Boston - Corporate America Lyrics

Who can stop de-evolution of the human race?
Look at you, Corporate America, you're in disgrace
Globalize; cigarettes, business jets, you love it
Maximize; but you can take your bottom line and shove it

Gotta get away (gotta get away)
Gotta get away, but I need a little help tonight
What 'ya gonna say (what 'ya gonna say)
What 'ya gonna say when you never even seen the light
See the light

Corporate America, look out, look out
Corporate America, who's gonna save us, who's gonna save us now?

You and I; DVDs, SUVs and cyberspace
Flying blind, virtual reality is in our face
This Earth desecrated by the human race
Now what's it worth? When do we evacuate to outer space?

Corporate America, look out, look out
Corporate America, who's gonna save us, who's gonna save us now?

I see the future in the past
Just took the corner way too fast, the reckless ride of modern man
Flattened everything that stands
Fooled by the sales pitch for progress at a dizzy pace
We idolize the filthy rich for giving us synthetic taste
Computer calls, urban sprawl
Is the world a better place, is the world a better place?

Fare thee well, global extinction's forever
So what the hell, order your Mercedes in leather
Veal crates, ozone holes, and toxic waste
And don't count out religious hate
Who can survive this manmade fate?

Gotta get away
Gotta get away, and I need a little help tonight
What 'ya gonna say
Wha 'ya gonna say when you couldn't even see the light
See the light
Yeah

Boston Corporate America Comments
  1. f.... c....

Scholtz with his unmistakable signature guitar sound/tone. The drums sound buried, but it sounds like Boston. Scholtz's guitar really cuts through it all.

  2. R.... P....

I am depressed saying this... but I just finished the album and I feel like I just heard a mild spiced band that made a demo and the most notable thing about it is that Tom Scholz is playing guitar and Brad Delp did some cameos. Is that a female singer doing a "singer songwriter" song in the middle? I'm hard pressed to think of this as "American hard bock band, Boston". Maybe I need more time with it. "Turn it off" is pretty good... if not a little dark...

  3. P.... T....

It's nice. I'm 10 minutes into this album; never heard it before. I'll report back later.

  4. D.... ....

With the exception of the fourth song, can listen to this album over and over and over again! (Seriously, that fourth song sucks ass!)

  5. D.... S....

I think the situation is Tom did everything possible on the first 2 albums. I can hear almost exact tape music segments from then on the other 3 albums.
This is tecno music so the sound will be similar. Nothing can top the guitars, keyboard or singing on the first 2 albums.
I think Tom should have headed into an avant garde "space' type music.

  6. T.... Q....

What a song I Had A Good Time and Brad kills himself, what a fucking shame!

  7. C.... E....

I love this album but Even if you didn't like this album, Boston or this type of music, you cant deny the Vocals and harmonies, some of them are crazy good & how they worked them out, that's talent

  8. K.... ....

Why can’t you purchase this album in iTunes?

  9. l.... s....

    Great album! Thank you!

  10. m.... ....

    this album is amazing!!

  11. r.... ....

This is too commercial sounding for my tastes

  12. F.... ....

    They need a rock singer.

  13. .... ....

Хоть и без Брэда Дэлпа, но тоже - Вполне. Зачет.

  14. h.... p....

Put aside that it is ‘Boston’ while I’m listening to it, it was very pleasant. It gave me a ‘distant’ familiar feeling, but not really any of the enthusiasm that came with the first two releases.
Still a great relaxing album, for me, but definitely not what I would go to, if I want the hard rock sound of the early days. Evolution can be great, or it can be a let down, but the choice is up to the ears hearing and the heart feeling it. I would equate this to the change The Cars made, from their debut album, to Door To Door, both incredible on their own, but the latter in no way would make you feel like the first one.

  15. D.... B....

I hate the way tom records there albums..especially the drums..always very weak sounding and very weak base drum..terrible

  16. P.... E....

Someone sounds like Alice Cooper in 'Turn It Off'.

  17. R.... M....

I enjoy this Album, not really into the special interest hyped up message, they bought a little too heavy into Al Gore which obviously missed the mark by two decades and a half and counting. Still waiting for Manhattan to be underwater by six feet. Otherwise, i love the tunes, a heavy 'eh' to the message.

    R.... M....

Just you wait...they'll be right. It was already known that big tobacco had f*cked up the country's populace. And now opioid producers have joined in...

  18. P.... o....

    This is horrible

    P.... o....

You've got no taste bit like your picture !!!

