almost makes me forget about the mess between Mr.Bolton and the Isley Brothers. For once he didn't do the Celine Dion/ Patti Labelle/ Michael Bolton trademark feature, which is to over sing a tune.

Agree with these comments - Michael comes from a rock background and has transcended into a soulful R&B singer although he has his own voice and style - he sings just like this in a studio with just a keyboard in support... doesn't go in for a lot of post productions or histrionics.  Check out Peter Cox (Go West's) and Peabo Brysons versions also - obviously the original shines -  Bobby Caldwell.

Each is entitled to their own opinion but one thing about Michael Bolton is that he doesn't need to have his voice manipulated by computerised synthesized crap that most RnB Soul singers do today. You may not like his style but Michael has a natural talent that cannot be disputed.

I wrote about 8 songs with Michael Bolton back in the 80's. At some point in 2002 somebody called me and said "Mark, you gotta hear this singer I met, he's the next Michael Bolton" and I said, without skipping a beat......."We didn't need the FIRST one."
