Te durne komentarze, nie chodziło mu o wygląd Warszawy w latach 70. tylko o jej tragiczna historię. Ale Polacy potrafią tylko opluć samych siebie. Nic nowego.

Ok. I m gonna share this. I was born the very same night 20 jun 76 when Ian and his mates attended in Manchester to a sex pistol s concert and decided to form a band facing Pistols attitude. And Warszawa was the choice to the band s name after the release of this masterpiece by Bowie & Eno. And so post punk was created! And so did i😀

Our whole life met here in this place, our autonomy our black star in Lazarus; ours of hours to be carbon again.

  32. J.... S....

Milion razy ciekawsza była Warszawa w latach 70-tych niż obecna.

  33. P.... B....

I am just crying, Poland sufferd so much in the past. Now we re just everywhere.

    P.... B....

Jews suffered much more (I'm not even thinking about post-XX century). Poland just kind of was there, vanished, appeared again, like many other European countries.

    P.... B....

@Dumny Polak z Wielkiej Lechii can we please stop talking about jews for a while and focused on Poles? The whole song is about that cold atmosphere in Warsaw caused by war, cant you feel the saddnes?

  34. s.... ....

    Greetings from Warszawa.

  35. H.... ....

I once went to Warsaw (on a train with Iggy Pop)

  36. .... h....

Bowie came to Poland and he found depth of life! Beautiful!

  37. R.... I....

    80s before the 80s

  38. P.... ....

Warszawa sounds like a beautiful and solemn commemoration of triumph through sacrifice and suffering. There are many rare songs on his Berlin years albums Low, Heroes, Stage and Lodger. They really showcase the genius of Bowie at peak, truly brilliant.

  39. P.... H....

The band Joy Division was actually called Warsaw first! Inspired by David Bowie's song "Warszawa". To avoid confusion with the London punk band Warsaw Pakt, the band renamed themselves Joy Division in early 1978, borrowing the name from the sexual slavery wing of a German concentration camp!

So the song fits the pictures of Warsaw 1945. The city was purposely destroyed by the Germans to 90%!

City of Ruins (Warsaw of 1945)

Anyway, that's not Polish, what you hear in the song!

  42. D.... D....

Probably the saddest melody ever composed.

Tal vez es la melodía más triste jamás compuesta.

  43. R.... M....

  44. T.... ....

Thank you Youtube Algorithms, for not interrupting this masterpiece with random Chal Mendes that's very happy to do whatever he's doing and just wants to say thank you damn it, he's getting emotional about it.

@Remdey Fox Then change your profile picture

    R.... F....

@Tycini1 why would i do that?

    R.... F....

    Poland is not a city

  49. K.... ....

There is no doubt that this song perfectly matches with some kind of post-apo vibe. Well, that is not weird considering post WW2 Soviet-occupied Poland (1944-1989) was seriously in a catastrophic state. THOUSANDS of square kilometres covered with contrete of monotonous, socialist realistic building structure. Tens of THOUSANDS of gray monochromatic blocks of flats. Another THOUSANDS of square kilometres of state-owned farmlands.

  50. P.... S....

Amazing song, easy to learn aswell

  51. S.... ....

This completely doesn't sound like other works of Bowie. This music is almost haunted.

  52. J.... ....

I'm sick of having to grow.

This is some advanced shit. Way ahead of its time.

  64. K.... F....

One of the finest tunes Eno made under his David Jones alias

  65. T.... J....

Such a mysterious, primordial sound on this track. This reaches back into the earliest ages, into the ancient depths of time, way back, beyond the meager reach of our current understanding of history.
Back beyond, back beyond, back beyond...

  66. a.... ....

I can only find a notes saying Bowie did the vocals. The first five lines yes, but the rest - 'Cheli venco deho' onwards? Does anyone know?

This is my favourite track from his album Low,released in January 1977,with a help from Brian Eno,and I still like it.

  71. b.... w....

....... Eno told Mary Harron of Punk Magazine about the composition excitedly; ''The main theme inspired by a figure of three consecutive notes that Tony Visconti and Mary Hopkin’s four-year-old son Delaney kept playing on the studio piano.''

WHAT An Amazing album !! Every song is Great ! Sounding like the 1980's in 1976 ???? STATION TO STATION was the last "Bowie" album and this was the First "Amazing" DAVID BOWIE ALBUM OF THE NEW ERA !!! WAY BETTER THAN HEROES ! As good as Lodger and Scary Monsters; THE GENIUS !!

  77. S.... V....

I got this on vinyl. But sadly I couldn't understand this song. Anybody mind explaining the whole second side to me?

    S.... V....

If you read the title it says the name of Polish capital city- Warszawa. Song Was made in 70's so i think it might describe the atmosphere There. The situation back Then Was really bad. Communist took over our country and made it socialst, so really poor at the same Time. There were only few things to buy in shops and still it Was really hard to get them. People were able to turn back on eachother every Day just to get something better etc. I hope i helped you, if that was what you meant. And if you have any other questions, ask Then.

    S.... V....

@Dawid Masny yeah that helped. Thanks. Btw I knew Warszawa is the capital but I didn't know why he named the song that. Now I know. Thanks.

  78. P.... D....

Heard this forty years ago - the music lifted me into a place of peace. Alone but yet not alone. Thanks Mr. Bowie.

  79. J.... D....

  83. L.... G....

Di grande suggestione, tragicità, eccezionale. Penso perfettamente riuscita nel trasmettere quanto sentiva.

  84. .... ....

Im glad I was born in 2003 in Poland. I have my peace.

  85. P.... L....

I wonder what made him create a song like this

    P.... L....

Situation in socialist Polish Cities. It Was really bad back Then, evetything Was just Grey, Black or White, There were only few, hard to get things in shops. The relations between People ( neighbours) were really bad, they could turn back on eachother to get smthg better etc. It's aswell possible that he meant Warszawa( Polish capital city- Warsaw) after the 2nd WW, which made City look like ruines.

  86. D.... L....

Someone send me a link too this ugh well first i wish their was English caption for it second this should be in twilight zone episode i think hmm

    D.... L....

The text doesn't have any sense/ doesn't mean anything i think. It's not in Polish for sure

  87. A.... R....

    Maravilhoso!

  88. D.... M....

    Tremendo

  89. M.... J....