  19. B.... V....

Terrible compositions, frankly, Delp's work with Return to Zero (RTZ) is far more interesting than what Boston has been up to after Third Stage.

  20. E.... E....

    SUX DIX

  21. J.... B....

Can someone tell me why "Didn't Mean to Fall in Love" ended up on both "Corporate America" and "Life, Love and Hope"?

  22. J.... R....

    Boston forever 🐕

  23. S.... W....

As good as ever , you cannot mistake their individual sound !!!!!!

  24. L.... H....

    BOSTON ROCKS...❤✌🤘✌🤘❤🌹🌹🌹🌹✌🤘❤

  25. S.... C....

    😁 raised on the best ! ✌

  26. K.... N....

    Drum Computer!

    K.... N....

Sound sucks. Songs suck. Will Go back On Time

  27. M.... ....

Even the intro song on this album is incredible.

  28. s.... ....

This could be so good if only the drums were/sounded like real drums. I don't understand Tom when it comes down to drums, but I love his vision on guitar sound .

    s.... ....

    Agreed. The drums suck here!

    s.... ....

After the first two albums, drums in Boston are an example of Scholz not knowing his own limitations while also thinking nobody else could measure up. Most times he was probably right... but drums... no. It seems like he didn't have enough respect for the craft of drumming to leave it to a drummer. Either that, or he just has an ear for drum tones I can't get behind.

    s.... ....

@Roy Plisko Makes sense to me.

  29. f.... ....

Album takes a bad hit, but I don't see why.  Great stuff...just the evolution of a great band.  You can't fault them for changing after what...4 decades?  They've kept their classic sound, which is a gem.  Hope they'll continue, and tour again.

  30. S.... R....

Been listening to Boston since they first came out. Love their music. Over 60 now and it always brings me back to the early days. Will be listening till the day I die. Hope I get to see Brad and the others on the other side. Rock on!

  31. S.... C....

I can only do bostons 1st 2 albums ! That being said i gotta say those are 2 of my all time favorites ! Along with trower ,bridge of sighs , bowie ziggy stardust, travers go for what u know , trapeze u are the music ! 😎 tommy bolin ,teaser n private eyes ! 🤘

    S.... C....

Jesus, you have good ears, my friend! Pat and Tommy are magicians and BRIDGE OF SIGHS is forever a masterpiece!

  32. I.... s....

If they are not in hall of fame then there is no fame

  33. I.... s....

Can't believe I missed it for 15 years access

  34. I.... s....

    Changed my life

  35. c.... O....

Im fucked up.. i went from Jr. high- high school ( 1976-78 ) to this!.. it's like jesus making his second coming because someone told him he had a fortune 500 sponsor...

  36. D.... ....

The 1st album was awesome, Don't Look Back had 2 good songs on it, Don't Look Back and Feeling Satisfied. 3rd Stage was good but after that it just kinda went downhill. Still a great band though.

    D.... ....

Really? I think every song is good on both those albums, and walk on is also great

  37. t.... ....

It's so bizarre. When I first heard this, I thought Tom Scholz had missed the mark. Just didn't see what he was trying to do. Now, in the current political/business climate, it all makes perfect sense. As in so many other things, Boston was just a little ahead of its time. Going into rotation.

  38. K.... L....

    GREAT !

  39. M.... N....

After trying to listen to it now I know why I never did! Sorry mr. Schultz. Pretty much misses every Major mark that makes a Boston album a Boston album! I never ever thought I'd be saying this.

    M.... N....

I am doing the same thing, listening to it after like 5 years. We'll I didn't like it the first time and my opinion hadn't changed
Too commercial sounding, it is missing the magic of the first 2 albums.

  40. T.... L....

Nobody has a voice like Brad's. Just amazing. No comparison. Fran is good, but Brad's was the voice of Boston. We all miss you Brad! Still sad about your passing. :(

  41. g.... ....

    fran's live vocals were amazing

  42. J.... ....

The best tracks on this were Cosmos.. how sad is that. I Had A Good Time sounds like a first effort from a high school garage band. It's like Tom had a stroke and became 12 years old again. And what's with the glee club vocals? Sheesh

    J.... ....

F off, this is just GREAT! Can you do better? Doubt it, mouth

    J.... ....

One doesn't have to be talented at any given discipline to have an opinion on it either way. If only those who could not do better were the ones to purchase it, no one would buy it. On the other hand, no one bought this album so....

  43. D.... M....

As much as I hate to admit it, this album is pretty bad. A few ok songs but man it’s disappointing.

