Bob Seger - Detroit Made Lyrics

I got me a deuce and a quarter, babe
She will ride you right
Pick you up about half past nine
We can ride all night

I came up from the country, baby
City's where I stay
Got me a deuce and a quarter, babe
It's all I got to say

She's a Detroit made
Deuce and a quarter, babe
She's a Detroit made
Deuce and a quarter, babe

Big-block she'll do all the work
So we can ride in style
Leather on those bucket seats
Carpet double pile
Chrome that takes the moonlight on
Sea to shining sea
You can hear those glass pipes rumble to the statue of liberty

She's a Detroit made
Deuce and a quarter, babe
She's a Detroit made
Deuce and a quarter, babe

Now when I first got out of high school
I drove an old farm truck
All the girls they walked right by me
Didn't even say good luck
Now I ride my 225, they all want to be my friend
I'll pick you up later tonight now baby
You can wait till then

She's a Detroit made
Deuce and a quarter, babe
She's a Detroit made
Deuce and a quarter, babe

Just about every cat I know wants him a coupe de ville
I pay half the price and get twice as nice
And they're still trying to pay that bill
Now I can't say everything's okay riding in my car
But I got me a deuce and a quarter baby
She goes like a shooting star

She's a Detroit made
Deuce and a quarter, babe
She's a Detroit made
Deuce and a quarter, babe

  24. C.... S....

Beautifull song , only one man can write a song like this JOHN HIATT . but I like both their way of how they play this song.

    C.... S....

Thanks for the honor to the one who wrote this song. totally agree , both versions are great but John Hiatt gets to little credits for the songs he wrote and performed by others

  25. M.... ....

Very nice version, written by mister John Hiatt :) from the Album Dirty Jeand and mudslide hymns :) Way to go Bob.

  26. S.... G....

"Detroit Made" was written by singer/songwriter, John Hiatt................this one seems to be tailor made for Bob Seger, although. BTW, some great video footage !

  27. C.... L....

Sang by a guy who has a Porsche 911.

  30. A.... S....

Hungry? Out of Work?  Eat your Import!

  31. J.... A....

I'm only 20 and I have to say Bob Seger is by far my number one favorite artist. The first CD I ever owned was by him. The album was "Night Moves". I still have the exact CD from when I was five

    J.... A....

I was there for 'Live Bullet'!
I first met Bob at the "Battle of the Bands" at the old Ford Rotunda.
Of course, before it burned down.

  32. j.... w....

They don't make em like they used to...

  33. M.... ....

If your a car nutt or just a lover but not from Detroit, do yourself a favor and consider coming on up in August for a 3 day event called the 'Woodward Cruise'. When you get here Google 'Woodward street'. Find a pub, party, parking lot or restaurant along the 30 plus miles of an eight lane avenue that starts in Detroit and shoots all the way out to Pontiac. What you'll see will stun you. 100,000 (if not more) Cars!... Cars and more Cars. But not just any cars. C'mon this is Detroit!....There's classic cars, antique cars, muscle cars, sports cars, famous cars, infamous cars, forigen cars, cars you havn't seen in years. And cars you have never seen before. Bikes, Trikes, If its got wheels, more than likely you'll see it drive by. Thats a promise! People come in from all over the country (and Canada) for this one.

  34. L.... K....

To B-104 , shut the hell up about a deuce and a quarter not having bucket seats , I had a dude named Stump install some in mine and I was styling in the D !!!

  35. J.... B....

some things are confusing. if he was driving a bucket seated buick it was actually a wildcat. great car. flint michigan did not , repeat did not built all of the full size buicks during the sixties and seventies. . my point goes like this, WHO F------ CARES? love the scenes love the references especially to pontiac and mercury. bob knows what the shit is , give him credit for his loyalty, .

  36. W.... ....

The BEST thing about the video is how they show both the good & bad, Old and new of Detroit.... they don't shy away from the decay that's gone on there and in fact, embrace it. The last shot of the view through the old broken glass (Packard plant?) looking towards the new downtown is very inspiring. Great song and video

  37. j.... w....

Does he care about Detroit like Smokey does?

  38. B.... B....

Thank Bob for a lifetime of incredible music. From 1968's Rambling Gambling Man to this

  39. A.... B....

    Amazing!

  40. B.... G....

Woodward Ave and the Dream Cruise!! Yeah Baby!!

