making a fucking musical! punk has been dead for years. I don't have anything against greenday or bands of that genre but to say that it is punk is fucking ridiculous. That said greenday wasn't a bad band in the 90s, they were far from the best but they were ok.

yes 1994, but they never made an album until 2002 so about 10 years of being known on a large scale.

How did Green Day sell out, They no longer act like they are 20, due to the fact they are 40, I don't think you would want a song about what they used to sing about, and if they tried to talk about anything like that these days, it would never work with the same sound they had before. Plus why would you want to listen to the same thing for 25 years.