  44. J.... B....

Hmm. Not for me. I'm not going to put it down. I actually gave it a good listen, and there's some good stuff in there, but it's not what I am looking for when I want to hear Boston. It's a problem with most older bands who I grew up with, when they make a more modern album. It's part nostalgic, but it's also a certain sound they had captured at that time, that you grew up with and loved. There's nothing wrong with this album. I thought there was a lot of elements that did capture some of the old sounds but not enough for me to keep it in rotation. Much love to Boston though, it's been a part of my life since I was a child.

    J.... B....

Dude, it has nothing to do with nostalgia. They actually could record a drum kit BETTER in 1976 than these shitty 2002 computer-sounding drums.

    J.... B....

@RadioGnome Agreed. Boston drums started sounding like shit from The Third Stage on. Tom really needed to find more drummers in his life. Sequenced drums just don't cut it. Scholz seems to think it was drummer limitations...without also knowing his own limitations.

  45. D.... B....

    More like Braintree...

  46. a.... ....

Irony to be had is that Boston was one of the biggest stooges of corporate radio. They were as lame-brained, vapid, over-produced, processed, as they come. Oh, and CA is a shitty album.

  47. S.... V....

Stare Out Your Window is the first Boston song I ever had to skip past. Gawd, even nothing on Walk On was that bad...

  48. L.... C....

this is rockfresipesado sounds like linkyn park at times.

  49. j.... e....

i didnt know this existed....it took a few listens.....i like it a lot!!

    j.... e....

This is known as reinventing....Tom you a simply amazing

  50. l.... e....

Toujour et encore delicat et puissant, le frisson!!! Merci de france

  51. M.... I....

The fake drums on this are SO FUCKING LAME!!!!!

  52. s.... ....

I got hooked on More then a Feeling first time I heard it the week it came out.Not to promote Heroin,I think I seen somewhere that they where strung out a lot ,Don't care.If that is true they did some amazing work I like how Tom Sholtzs is a perfectionist. He can spend 10 years in his studio to come up with new stuff.I'm not a big fan of the new singer, but I think it is a cool ass story how he got the job.

  53. T.... ....

    I can't believe It's been 15 years

  54. C.... H....

Thank you for posting this full Album!

  55. C.... H....

trying to find this cd forever, liked this one too. Brad's voice WAS BOSTON! I will miss HIM FOREVER! Tried listening to Boston's music, after Brad left, it's ok. But just not the same, for me!

    C.... H....

Cindy Howell you’re right Brad Delp was Boston

    C.... H....

of course, then again boston wasn't boston even WITH brad, for many many years. They didn't record a solid album after 1986. i love them but these are pretty much facts.

  56. T.... C....

    Just discovered Boston again

  57. M.... S....

Boston one of my favorite band i heard them in tucson arizona rip brad

  58. M.... ....

Different, which is okay. Either way it's still a good listen.

  59. l.... ....

This shouldn't even be called a Boston album. The only good Boston tracks are: Didn't Mean to Fall in Love, Someone, and I Had a Really Good Time. The rest are from a long lost GooGooDolls/Oasis album.

  60. L.... S....

    Lorena S. Centella G.
I mean it, I have said before, Boston is my #1 rock band and this album, is so hard to find it, in iTunes and in stores; thanks x all your efforts and the will to share it with all of us that appreciate real good music.
And, of course, is shows an evolution in some sounds, mixes & arrangements, but the essence of Boston's music is throught out all the songs: good harmony in voices, in guitars, drums & keyboards.
Great job pal! Thanks to Tom Scholz, Brad Delp (RIP) & all of you Boston x great songs that bring back good memories & the joy of enjoying the present times

  61. G.... D....

    This is good.

  62. C.... B....

Ever hear about experimenting on some new stuff? They are putting their signature sound behind in lieu of something new. And there are some changes in personnel. Very good Boston. Keep rockin Scholz and company. A best band of all time!

  63. B.... ....

I hate how people say this album isn't good, it's fucking amazing. Some hints of classic Boston with a little bit of a twist, amazing album.

    B.... ....

    You have shit for brains.

    acrovader well ok then

BOSTON TRES BON GROUPE DE HARD ROCK MELODIQUE

  66. i.... ....

Thinkyouknowmusic on Twitter brought me here.

  67. R.... N....

WHY IS THIS BAND NOT IN THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME?

    R.... N....

@John-Del Tom Scholz is the one who said it. I for one think they should be in the HOF because both albums in my opinion were the soundtrack to the 70's.

