Bobby Darin - I Wanna Be Around Lyrics
I wanna be around to pick up the pieces when somebody breaks your heart,
Somebody twice as smart as I.
Somebody who will swear to be true like you used to do with me,
Who'll leave you to learn that misery loves company, wait and see.
I wanna be around to see how he does it when he breaks your heart to bits,
And that's when I'll discover that revenge is sweet,
As I sit there applauding from a front row seat,
When somebody breaks your heart like you broke mine.
That's when I'll discover that revenge is sweet,
As I sit there applauding from a front row seat,
When somebody breaks your heart like you broke mine,
Like you, like you broke mine.

Bobby Darin I Wanna Be Around Comments
id say this is my favourite version of this song. many great artists have performed this song but never as great as bobby darin
Thanks for the upload .. didn't know Bobby did this ... like it better than Bennett's version. Of course I usually like Darin's covers over the originals anyway. Darin simply was great at covering other songs making it his own and I think that's why, in my belief Sinatra disliked him.
Thank for posted!!!!
One of the finest all around entertainers in history!
Wow..Bobby..what an ending!!! When Bobby wanted to change key..he just did it!!!
Scout4Me1,,Just WHO is on the ivories!!!
Much better than sinatras performance
One of the greatest
The good old singers put so much emotion into their music and their performances, didn't just scream and preen!
I truly believe Bobby would have caught up with Frank and given him competition had he lived longer. He sure had class and can he swing. He didn't do bad with ballads either. Give a listen to Softly, I will Leave you softly. He had it all. What an entertainer!
He looks like some communist revolutionary in the picture
Bobby Darin had the Swing while Tony Bennett had the Blues. I was captured by the Swing. Darin had more Pizazz.
Bobby Darin este oricum in preajma celor care îl iubesc asculta și respectă muzica și moștenirea lăsată de EL!
This is the fifth version I've heard and Bennett rules on it. This is typical BD, not bad but just sayin.
Aș dori că marele Bobby Darin să fie în preajma mea aici și acum! 🌹
this guy sounds like a cunt
1:38 grrrrrr.... bitch.
es lo maximo en cuanto compaginacion de voz y con una orquesta sup erque elva el espiritu
Ce melodie superbă la fel ca și imaginea !
Bobby Darin (born Walden Robert Cassotto; May 14, 1936 – December 20, 1973) .... I was not fortunate enough to have seen this fabulous singer in person but his recordings make him live on and you have to say this cat could swing like few others.
es lo maximo gracias bobby
unico nadie lo supera es un bello momento escuchar esta cancion
so classy!
The pianist is legendary
luvit!! My Kinda Swing!
Super arrangement of this song. Nobody sings it like Sinatra with Basie, but there's certainly room for two great versions! Huge thumbs up!
Anyone who doesn't like this arrangement has no soul 😉
That pianist 🔥
Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo muuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuch BETTERRRRRRRRRRR than the one by that other guy that used to irritate my ears on my mother's AM radio.
THIS is WONDERFUL!
Like After You've Gone, this, to me, is another piece of perfection. Bobby's voice, interpretation, his phrasing, the orchestra, the arrangement......everything....... perfect.
LOVE HAPPY BOBBY <3 MY LOVE BOBBY <3
Bobby does a great presentation with this tune.
Tony Bennetts version is a lot better.
+Liane Layman Absolutely not.
I'm sure this was not posted to compare it to Tony's version...!
Bobby Darin sings this best of all than others whom I have heard sing it….. Bobby has this rich warm quality to his vocals that far surpasses all others, he leaves them all in his wake….. I have the "Two Of A Kind" album which is awesome, both Johnny and Bobby are having a blast singing together which also highlights the enormous respect for the others genius….. This is real music where neither had to scream or use dreadful language to get their point across to their fans….. They are both totally in tuned entertainers at this time who knew how to give their fans the greatest quality of voice, magic and 1,000 percent perfection always…..
