Bob Seger - Fire Lake Lyrics

Who's gonna ride that chrome three wheeler
Who's gonna make that first mistake
Who wants to wear those gypsy leathers
All the way to Fire Lake
Who wants to break the news about Uncle Joe
You remember Uncle Joe
He was the one afraid to cut the cake
Who wants to tell poor Aunt Sarah
Joe's run off to Fire Lake
Joe's run off to Fire Lake

Who wants to brave those bronze beauties
Lying in the sun
With their long soft hair falling
Flying as they run
Oh they smile so shy
And they flirt so well
And they lay you down so fast
Till you look straight up and say
Oh lord
Am I really here at last

Who wants to play those eights and aces
Who wants a raise
Who needs a stake
Who wants to take that long shot gamble
And head out to Fire Lake
Head out
Who wants to go to Fire Lake
And head out
Who wants to go to Fire Lake
Head out
Out to Fire Lake
Who's gonna do it

One of my favorite songs from Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band! I finally got to see them live in South Florida this year. One of the greatest injustices in my life is not seeing this band live many times before that! Best show I've seen this year, and I've seen many. This band are living legends! Enjoy your retirement Bob Seger, you gave your all at your show, and left me in awe that evening!

  37. James Neumann

I forget how bleak a lot of Bob Seger's work is. Awesome, but bleak.

  38. Judy White

I would love to be on the back of that bike and I wished I was about 30 years younger !!!!

    Jarrod Heglar

When I was 16 years old a buddy of mine asked me if I wanted to hang out with him and go with him to change this old lady's tires on her car. It was on High Rock Lake right below Salisbury NC. The lady turned out to be related to Bob in some way. This was in 1991. He was there visiting her because he had a show in Charlotte that night and one in Greensboro the next night. We changed the tires and got to hang out with him for about five hours. At 16 years old that was probably the greatest day of my life up to that point.
He was so laid back. Just a salt of the earth type guy. We went to the concert with his cousin the next night in Greensboro and had backstage passes. I got to see his whole concert standing about 25 feet away. Hung out with the band afterwards and chowed down on some great steaks in their dressing room. Needless to say as a 16 year old kid I was star struck.

    Frank Steinmetz

Well, come better time than now.

  65. PC Gspot

Chrome 3 wheeler tows the coffin, gypsy leather is a cut, play those 8s and aces means cheating death, the bronze beauties are what we outlaw bikers consider our reward,Bob has always been friends with tons of bikers,he might have said it's about a lake, but maybe he did a little fibbin' there LOL

  66. That's Life

Who's gonna go? The fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and
whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone. That's who.

    Carlos Marcos

    Take a hike mike!

  67. da stacionis

    Bob is the best!

  68. bobby brown

According to Seger the meaning of the song means...who wants to live out on the edge, you don't often see a lake burning, its kinda of a metaphor for living on the edge, he was really into motorcycles..... its a left field lyric...... who want to break the news to uncle joe...... remember uncle joe he was the one afraid to cut the other words ......don't be afraid to experience life, some people just stay home..... go out there and risk things. Apparently the eagles worked hard on the harmonies because they were perfectionist. God Bless Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band...under rated and one of the best live performers of all time. Also one of the best song writers of all time too.
