Borknagar - The Fire That Burns Lyrics
The fire that burns
The light that governs the heat
Igniting the passion, the eternal appetite
For things to come
For thoughts to create
The spark that glimmers
So that visions appear in a flash
Initiating the chain reaction
Culminating in the very fuel
That drives us on
The independent nature of man
A creator and destroyer
Deeply rooted, widely spread
The will to strive, the need to push
The relentless determination
The adventures of the mind
And the conquest of the flesh
Rise to the summit in perpetual motion
The will to thrive, the will to leap
Above the highest peak
The will to swim
Beneath the lowest deep

Borknagar The Fire That Burns Comments
I don't want to be a dick, but do I hear some Solstafir leanings in the background? I love this record more each day...
Lazare/Lars Nedlund really deserves more praise for his vocal contributions. Especially for the last few albums.
Sufferin Succotash, this is great!
True North
True passion
I love the touch of Solefald....
Vocalists come and go, but Borknagar is Nedland and Brun.
The best album of the age!Really! I"m fond of this!
Best Bork Album
81 FUCKIN' ASSHOLES DISLIKES THIS MASTERPIECE. One of the greatest new era albums of Borknagar.
ICS VORTEX. This is the man \m/
It's sad that Vintersorg had to leave, but at the same time i also wanted Vortex to be lead as he once was. His voice us so awesome and a perfect match for this kind of music. Lazare is also pretty damn great btw.
WTF IS THAT @5:56? Was that literally a Valkyrie?
Those hoarse cries are so cold I almost thought I was in the early nineties.
ICS VOOOOORTEEEEEEX
Vorteeeeex!!!!!
Awesome 🤘🏽🤘🏽
I see Borknagar I click like
From personal experience I can ensure that the song title is absolutely true!!
1 week left!!
I just saw them in Kristiansand!! It was awesome!!!
Vortex is a great bass player too !! Autumn is coming = listen to borknagar
Vortex back to black vox
I hear vortex very nice
it was an HONOR playing with you guys! just AMAZING, big HAILS FROM HONDURAS CENTRAL AMERICA
yep, this is Borknagar, i confirm. Can't say the same about Up North though...
Is sounds like its straight off of Winter Thrice.
Up north is the better track for me.
Looking forward to the album as always
True norwegian sound... excellent!!!
It sounds like an orgasm squirted by the threesome of In Mourning, Opeth and Insomnium
The burning fire!
useless...
Owing all Borknagar's album, I know they will never disappoint. Outstanding band always reinventing themselves.
I would be more than interested in an album with more so of the harsh music and vocals. May so ninety percent, whilst retaining the trademark colossal atmosphere.
And I thought they reached the pinnacle with Winter Thrice. The growls in this are AMAZING! They were the only thing that was a little weak in the latter album, imo.
Get on the 70k Cruise ship next year please
Ok. I want this now.
Lars and simen do all of the vocals the growls sound way less muddy and buried this this time thankfully. Peter ts production on quintessence sucked I hope simens cleans don't get buggered doing both vocal styles thats alot with bass too wow....pro!
❤️❤️❤️
Sorry I just do not like it because I do not have nothing to do ,p
One of the great band that came up in Norway. Heavy, melody and atmosphere. All very well fitted. \,,/
Holy sh$#! That I am speechless. Progressive Black Metal made in a song by Borknagar. First time I’ve ever heard of them and now I leave here knowing that this is the best black metal song I’ve ever heard. Or in the history of black metal for that matter.
I’m amazed. Just wow. What in the world? I consider myself a fan of progressive metal but never in my life have I ever enjoyed a black metal song. Normally when I hear black metal it’s usually Behemoth. But Borknagar just basically one upped them and turned black metal into progressive black metal that revolved into something amazing. #BorknagarNumber1BlackMetalBand
Well, this fire burns all the way.
Am I the only one to feel a little bit diasppointed?
I ain't disappointed. I'm amazed at what Borknagar just did. They created a new genre with black and folk metal genres with progressive and melodic elements. In other words, Borknagar is a progressive black metal band. Taking black metal and combining it with progressive metal and adding folk metal with melodic elements. So there's one reason you think you're disappointed but on the inside you're in an amazing song that created such a really beautiful masterpiece of a song.
@Mark De Mars that's absolutely true for every song of any past album. I'm referring to this specific song: seems to me that this one is just a uninspired copy of a paradigm shown in "urd" and "winter thrice".
All I'm saying is that borknagar is borknagar because it's will to go forward, to offer something new and different. Sadly I'm not seeing anything new nor different
@Franco Pèrili I see what you mean. I just think that it was a masterpiece of a black metal song if I ever heard of. Plus this is the first time I've heard of Borknagar.
I've seen their logo in a video made by Jared Dines and that's about it. But I did do my research and the results are highly amazing.
But I know what you mean exactly. Because everyone has their own opinion.
I havent really ever listened to Borknagar, nor did I realise Lars Nedland was in the band...was listening and thinking, WOW this reminds me of Solefald. I guess im gonna have to check out their discography now.
Lyrics?
is there a fire that doesn't burn?