  41. t.... r....

how many of you guys and gals wouldn't pick any of these cars find the year and transport back to that year

  42. J.... H....

The Deuce and a quarter Buick was ACTUALLY made in Flint, Michigan, NOT Detroit. Bob Seger even admitted that later when he found out. Great song though, I just substitute "Flint Town" for "Detroit" lol

    J.... H....

    Jonathan Hewlett

  43. J.... H....

The Deuce and a quarter Buick was ACTUALLY made in Flint, Michigan, NOT Detroit. Bob Seger even admitted that later when he found out. Great song though, I just substitute "Flint Town" for "Detroit" lol

    J.... H....

    bla, bla, bla :)

    J.... H....

John Hiatt actually wrote the song. Check out his version. It's a little bit bluesier.

  44. D.... D....

Fantastic sound! They just don't make em like this anymore sadly.

  45. D.... P....

    GRANDE BOB !!! MITICO!!!

  46. T.... L....

A Deuce and a Quarter is a Buick Electra 225. I had a 69 convertible. Wow. 455ci that would squawk my tires until the hummed. Whatta ride...and they only showed ONE of them on this video. Sad...but a great song.

    T.... L....

The Buick Electra was made in Flint Mich not Detroit good song thou

    T.... L....

Was about to say Electras were severely lacking in the footage.

    T.... L....

    The '69 had a 430. The 455 came out in 1970.

    T.... L....

Tom Loughlin Jr. my mind went to the 225 slant 6 lol first but that makes way more sense

  47. J.... F....

    hell yeah

  48. B.... H....

Does anyone know where I can learn how to play this?

  49. H.... ....

Woodward Dream Cruise Coming next month!

  50. J.... H....

Not even close to Hiatts original - butchered truth be told

  51. d.... m....

except for the crappy parts the rest is actually the woodward cruise we have it every year and people form all over bring their beautiful cars to cruise woodward, like they used to in the olden days,,..the crappy part is detroit..

  52. G.... C....

Incredible to realise that this man turns seventy years of age this year. Awesome.

  53. R.... ....

    Now that's what I'm talking about :)

  54. N.... ....

    Electra 225 FTW!

  55. 6.... ....

Kick-Ass tune, and I love all the Detroit Heavy metal showcased in the vid! I am dismayed, however, at the lack of Deuce and a Quarter.

  56. R.... R....

This does not nearly have as many views as it deserves.

    R.... R....

at least a million am i rite?

    R.... R....

+Mr.Sickboy You got that right. At 70 years old Ol' Bob can still out rock bands like Rush. I seen both in Lincoln, NE. Bob put on a non stop 2.5 hour show, Rush couldn't do 20 mins without taking a break LOL

    R.... R....

+Mr.Sickboy Most of the time i's like this, listen to the radio.... But this man is still great!!

    R.... R....

    Kerry Mullins

  57. j.... ....

There's not one Buick Electra 225 in this video! WTF?

    j.... ....

Yes there is. A 1966 convertible at 1:46.

  58. E.... ....

Man... his range is waaaaay gone. Too bad. Hopefully it's not self-inflicted a la Joni Mitchell due to chain-smoking.

    E.... ....

snd yet he still sings better than 98% of the acts out there

  59. M.... L....

I just creamed my jeans watching this video!

  60. E.... H....

Too bad Buicks were only made in "Buick City" and never in Detroit. C'mon Bob

  61. D.... S....

Bob Seger, was, and is and shall remain a quintessential rock artist, anyone saying he sounds bad, you need to check your ears, and rock history, lol and while you are at it, perhaps grow a few more years before you try to judge a legend. There are not many things I would not do to be able to share a stage with him. If you cannot handle seger, go be a belieber.

    D.... S....

a journey into rock history, would tell you, he covered this song, and, this is much better than the original version.

    D.... S....

@Dave Smith who said he sounds bad? is that what the people speaking french are saying?

    D.... S....

@dawn-roxanne michelle oh i see 1 troll not worth the time

  62. W.... ....

Bob Seger is a legend and here's more proof...

  63. T.... ....

  64. R.... W....

Maybe I missed it but did anyone see a 225 in the video?

    R.... W....

    There's a '66 convertible at 1:46.

  65. d.... c....

Why is there not a single 225 in the video? Thats a shame.

    d.... c....

    1:46 1966 convertible

  67. 5.... ....

Buick Electra 225's were made in Flint, not Detroit.Close, but no "seger."