    R.... N....

@Matthew Fox Scholz is wrong. Again, Steely Dan and Heart are two examples of "bands" that made the HOF. I think they made four great albums and think that comes up short for a lifetime body of work, but if you want to reduce their portfolio submission to the first two albums, you're really hurting your argument. Now if you want to say that they could have take the first two albums and split the hits over 6 albums and used filler, you might have a good point, but that didn't happen. In any case, don't worry about the HOF. It was only relevant for a short time. It's no dishonor not to be inducted, and no honor to be.

    R.... N....

For me this album is great - the most diverse of all...still this recognisable guitar sound ...Great AOR music

    R.... N....

Because it's not run by the fans, it's run by corporate america.

    R.... N....

For the same reason so many great groups aren't in the R&R Hall of Fame. The answer is sad, and you can probably already figure it out.

  68. C.... D....

    this album is awesome

  69. E.... H....

WTF? this is very good, i hate 70´s but this 70s-80s underated good stuff!!

  70. T.... ....

Very weak Album...the first 3 LP`S are much better.

    T.... ....

weak but strong. proud but humble.

    T.... ....

    Right On...Boston Forever...

    T.... ....

Its not bad, just different. If a band made music like this and then switched to what old Boston sounded like, fans would be mad. I get why people don't like it, but that is completely an opinion

  71. A.... ....

"Turn It Off" sounds like Filter, while "Cryin'" reminds me of Oasis.

    A.... ....

i thought i heard something about cigarettes in the third track entitled corporate America

  72. R.... C....

I remember putting this cd in the car of a best buy parking lot. I had a good time sent a chill up my spine. no one makes sounds like tom scholz. no one.

  73. J.... ....

I think I had a good time is one of their best songs

    J.... ....

    totally agree

  74. O.... ....

This album was just a mess, nothing on it worth playing twice. And it took too long to make. And while Tom Sholz's Rockman tone was cool in the 80s, it's pretty lame these days.

    O.... ....

    to each his own

    O.... ....

johnsoncm65 I love the tone. The songwriting is weak here.

    O.... ....

    Corporate America rocks

  75. j.... j....

i don't see why this is getting so much hatred it sound like a great album and the heavy synths i think i like it since i like synth metal don't bother me at all i guess just like imagine dragons and fall out boy boston became a band that i like but everyone else hates and and i listen to oasis before but never knew what the name of the band was because i like britpop since it combines alternative with glam and punk music especially since i like glam punk bands like new york dolls and glam metal bands like van hellen and kiss so i think this is a great transition to sound and so i think all boston albums are great since this album and the next one have similar sounds as much as i like the similar sounds in the first 4 albums and i think saying the last 2 of the 6 boston albums is terrible is like saying grunge is terrible

  76. m.... r....

Tommy DeCarlo is a great singer.

    m.... r....

    tommy isnt on this album

  77. D.... T....

Somebody below said, "Sorry, Tom - you can't reinvent the wheel." Well, here's how it goes: Tom Sholz invented many wheels, and maybe he'll never surpass the original album, he's still a fucking genius. When some of you can do better, let's hear it. Tom on this record is just pulling out the fragments from his depths, and his depths are better than yours. So haters, shut the fuck up.

    D.... T....

    Well said.

    D.... T....

we can recreate the pyramid so to speak.

    D.... T....

as well as cones and spheres

  78. F.... V....

Why isn't this album available on iTunes?

    F.... V....

Because not even Boston liked this album. They admitted it sucked after it failed to sell when it came out.

    F.... V....

They were hoping we would forget it existed.

  79. C.... M....

Kim Dahme may be talented, but has no place in Boston. Several songs sound like Oasis. Best track is #1. Tracks #3 and #4 are decent. Track #10 is a "live" repeat of a song from the "Walk On" album. The rest is garbage. Sad to say the follow up album "Life, Love and Hope" is almost as bad. Last kick ass album Boston had was 1995's "Walk On". Go listen to that for the real Boston sound.

    C.... M....

A hundred years from now, Walk On will be known as one of the greatest pure rock albums of all time. The last true Boston Album. Sad.

  80. j.... ....

Finally forcing myself to listen to this album...though I've had it for years. I could never get through it....it's not as bad as I remember. Turn it Off is actually REALLY good. I guess I never even got that far on it before. Cryin sounds like Oasis...and I can't stand Oasis.

    j.... ....

turn it off - I didn't give much chance at the time but you're right i find the same feeling today hearing it

  81. D.... D....

Sounds like Linkin Park vocals mixed with late 90's Def Leppard guitars.

