Bob Seger - Hollywood Nights Lyrics
She stood there bright as the sun on that California coast
He was a midwestern boy on his own
She looked at him with those soft eyes, so innocent and blue
He knew right then he was too far from home
He was too far from home
She took his hand and she led him along that golden beach
They watched the waves tumble over the sand
They drove for miles and miles
up those twisting turning roads
Higher and higher and higher they climbed
And those Hollywood nights
In those Hollywood hills
She was looking so right
In her diamonds and frills
In those high rolling hills
Above all the lights
She had all of the skills
He'd headed west 'cause he felt that a change
would do him good
See some old friends, good for the soul
She had been born with a face that would let her get her way
He saw that face and he lost all control
Night after night, day after day, it went on and on
Then came that morning he woke up alone
He spent all night staring down at the lights of LA
Wondering if he could ever go home
And those Hollywood nights
In those Hollywood hills
She was looking so right
It was giving him chills
In those big city nights
In those high rolling hills
With a passion that kills
In those Hollywood nights
In those Hollywood hills
She was looking so right
In her diamonds and frills
All those big city nights
In those high rolling hills
Above all the lights
She had all of the skills

There's nothing wrong with people coming here from GTA 5. It doesn't matter where you found the great music as long as you found the great music. Great song, though, happy my dad showed me awesome music as a kid
According to Seger himself, Billy Payne (of Little Feat) helped out on this song by recording an entire set of drums and then overdubbing another entire set over the first one. When he was done, he asked for a copy of the recording to take home.
The next morning, Seger got a call. It was Payne. Apparently, while Payne had been listening, he looked at the dashboard on his car and only then realized that he had been doing 100mph on the freeway.
i LOVE Seger!! Saw him 3 times Live!! Awesome!!

Honestly if you haven't even heard of Bob Seger before GTA V you must have your ears stuck under a rock or something; please go and listen to some more classic rock...
ItalianStallion76 rock on man, you are fantastic. the world needs more people like. think this is weird giving you all these compliments? you fucking deserve it.
I was 19 in 78 in West Hollywood CA. Spent many Big City Nights in the Hollywood Hills. Classic Bob Seger.
James Avant I remember one night driving up Mulholland Drive, and this song came on the radio!

The ten idiots that didn't like Bob Seager, must be rappers! He's outstanding!