Are ICS Vortex and Lazare doing vocals on this track, or is there another person too? I've been away from the band for a long time
Yup, Vortex and Lazare.
Cant wait to hear the rest of the album.
🇻🇪
Musica ótima,vocal potente
Where is Ryland ? Where is Vintersorg?
Great band n Song but terrible video
Me encanta 🖤
Fucking awesome...
I usually dislike Vortex' vocals but he sounds pretty good here.
Solid track.
Que bom ouvir o Vortex voltando a fazer os screams, deu uma sensação nostálgica, quase alguns trechos do velho Borknagar.
Indeed. It's a huge (and wonderful) surprise to hear him screaming again. Good old times. Kind of.
Borknagar is pure love to listen ..... Thank You!!!!!!!!!
Borknagar prepare us for,,Winter is coming,,period perfekt match with Nordic winter, that will be excellent album for end of this year,
Holly fuckking wow my mind is gravy! I needed this 😀thankyouforyourexistence
...certain parts brought me chills, certain parts seemed part of a formula.
Veri professionisti! Attendiamo l'album
Alaways brings what I need to hear .. words from the deepest obscurity borknagar +vortex is for the next year we all enjoy that. But yea garm,mr v.,or vortex will always get us all sad and happy
damn was surprised by vortex's growls but Lazare is no slouch either- great chemistry with both- solefald
Never really got that into these guys... but damn 😳
That retro 70s prog mix is superb. Almost forgot about this band, but here i am
This song slays!
se extraña a Virtersorg pero aun así magistral como siempre
Desde la gira en el 2017 que no vino ya se veía en el horizonte su retirada
Is it Vortex doing growls?
Borknagar always needed more Lazare. Nice.
I don't know what you're finding in his voice. It's weak, empty and emotionless. And even more pathetic while performing live.
The song title is a reference to Gods of my World, isn't it? Either way, it's awesome.
Black metal is the classical, symphonic music of the new millennium. So beautiful in it's complexity...........
The fire..sometimes burns jajajajajaajaj
0.50 is solefald
Simplemente majestuoso lml vivan por siempre borkangar
Been a huge fan since '97and I have never been disappointed. This might be one of my favorites thus far! Can't wait to hear the rest.
Dobre w chuj. Będzie pite pod to całą jesień i zimę 🍺. Greatings from Poland !
so great hearing vortex back on main vocals!
drummer-God
Fairly good improvement over Kolstad, that's for sure.
Sounds like Enslaved playing a slowed down version of The Archaic Course
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘.👍
FIRE THAT BURRRRNNNNSSSS *RUBS NIPPLES*
I had no clue they were in studio again or that the lineup changed again but I hope this is the weakest track it doesn't hook me after several listens it's not memorable to me
I agree, it's like a "deja vù",
I'm a fan with great expectations...
I like the snare's sound.
I will admit this is really good, the vocals by ICS and Nedland are excellent. But I will miss Vintersorg and Jens. I was apprehensive about the new album,I will have to see. Hail Borknagar!
amazing guyz !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Intresting.. New song
See, it's shit like this that makes me realize Dimmu Borgir wasn't utilizing ICS Vortex's vocals properly. His harsh black metal vocals destroy Shagrath's imo. I get Shagrath is kind of the 'face' of Dimmu, but some dual harsh vocals would have been epic as fuck and far better than anything since Spiritual Black Dimensions.
Not to be confused with that non-burning kind of fire
Agent orange,a fire that doesn't burn
lol was thinking the same thing. pleonasm.
False passion i see it all the time
I love the growls! Refreshing at last! Borknagar have never disapointed. For those who, like me, love Lazare, check out his other main band, Solefald, my favorite band of all time. Thank you Borknagar, yet again you bring greatness to music. Can't wait til the release. Cheers and stay metal! Horns up!
Horns up. Hang em high forever shall metal remain.
I'm not familiar with Lazare's band, could you please recommend me their best album in your opinion?
@Sir Kitten Lord Of Tuna to start, listen to their first album, Solefald - The Linear Scaffold and work your way through the discography. Every album is a special journey. Not for everyone, but its my favorite band. Horns up and stay safe friend of metal.
@Jonathan Létourneau thank you a lot :)
Majestic coldness!!...
Even through the darkest days this fire burns always
I'm not Nordic... Faaaar from it... But I loooove Borknagar! Its lyrics are... Universal (with PUN INTENDED)!
Hail Borknagar 🤘🏼!
always a pleasure to hear new material from this guys
Same here. Always listening to new stuff a lot. At least from my perspective.
The scream vocals sound like a mix between metalcore and black metal; what happened to the old vocals? Just curious
The regular harsh vocalist is gone.
@Jens Quidman that's sad :c but I'm getting used to the new vocals
@Jens Quidman but so... Who is singing? I mean, excluding the cleans from vortex
Lars, the keyboardist also sings clean. Vortex does the scream
@Jens Quidman now that's new for me :o interesting, thanks!
Norge. Just simple....
Is it Vortex singing even the harsh parts? Wow!
Daniel Roxo yes, as he did on Archaic Course and Quintessence \m/
@Shadow Liege oh boy, this is going to rule so hard!
Love the band..... and this again, is a great song 🤘
