Boltz, Ray - An Honor To Serve Lyrics

He was just a young man
When he first heard the call
Come and join in the battle
Come and give us your all
And he rose up to follow
Leaving all else behind
And he joined in this song
When he reached the front lines

It's an honor to serve
To join in the fight
To lift up my voice
And to lay down my life
Giving glory to God
Seeking none in return
It's an honor, an honor to serve

Now the day he was captured
They locked him in chains
And though weeks turned to years
Still his faith stayed the same
As his body was broken
His dark hair turned gray
But each night in his cell
He would stand up and say

Now one day the war
Finally came to an end
And he spoke with his heart
As he stood with his men...

"We are honored to have had
The opportunity to serve our country
Under difficult circumstances
We are profoundly grateful
To our commander-in-chief
And to our nation for this day
God Bless America"

As they lifted the flag
At the front of the crowd
I watched him stand up
And bring his hand to his brow
Oh Lord, help me remember
What true honor means
And no matter the cost
To stand up and sing

Just remember, this nation has a former President who detests all military personal

    R.... C....

A former president!?!?! Like the one that's in the White House now has such a great love and respect for our military. (Rolls eyes) You have heard his comments about McCain and other POWS right?
Trump has been in office almost two years and has yet to visit a war zone. Obama went 8 times (the first before he was even in office 3 months) and Bush went 6 times.
I was not a supporter of Obama but Trump isn't much better.

Does this sound like a man who supports our men and women? Or just himself?
Happy Memorial Day! Those who died for our great country would be very happy and proud at how well our country is doing today. Best economy in decades, lowest unemployment numbers for Blacks and Hispanics EVER (& women in 18years), rebuilding our Military and so much more. Nice

Every year at my school a group of kids perform this song and this year some of my friends in music did it. ( sadly I am in band so I couldn't participate) but the song is amazing and this year it made me feel like crying because they did AWESOME. This is a really awesome song and it says that anyone is a hero. And if you play this at speed 2 it sounds like a country song.

+GravityFalls gamer Awesome! Good for you and your school! Yes, it is a great song. I sang it as a trio at my church with two of my buddies as my video played in the background against an accompamiment track. One of the guys who sang does not really sing very well but I chose him because he served in the military and is also a police officer. The congregation loved it!

This is a great song. I first heard it during my senior year in high school. I think it is a great tribute to all men and women who have served, especially the POWs in Vietnam who endured so much.

A country is only as good as how it takes care of its dead and those who protect it. They deserve the best from us!
