For me the visual narrative in this video seems to be saying that in our society people follow these trivial empty fashion trends (for example in this video the meaningless gestures that the dancers learn from Bowie's nightclub perfomance...) whilst ignoring the real issues in society epitomized by the homeless people cueing for soup... this is all interspersed with adverts for products to provide further distraction. Finally at the end the girl in blue comes to her senses and 'wakes up' (mirroring a gesture that Bowie makes at the start when he yawns) she looks around at the other dancers and realises the stupidty of what they are doing, and becomes an awakened citizen. That's what I get out of it anyway... :)
