Bob Seger - Highway Child Lyrics
I wasn't born lookin' back, I can't tell white from black
Kesey next to me now darling, straighter than a railroad track
I've been so high, my mind was dry
I rent it out to farmers on the midnight ride
That ain't all
All right
I seen 'em dumpin' garbage, in my rivers and lakes
I seen 'em send up John Sinclair, you know
Two joints is all it takes
Then suddenly I was in a tree
And dogs were barking up at me
can't you see
I'm so damn apethetic, I can't believe I'm free
As the senator he signs the bills you know
Think it's time we got together and declared
When you see them coming and you get so scared
Rain is falling down, but you know I'm feeling fine
I think I'll watch the tv set, let America steal my mind
But you know I'm cool, Momma had a rule
She didn't raise no fool to be true to someone else
I'm runnin' down that highway child
I'm gonna be myself
Highway child
Highway child

Very influenced by the Allman brother's band. Bob was like a sponge absorbing and imitating other acts up until 1973 or so. That's when he developed his own signature sound with back in 72' . That was turning point which led to Silver Bullet.
Gary Graff's book "Travelin' Man" (about Bob Seger) is pretty good. I've never heard this song until now but this is a good song. Cheers!
This is from my favorite Seger album of all time.
2 joints thats all that it takes♪
Pep Perrine bangin the tubs. Seger also played with Teagarden - one of my favorites. Not like anybody gives a shit but there it is.

This song rocks. I love the stripped-down, bonehead drumming with that hi-hat in front of the mix, and that real shit-kickin' guitar groove; it's so nasty. I agree with dude, this version smokes the Stones version. Seger just wears it better. Mongrel is a really tight record in general. This is a standout track for me, as well as Evil Edna. The title track, Mongrel is fantastic too; big explosive drumming, that sick hook, and Seger's weird heavy lyrics –– I love it. Anyway, cool post man, thanks. I'm gonna break this one out for awhile.
Bob can out sing Mick nut!!!
The Rolling Stones version is better
Happy Birthday Bob!!!
Do you have evil Edna from the mongrel album? I can't seem to find it.
Sorry. I wish I did.
Great Song! Thanks
