Bob Dylan - Queen Jane Approximately Lyrics

When your mother sends back all your invitations
And your father to your sister he explains
That you're tired of yourself and all of your creations
Won't you come see me, Queen Jane ?
Won't you come see me, Queen Jane ?

Now when all of the flower ladies want back what they have lent you
And the smell of their roses does not remain
And all of your children start to resent you
Won't you come see me, Queen Jane ?
Won't you come see me, Queen Jane ?

Now when all the clowns that you have commissioned
Have died in battle or in vain
And you're sick of all this repetition
Won't you come see me, Queen Jane ?
Won't you come see me, Queen Jane ?

When all of your advisers heave their plastic
At your feet to convince you of your pain
Trying to prove that your conclusions should be more drastic
Won't you come see me, Queen Jane ?
Won't you come see me, Queen Jane ?

Now when all of the bandits that you turned your other cheek to
All lay down their bandanas and complain
And you want somebody you don't have to speak to
Won't you come see me, Queen Jane ?
Won't you come see me, Queen Jane ?

Is this some sort of joke

    J.... W....

    yes Jeff

  3. R.... M....

one of his so very many best ones, ....so compelling

  4. D.... ....

Trying to prove, your YouTube addiction should be more drastic.

  5. D.... ....

    Phat track.

  6. R.... O....

Listen first to the piano and organ. Then the guitars make sense. Drums back. Vocals.... won't you come see me Queen Jane

  7. F.... D....

Every different day I find out a different Dylan song. It's awesome!

  8. 0.... ....

    QUEEN MARYJANE

  9. j.... ....

hey bob, good hashtags but add #songanddanceman

  10. j.... ....

bob has never sung this song live. wonder why not?

  11. I.... S....

Listening to Bob Dylan's music during the '60s helped me survive the tumultant times.

  12. M.... A....

Queen Jane must be a very lucky girl

  13. J.... W....

    No words

  14. G.... ....

Probably my favorite Dylan song, from my favorite Dylan album. Perfection.

  15. D.... P....

    Perfect harmonica sound

  16. n.... o....

ahh i see why june loves this song

  17. D.... P....

Dunno if this is the best LP ever cut, but I'd hate to debate against the proposition.

  18. C.... J....

I came here listen because of june #ikon

  19. P.... T....

May your upload always be There. (Thank you for sharing.)

  20. F.... E....

Arguably one of the ten best songs ever.

  21. P.... G....

One of the greatest albums of all time - but why are the guitars so out of tune throughout?

  22. P.... P....

A long long time ago 1970 maybe at a party where we only played Dylan me and a young lady named Pamela loved this song. You know it is not a great song but it sure did it for us... Love you Pamela for being there . so now 50 years later what the hell , thank you Bob...

    P.... P....

Wada ya mean it's not a good song

  23. S.... D....

You either get Dylan or you don't. People who don't get it critisize his voice, which is strange for me because nobody sang his songs better than him. Anyone who thinks he's a bad singer doesn't know shit about music and I stand by this statement. Noone ever came close to Dylan, he's one of the greatest poets of the 20th century and easily the best in the music scene.

  24. R.... A....

Love this song. Love you, Bob!

  25. a.... d....

The intro feels like an 80s Japanese pop song

  26. T.... T....

Bob's song to Joan Baez. Right on the money although I adore Joan B.

  27. J.... H....

I wish Dylan still wrote stuff like this. Poets can loose their skill over time or loose the muse.

  28. f.... ....

    Al Kooper never disappoints

  29. W.... L....

I'll be your baby tonight from John Wesley Harding Album is Bob Dylan's greatest song.  Everything he does is bang on !

  30. S.... E....

Oh TWO commercials per dylan tune now ( that’s about ten per side ! ( and we don’t even have to pay for it )!!! And Norm said : OHH GOOGLE!

  31. B.... M....

my guitar is resting in peace
it had given me a lot of grief
    as broken strings surround me
    with the harmonica packed away
    and tunes coming every day
i hit the road once again

  32. B.... M....

    my thoughts remain
    that cannot be tamed
    as i greet every morning
    before me i saw
    an open door
    opportunities surround me

  33. J.... P....

I’m 69 just looking for a taxi back to the sixties

    J.... P....

Used to be one of the top five songs on my playlist. Freaked people out..in 86 not to many people in the west tx bars had a inkling about Robert Zimmerman..

    J.... P....

At least we have the YouTube time machine...

    J.... P....

At least you have a funny age

  34. C.... H....

This is my favorite Dylan song...for today at least.