anyone that gives a fuck why people are listening to this song are fucking stupid. Just enjoy the music and shut the fuck up lol
I admit, I came here not because of GTA 5. ...
Song used fantastically in Body Heat with Mickey Rourke.
A Classic ~ Happy Birthday Bob Seger ~
I'll admit, I came here because of GTA 5, although I knew about it before hand, after realizing that that was the only good station in the game, all that music just stuck. However, I dont think its such a bad thing that people are coming here cause of GTA 5. Its getting younger generations into actually good music, which if you ask me is a good thing. I for one think more of this kind of music should be put into video games, then you'll have more people from younger generations (such as myself) listening to good music and not, for lack of a better term, crap.
Channel X has also big punk artits like Black flag and Suicidal Tendencies
CCONX im 14 and i dont like hip-hop 😅😅
Me too. A little different from these people posting " brought me here", I actually look for the soundtrack list to find out who is the artist behind the music I've already heard.
(It wasn't the case of this music though. I've already knew Bob Seger.)
Oh yea ...
Ideal for drivin' an 18-wheeler!
When music was music. A song told a story, not just about bangin hoes or smokin drugs or In The club. This is real
Music and shall forever be superior to the crap they play nowadays. Amazing artist, amazing song, amazing album!!!
Totally Agree I feel sorry for the kids of this generation
I disagree with you because there is even more good music being produced currently than ever, it's just not Top 40 popular. Down tempo, for example, is thriving and tells many stories, and there are hundreds of known bands playing such music, which you may not like because it doesn't resemble traditional rock music. It's just not played on mainstream FM radio. Agreeably, however, most FM radio stations tend to play the same old goofy stuff I think you refer to.
+Matt Hougestol yes and no, if you think they didnt sing about that a long time ago ur wrong.. yes this is real music, but real music is being made today to, look in the right places, same as there was shit made than.
+Matt Hougestol Yessir....Thanks for your words... A greeting from Italy
100% agreed!
I was born 1978 and I love rockin out to this song and most of his music :)
One of the Greatest Albums and Created by easily a top 10 artist of all time, but he is so underrated it breaks my wittle heart
well, gta 5 really has influence on people ...
Such a unique and absolutely awesome voice!!!
Dude, the intro of this song and the intro of the Rainbow Road theme in Mario Kart 64 sound very similar. Listen to both and compare to hear for yourself.
Who else came because of Grand Theft Auto.
jordan45561 me😂😂😂
Me too😅
I've been online posting this song for 20 years dude. I don't care if GTA brought u here...ok?
Tbh I don’t care who or what brought you here, let’s just enjoy this masterpiece, guys 🤠😎
Came out 1979 or something got it the day it came out! Great Album
It has been said that for a while, Bob Seger was confused with singer Bruce Springsteen, because their singing voices are very similar, and both utilized saxophone players in their songs.
I am sorry but in my opinion they sound totally different and Bruce Springsteen is average but Bob Seger is an Absolute Legend!
Springsteen is pretty good, but Seger is better.
Furthermore, Springsteen probably benefited from the confusion. Nothing against him, love his music, but Seger > Springsteen.
@DBMScorchy
You are CORRECT SIR! Both are local boys who made good,Segar from the declining Rust Belt ,Springsteen from the BosWash which contains a reported population of 44 million, or 16% of the population of the United States, and four of the world's fifty largest metropolitan areas,my point being that if EVERY PERSON in Michigan and Ohio bought a Segar 8track and only 30% of the Northeast bought Springsteen he still sells more ...Segar has said the "GIRL" in this song IS Hollywood/LA,and YES it is that intoxicating.
@DBMScorchy Neither is better. Both are truly gifted song writers who's songs have stood the test of time.
@Ben Dover Bob Seger is way better than Bruce Springsteen!
My ultimate FAV LOVE YOU BOB
I'm Here Because It's BOB Fucking SEGER. I'm from michigan, And there are so many people here who loves Seger. He is Underrated
Classic right here!!! who doesn't love this??
Then ur a doucebag tamera
I'm here because of Guitar Hero World Tour
Sorry to hear that man. I hope you're doing better.
This song relates to me perfectly.. she was from California too, I was there from England. Seduced and manipulated me. And one day, shes gone.
Sorry to hear...I can feel you...Same ( not from Cali...From Brazil) happened to me.....A greeting from Italy
Always beautiful.... I can feel ( as an European) some of that true American Spirit in this song.
how did you write this comment 8 months ago???
I would never have thought that one single song and one single comment could completely fix my whole day. The exact same thing happened to me one and a half year ago, and I've been feeling like shit ever since.
Thank you for making me realize that this kind of stuff has been going on since the dawn of time, and that most people get on with their life and some end up making exceptional songs like this :)
Forget turn the page or night moves. This is Bob Seger at his best. The local rock station plays this at about 5:30 on my drive home and it makes my day every time.
The song is about a young man who goes to California because he feels like he needs change in his life. He gets in a relationship with a beautiful woman who seduces and manipulates him. Because he's living in a new town, where he knows essentially no one, he becomes emotionally dependent on her. Then she leaves him.
Its biased because its from his perspective, but I think most people can relate. One person is your whole world, for better or for worse, and overnight they disappear.
Working in a kitchen at age 15 and this song comes on the radio, my first time hearing it. 2am and I'm cleaning the place, dog tired and a mess. Heard the lyrics of this song and was absolutely dumbfounded. What a story!
Decades later, fell for a woman who was the picture of this song. Dumbfounded again!
my favorite Seger song and that's saying something because he had a ton of good ones
I love the energy emanating from it. Thanks.
But this is an awesome song.
I'm here because of GTAV
love the drum beat!
what a great song