  68. M.... V....

Been a "Beach Bum" fan since '65.....was looking for bigger things from this legend.  His duet w/Fogerty on "Who'll Stop The Rain" a couple of years ago was excellent, but this new semi-rocker from his newest CD just doesn't capture the magic of the genius that Seger is far capable of doing.....thanks for the preview tho. Great classic cover photo of U.S.163!

    M.... V....

"semi-rocker"?  Uh, what?  Do you have ears?  This album is CLASSIC SEGER!

  69. H.... &....

Deuce & a quarter:  225 inches from nose to tail.

    R.... ....

RealisticMusicFan. better listen real good then bob is real rock n roll.

    R.... ....

    RealisticMusicFan the best

    R.... ....

For being up there, Bob still sounds fantastic. If you want to hear a voice that hasn't aged well, Meat Loaf is a good example.

  73. 6.... ....

    Rock WILL NEVER DIE !!!
    Give em' HELL Bob !!!

  74. S.... ....

    Lets go Red Wings!

  75. J.... L....

  76. S.... W....

Great Cover of a John Hiatt song! (Dirty Jeans and Mudslide Hymns album) The first time I heard this song.. I thought  Bob Seger had to do a cover version!

  77. J.... s....

I was brought home from the hospital in a Electra 2/25! love the video.

  80. D.... L....

I like John Hiatt's version a hole lot better, sorry Bob...

    D.... L....

Sorry friend but Hiatt's version is a snooze fest. 100%. Plus Bob is a Detroit icon.

  81. e.... t....

Hey! That guy does some pretty good Bob Seger karaoke

  82. G.... S....

its really sad that so many  americans wont even consider an American car even though they build cars as good as any manufacturer today, really strange that buick is the best selling car in china,it would really help America if everyone would buy American from an American company and keep our money here in the good old USA.

    G.... S....

@William Decker Are you seriously asking who Consumer Reports and JD Powers are or is that a joke of some sort? I can understand both sides of this because when I was younger I was a huge buy American proponent and in many ways still would love nothing more than to cruise the open highway in a Cadillac. In fact right now I personally own a Cadillac and a Chevy....both are good cars overall but they certainly have more quirks and issues than Japanese cars I have owned. I fix my own cars so they really don't cost much to keep going but if I was an average American and had to take my car in for every little item both cars would have bankrupt me by now, especially the Chevy. American cars have come a LONG way but they still aren't quite up to where the Japanese cars are. This isn't an individual opinion, American cars overall have terrible resale value when compared to the imports, this is due to the fact that the market (meaning an average of all Americans) has determined that the American car is not as a good a buy down the road with some miles and years under its belt. There is definite value in being able to buy a Toyota with 100k on the clock and know it still has many miles of reliable service left.

    G.... S....

you can get a lemon in anything....Nothing is really built to last unless you invest in it to last...and even then.

    G.... S....

@Robert Johnson American auto companies build just as good as any foreign manufacturer NOW. There was once a time when they didn't. I'm sorry for you that you are trapped in the 70s and 80s. I would never take any review of cars from the Consumer Reports seriously. Let them do toasters and washers.

    G.... S....

@jennadyann walker I'd always wanted a Porsche. When I finally arrived in my life where I could buy one, I did. A Guards Red 944 Turbo. Fast as Hell when it was Right. Sadly, it spent more time in Brumos' service than it did in my garage.

    G.... S....

@Charles Russell Are you retarded? American companies are just now catching up to Japanese automakers. CATCHING UP. Not consistently as good. Not surpassing them. EVER. Just close. It's a fucking disgrace. Look at ANY reliability metrics, whether it be from Consumer Reports or elsewhere. American cars, with a few exceptions are almost ALWAYS near the bottom. And that's just reliability. Forget about how most American cars look and feel like they were designed by a 3rd grader from the 80's. Look at resale value. The reason the resale value of almost every model of Japanese cars is better? They ARE BETTER. And everybody knows it. By the way....The whole idea of American v.s. Japanese etc. is a bit of a misnomer anyway. Most Honda's and many Toyota's are built here. A lot of Ford vehicles are built in Mexico. But believe me, the important decisions for Honda and Toyota are made by the Japanese. That's why they are fantastic.

  83. A.... S....

    Nothing like Detroit Iron

    A.... S....

    A Sam the BEST!n

  84. 1.... ....

    Love it,love it,love it!!!

  85. J.... P....

    TUNE!!! =D \m/
