Bowie, David - Black Tie White Noise Lyrics

Getting my facts from a Benetton ad
I'm lookin' thru African eyes
Lit by the glare of an L.A. fire
I've got a face, not just my race, Bang
Bang I've got you babe
Sun comes up and the man goes down
And the woman comes again
Just an hour or so to be safe from fear
Then we jump thru hoops, we're
divisible now, just disappear
We reach out over race and hold each other's hands
Then die in the flames singing "we
shall overcome"
Whoa! What's going on?
There'll be some blood no doubt about it
But we'll come thru don't doubt it
I look into your eyes and I know
you won't kill me
You won't kill me
You won't kill me
But I look into your eyes
And I wonder sometimes

Oh Lord, just let him see me
Lord, Lord just let him hear me
Let him call me brother
Let him put his arms around me
Let him put his hands together.

Reach over race and hold each
other's hands
Walk thru the nite thinking we are the world
Woa! What's going on?
There'll be some blood no doubt about it
But we'll come thru don't doubt it
I look into your eyes and I know you won't kill me
You won't kill me
You won't kill me
But I wonder why
Yes, and I wonder why sometimes

They'll show us how to break the rules
But never how to make the rules
Reduce us down to witless punks
Facist cries both black and
white, who's got the blood,
who's got the gun.

Putting on the black tie, cranking
out the white noise
(Just a fool!)

@Yuki Eiri that to me is the worst album he made in the 90s. It's not bad,far from it, but it isn't an amazing album.

I like earthling as well. But outside was bowies best album. I like weird music.
Outside is bowie at his best. The video for hearts filthy lesson is a masterpiece.

This great CD for me is really a Nile Rodgers album.

    i.... ....

I think you are wrong. It may be right to say that Let's Dance is just as much a Rodger's album as a Bowie album, but not this one. Bowie had a lot more control on this album, and Rodgers was very frustrated (as he has stated many times in interviews) because he wanted to make Let's Dance 2, but Bowie wanted something more artistic. In my opinion, BTWN is far better than Let's Dance.

  31. L.... ....

    RIP David.
ALL Planet Earth, miss you !!
(PS : if you see ZIggy Stardust send it our regards, ok ?)

    Bless you D B !

  35. f.... a....

Este loco no tiene ni un álbum malo, la puta madreee

  36. D.... W....

David was a truly great musician. This album probably isnt even in the top 10 of the best albums he produced. Yet there is still a lot of great music in Black Tie White Noise. Personally i think he made his best music in the 90s.

  37. k.... ....

Isn't David so phenomenal such talent and genius that can't be measured through his legacy. His voice, his looks, everything about him is the personification of absolute perfection. 😘❤️💗💖👌 xxxxxx

  38. m.... s....

Inspiring......come together not break apart...........completion is the center

  39. R.... ....

This is my favourite Bowie single and the video inspired me to purchase a double breasted suit!

    "Let him call me brother..."
    https://www.nationalgeographic.com/magazine/2018/04/race-genetics-science-africa/
When you split the masses over something as stupid as skin colour, 'we' are already beat.
    Or 'witless punks' said here.

  42. M.... ....

I wish it wasn't so hard to comprehend what was really happening here as cool as it is, all the bizarre key changes and uncertain structure... its just a shame that the message is kinda lost, more obsequious than usual.

  43. D.... W....

Bowie made his best music in the 90s

  44. R.... M....

Gotta have balls to wear electric blue on set

  45. M.... S....

    Extremely underrated.

  46. I.... M....

Sir, I cant get you off my mind, love you always & as long as I live

  47. R.... N....

Grossly underrated Bowie track & video... not an easy vocal duet, with all its parts & harmonies... Nile Rodgers organizes it with funky perfection

  48. t.... ....

Missing you David..., never to be repeated 😎💝💗

  49. k.... ....

    Daaaaamn, he was seeeexxxy!

  58. R.... B....

Sorry David, this style of music does not suit you at all.

    R.... B....

    you don't suit David

  59. G.... B....

at 1:29 he looks like Stan Laurel, only seen him do that face in two or three videos

  60. S.... A....

Bowie pushed boundaries and touched on subjects that most middle, class white Americans were about to be exposed to not only in music but culture as well

  61. D.... D....

Thank you uploader. Bring it on!

  62. R.... ....

Good. Could fit in a Persona 5 OST.

  64. R.... H....

    Elegant

  65. U.... ....

Does anyone know if David actually knew how to play saxophone?

    U.... ....

Uziahlavada he did. His first instrument was a plastic sax. And in his youth his aspiration was to be a background sax player for Little Richard

    U.... ....

David played quite a lot of small sax parts on his albums. I recommend Subterraneans and Neukolln and rest of Low/heroes albums as examples of his most interesting and adventurous playing

  66. D.... J....

David Bowie is so orgasmic. 🔥🔥🔥

  69. D.... S....

I goddamn love this album, it's Soo underrated

  70. C.... C....

My favorite parts are when Bowie plays his saxophone!!

    C.... C....

i love his saxophone playing. it reminds of the way george harrison does the slide guitars as there's just something so pure when you hear it.

    C.... C....

His sax playing was VERY prominent on this album.
Possibly more so than any other.

  71. L.... C....

Been listening to this album since they put "Jump They Say" on this channel. It's such a cool album!

  72. E.... ....

My heart. David is my hero, role model and king. I miss him so much and seeing his face is exactly what I needed today