REST IN PEACE BOBBY DARIN, YOU STILL ROCK THIS WORLD OF OURS…… THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES YOU LEFT US!!!!
Thanks for this upload, it's awesome.
+EDITH SYMMANS Just Magic
EDITH SYMMANS Tony Bennett is awesome as well. You should check it out
Beautiful!!!
Good orchestral backing. Well, what can u say about BD ? RIP
NICE...
@martadoso9 "Nice" is the best adjective you can put?
@TheGoldenWabbit TGW "FUGGETABOUTIT"...
MARVELOUS
I like Bobby's version better than Tony's. Johnny
Mercer once said that of all the people who'd done his songs, he liked Bobby's best. That takes in a lot of singesr. If you've ever heard the Dari/nMercer album, you can tell it's two guys having a ball recording together.
This is the first time that I've heard Bobby's version, and I agree it is very good. Interesting comment by Johnny, who I met, and who was good friends of the family. I too have the "Two of a Kind" album, and agree that the two of them are just having a ball, each appreciating each other's genius. My favorite is "Bob White".
Absolute class! I never heard this Darin song before, i'm in love with it!
I love Bobby, but it is a mistake to call it a Darin song. Tony Bennett is the one who had a hit out of it. Great lyric by Johnny Mercer, who also wrote the music after Sadie Vimmerstadt sent in the title of the song.
@Bruce Robbins tony sang it when I first heard it but Dinah washington made it her own,,, take a listen to her version .... I love bobby and miss him respectfully
It's a Darin song. Darin's is MUCH BETTER.
Good point. I think most people who are cocky come from fear, or just knowing they do not have long to live think: "What can you possibly do to me that is worse than me knowing I have death tapping at my door?" What a voice, what a man.
He wasn't really cocky. It was his focade. Deep down, Bobby Darin was a very insecure man who knew that his time on earth would be short. He didn't want to appear weak with his heart condition. At least that's the way I see it.
Bobby's way ! sleep warm RIP.
So sexy!!
He sounds sexy. Always liked this guy. Extremely versatile singer, misunderstood and harshly judged by the public because he was cocky. There's room in this world for cocky people.
Darin was in a class by himself---Frank, Dean, Sammy all knew it. He had panache, style, wit, and an ungodly sense of swing and a genius IQ. He could sing jazz, R&B, fol-rock, etc. A gargantuan talent who would have become an American icon.
yes he was (all by himself in the class application) better than sinatra and am sure frank knew it. he was 'cool' and perfect at 23. not so frank. it took a while.
Originally he wanted to be a politician
too bad for Bobby there was Sinatra...For sadly Bobby was always the Sham to Secretariat!
Holy...man sadistic much? I honestly used to think this way about a girl...
utterly brilliant lyric! great version
He thought so too but not so there is just none better than Sinatra
After a break this is a deliciously mischieves song to play
the best i am 59 and i love the the music of the 30-40-50- and 60-and a wee bit of the 70 me and my late father would argue he loved crosbey i loved dean martin he hated matt munroo i loved him but then i heard bobby darinn whoo the best.
love his voice<3
The kids today should check out Bobby Darin. You like Connick, Jr. and Buble? You'll forget their names once you get into Darin. Had he lived, he'd be where Tony Bennett is today, performing, winning Grammy Awards and being the beloved entertainer of our time, but EVEN BIGGER THAN BENNETT! Darin could do it all, but his time ran out. Bad ticker. - A fan
And I always thought Tony's version was sweet! This is the ultimate! Thanks for bringing a smile to my face today.
Wowweee wow wow.........better version than Francis Albert's !!! ......sorry, Mr. Sinatra, sir.
Hey..go easy there, podner!! (I totally agree)
AWESOME!!!
if you like this try im beginning to see the light awsome
One of the great "one finger salute" songs. R.I.P. Bobby
I feel like you just can't compare apples to oranges in anything people, music, food, etc. etc. Too broad a scope.
Bobby always knew how to overcome things in his life.Abrilliant man, performer, song writer and singer.
Bobby rules.....