    D.... D....

    define park vocals

    D.... D....

Dom's Driveway Thats because Mutt Lang used the tom Scholz Rockman for the def lep guitar sounds

    D.... D....

Dude - the Def Leppard guitars were them using Rockmans - 90's guitars were late 70's/early 80's Boston guitar sounds :)

  82. D.... C....

    perfect emotions

  83. D.... C....

    poland like boston

    D.... C....

and Chicago along with Europe. two other good bands if you believe it to be. change your mind and turn left.

  84. S.... D....

still has that Rockman sound though.

    S.... D....

Tom still has a bunch of Rockman gear. It sounds soooo good live.

  85. l.... ....

This album is just dreadful. I mean its just a rehash of the same old chord sequences and sound of their first classic album. Seriously lacking any development in approach, sound and songwriting. Afterthought: Brad Delp was a helluva vocalist and 'the sound of Boston', but the new guy they found, Tommy Decarlo does a pretty damn good job of sounding similar. Obviously this album is pre-passing of Delp, but now a decade and a half on, its clear that Scholz just ran out of ideas.

    l.... ....

Ron: That is so true. One has only so many ideas. I think thats why we see the artists with staying power often collaborating with other artists as time goes by. This brings a morphing of styles and creativity and ultimately a different sound. Hopefully, a good sound!

  86. V.... R....

It just ain't the same without Barry on guitar. This was ok, but was hoping for better. Orion The Hunter puts this to shame and sorry Barry only made one album. His solo album and RTZ are great! Now, if Tom would just let loose on that guitar and play some Rock & Roll...

    V.... R....

    Makes a lot of sense

    V.... R....

Barry wasn't really on the first two Boston albums either. A couple of bars on a couple of tracks. The rest was Scholz. But I do think Barry's style was a *significant* influence for Scholz whether he realized it or not. Once Barry, Fran, and Sib were gone Scholz writing and playing changed.

    V.... R....

Schotz is a control freak, he is a great engineer and s fairly decent guitar player, but Barry's playing is just steallar.
Tom is a weak song writer, if this commercial sounding junk is his best then I am not impressed.

  87. E.... C....

Every time I hear this album it makes me want to cry (and that is not a good thing nor is Life Love and Hope)!

    E.... C....

    crying is cool too

  88. 3.... ....

You can say whatever you think for me this is better album than third stage.

    3.... ....

Hmmm.......don't think so. But that's just my opinion.

    3.... ....

I Agree though that albums songs were out of oridginal order!

    3.... ....

Third stage lit up my ears when I first heard the entire album. I heard Amanda on the radio the day it came out. The next day I bought it on cassette. It sounded absolutely fantastic on headphones.

  89. b.... ....

What a great album!! Sorry they didn't promote this more. Awesome!. Thanks for posting it! BB

    b.... ....

Some fans seem willing to sink with Tom and the rest of the ship.  I'll give them credit for their dedication, but I'd rather "look back" to "Don't Look Back", "Third Stage", the debut, RTZ, or even Orion The Hunter.

    b.... ....

Promoting manure doesn't mean anyone will buy it. It sold a couple of hundred thousand copies, and that was to hard assed Boston fans like me who knew it was crap but bought it anyway. The debut album was never promoted; it took off on it's own merits.

  90. S.... G....

    Not a good album :-(

  91. D.... ....

Kind of weird hearing such synth-heavy songs from Boston, especially knowing how proud they were of their efforts to create unique sounds without modern synths on Third Stage.

    D.... ....

yeah but some group member died if I'm correct ?

    D.... ....

He wasn't dead at the time of this album's release, in fact he recorded on it.

    D.... ....

+Simon CM he died in 2007 I think and Boston's latest album had some of his singing on it in 2013

    D.... ....

probalby because a lot of Third Stage was written and shelved for a while and they didn't incorporate or add any new modern synths.

  92. f.... ....

A valid attempt, but the fire is just gone. Sorry, Tom - you can't re-invent the wheel!....

    f.... ....

If you get a chance to catch them live do it, I just saw them this summer and they were 80-90% as good as the original, a very impressive show and they played all their hits. Tom is still wicked on guitar as is the guy that backs him up and the singer sounds similar to Delp without the huge vocal range but the super high parts are covered by others. It was a great evening brought back high school days for me! Cheers bro!

    f.... ....

They have been rehashing the same wheel for decades!
