Bowie, David - Hang On To Yourself (Arnold Corns Version) Lyrics

Father had a good thing going, and you know, mama had a thing on
My baby got out last Monday and me I'm on a radio show

So come on, come on, we've really got a good thing going
Come on, come on, if you think we're gonna make it
You better hang on to yourself

My father had a good thing going, and you know mama had a thing on the street
My baby got out last Monday and me I'm on a radio show

So come on, so come on, we've really got a good thing going
Well come on, well come on, if you think we're gonna make it
You better hang on to yourself

Well come on, come on, we've really got a good thing going
Come on, come on, if you think we're gonna make it
You better hang on to yourself

Well come on, come on, we've really got a good thing going
Well come on, well come on, if you think we're gonna make it
You better hang on to yourself

Ah, alright, alright, come on, he, come on...

speed this up to 1.25x and its almost like the ziggy version

  2. kabeauregardajax

This version then the Long Beach 73 version. It's pretty punk. What a great intro.

  3. Bobby Arp

    Ok, this is awesome

  4. Inchiostra

I recommend you play it at x1.25 speed

although the original speed is important, this one makes the song much more enjoyable imo

ok people....arnold corns was not a person bowie collaborated with, and no "arnold" doesnt sing on this record. the arnold corns is the name of bowies band before became ziggy. taken from the early, syd barrett-era song "arnold layne". sort of a pre-ziggy thing he was trying on...so u have these early versions of songs that ended up on ZSATSFM like moonage and this one. check out the arnold corns version of "moonage". its the cutest thing ever.

    kkh369

@Joshua Savoie Yes, I did. Maybe you should learn to fucking READ.

    kkh369

@duane dogsdayout Duane? I apologize. I commented and you elaborated, and then I was rude. Since it was like 7, 8 months ago, I don't even remember why. Nothing to do with you, I'm sure. I don't usually do that, and my apology is sincere.

This Joshua guy? He still gets the finger though, big time. Night all.

    Joshua Savoie

I hate reading and You're not my REAL dad anyway!

    kkh369

@Joshua Savoie XD You just need more Bowie in your life!

Just saw a Bowie documentary and Arnold Corns was mentioned...had to look it up and sure enough this is their collaboration.

    kkh369

so while this designer guy, freddie burretti was supposed to be "arnold corns", really it was just bowie and the spiders. this burretti dude sang one song but i dont think it was ever released. he was a fashion designer...see my above comment about "arnold corns"

    Pink Steel Lotus

@kkh369 Yup. If you contrast the two song versions, man what a difference. Bowie's version is much more sophisticated. "Arnold Corns" made it sound lollipop-ish (not my cup of tea).

  27. bowiebimbo

Wow! I certainly didn't know this version existed until now... Awesome! Even more awesome pics I didn't know about either! I love being surprised! Thank you for this:)

  28. Thinwhiteduke Bowie
