Bob Seger - Mainstreet Lyrics
I remember standing on the corner at midnight
Trying to get my courage up
There was this long lovely dancer in a little club downtown
I loved to watch her do her stuff
Through the long lonely nights she filled my sleep
Down on Mainstreet
In the pool halls, the hustlers and the losers
I used to watch 'em through the glass
Well I'd stand outside at closing time
Just to watch her walk on past
Unlike all the other ladies, she looked so young and sweet
As she made her way alone down that empty street
Down on Mainstreet
I drift back in time and I find my feet
Down on Mainstreet
Down on Mainstreet

Let me know about that California divorce I could use the child support and alimony and other standard s Jewish women who's husband's abandoned them.
Did you or did you. not promise my father you would protect me and care for me? I don't see your vow fulfilled. If you want out let me know.
Train wreck.
Hey, my life hasn't been pretty
I love the mysterious and exotic tone of this awesome lyrical and unforgettable song... one of the more truthful and poignant examples of musical history
Seger recorded this song at Muscle Shoals Sound Studios in Sheffield, Alabama. The studio was owned by four of the guys who played on the track: David Hood (bass), Jimmy Johnson (rhythm guitar), Roger Hawkins (drums) and Barry Beckett (keyboards). The lead guitarist on the session was Pete Carr.
While most of Seger's work was done with his Silver Bullet Band, he did make a few trips to Alabama to record at MSSS, taking advantage of the talented musicians and lack of distractions. His hit "Old Time Rock And Roll" was also recorded there.
Think of my dad everytime I hear this still great in 2020

@Edward Chamberlin It was time for a new phase of life. I had achieved my goal and new when to quit. I can honestly say I enjoyed that period time of time in my life. There was a true comrade with the the girls and I met many interesting people along the way..🙂

Back when music meant something...
This is one of the “perfect” recordings (in my opinion). I would not change a note of Seger’s vocals, or any of the accompanying instruments.

Pete Carr is An Incredible guitar player... Legend
The 70s had great rock band’s
I always loved that guitar riff . I remember walking down a street where I
grew up and hearing a band playing it , I had to go inside and have a few
beers with my friends .
There was a girl i went to high school with. Long languid lovely. Wanted to ask her out but never got my nerve up. 8 yrs after school in '98 im livin in another town readin my towns newspaper. See her obituary. Suicide..this classic always makes me wish i would have gotten my courage up
perhaps she would have done it sooner
@Fred Nurke perhaps she would have never entertained those thoughts at all
Memories.........that's all I have to say.
Mary, sometimes that all we have!
And, thank God for that.
Recorded with the Swampers in legendary Muscle Shoals Alabama.
Got to sit in the drummer booth and got chills knowing the amount AMAZING songs were recorded there.
Muscle Shoals has got the Swampers, they've been known to pick a song or 2.
I had the honor of recording there in 1977 with a great band from Mobile. AL called Carnival The Swampers were unbelieveable...great players but more importantly, great people. Humble...
SOMETIMES I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE HOW TIME HAS FLOWN BY SO FAST
