It's prog guys. This is just want the genre is supposed to sound like. Norway gets it right all the time with bands like Enslaved, Solefald, Arcturus etc.

Make up a modernish name for yourself XD they are not exactly progressive but not black metal in the most common place, so I dunno they are not vking metal though, I imagine more of an amorth amarth and obscurity sound when you say vkiking XD

More or less yes. They were straightforward black metal on the debut, folk/viking black on the next 2, prog/avantgarde black metal ever since, now they are getting back some of the black metal riffing of the past, using more local layers at the same time.

Amen. It's always nice to appreciate the pioneers and what they've done for the awesome sound of music. but it's also nice to have music that continues to be made. I can't stand it when put so many limits on what qualifies something as a genre. In all reality, metal has no rules, and no subgenre should have any rules, metal is metal

A stunning music video and a song that fills me with emotion. Norwegian nature is so overwhelmingly beautiful. Luckily we have it almost as good here in Finland...just a few hour drive up north and the nature truly embraces you.

Then listen to Slipknot instead complain about other music.. some think Borknagar is better then Slipknot, and I know i dont like that band, so thats why i dont listen to it, or complain.

Sorry man but Black Metal changed. Its origins died in the 90's in Norway along church burning, murders, etc.