  35. S.... P....

Dylan once said some interviewer was harassing him about the significance of this album cover to which Dylan responded something like, “idk the dude jus took my picture and i didn’t think anything of it”

    S.... P....

    What vast insight.

    S.... P....

nevertheless, the half obscured motorcycle t shirt promotes inquiry for the hell of it.

  36. A.... F....

Always loved him, always will !

  37. j.... ....

That moment when youth and adulthood begin to dance and youth can see the fatality of "adulthood" but is powerless against its pull, and the one standing outside looking in at the helpless one and almost in futility says If you can get away then here's a refuge ...

    j.... ....

    Great observation

  38. N.... A....

Patiently waiting for all the posers to come when Mr.Dylan die.

    N.... A....

    Nayara Aguiar - ghoul

    N.... A....

If some people don't discover him until he dies that'd be a shame, but at least they'd discover him.

  39. L.... H....

When the world gets to be too much all I have to do is listen to this album and I become the little girl I once was in the 60s.......

  40. .... ....

Why did it take so long? The only song that I had a problem whit on the album, maybe hitting seventy changes perspectives who knows, still yeah getting it later is kind of nice , like it being partaking in a new song after all the years!

  45. K.... B....

Great tune but by god the main electric guitar is painfully out of tune in the recording.

  46. T.... T....

Im so happy Bob Dylan is now on youtube!

    T.... T....

The Chosen People don't like losing out on any shekels.

  47. a.... ....

hearing this reminds me of how perfect mr. Zimmerman portrayed the times an feelings of generations....before we realized ourselves. Mother natures gift to time and societies evolutions, Akashic Aloha, may more people listen , learn and enjoy the natural brilliance. And may you be blessed with good friends, health and longevity bob...and may peace prevail, for all who understand only the truth counts. Aloha and thanks to all who understand we all share this universe with all life, all species, and free will makes the choices we each make, able to contribute to a better universe. my sincere thanks to R. Zimmerman for being so much more then a song and dance man.

    i.... a....

You're right, life sure as hell is strange.

    i.... a....

Yup, written in'65; what understanding of family dynamics, alienation, bitterness-just brilliant. Damn.

    i.... a....

im annonymous my queen Jane walked out in 69 ,hope she had a good life 😔

  54. A.... G....

I first heard this in a record shop. I asked them to play side two of Highway 61 because side 1 started with Rolling Stone which I obviously knew. All I can say is Wow. I bought the LP and discovered other great tracks like Ballad of a Thin Man and Desolation Row.

    A.... G....

Steve Pasquale's comment, two under yours, makes my point of Dylan taking his glasses off and his photographer stops taking photos and Dylan saying go ahead take a photo of me not posing for a photo... This what Steve posted: Dylan once said some interviewer was harassing him about the significance of this album cover to which Dylan responded something like, “idk the dude jus took my picture and i didn’t think anything of it”

  55. m.... n....

hats off to bob for sporting a triumph t - shirt, good lad

  56. S.... T....

One of my three favorites. The other two are Sara and To Ramona.

    S.... T....

This song and album came out in '65!?; and it still hits me just as hard-the truth. "When your sick of all this repetition," and "when the SMELL of the ROSES no longer remains.Brilliant

  57. J.... H....

    The stressful celebrity life.

  58. T.... B....

My friend's great grandmother got Alzheimer's disease and that was part of the reason she decided to leave the Marines and go back home, so she could take care of her great grandmother Janie. Though there was a daughter-in-law who was a nurse who lived right next door, the only thing Janie had been eating was one meal a day that was delivered by the Meals-On-Wheels organization, and she didn't drink enough water on top of slowly wasting away. When I had met her in my high school days she was still fairly with it and even remembered me when there was a photo of my snowboarding on the front of the newspaper, and sent a clipping to my friend in the military. But during those four years when my friend was gone, God started talking to me during that time too, and she really started slipping. My friend and her girlfriend who were studying to be nurses at the time moved in with her and provided her constant care until she passed.

One of the things I will always remember her saying again and again as she looked out the front window- "Where are all those people going?" She never could figure out where all these people had come from who kept driving out the Icicle Canyon and River, and just couldn't come to terms with it in her own mind. They had just put in a big resort just down the road so there was increased traffic from that, but the world had just gotten so much bigger than her small town upbringing. You really couldn't have a conversation with her, and she never could quite understand why her great granddaughter and her friend was staying with her. The very last thing she said to me before she died was, "Do you need a place to stay?" I just smiled and said no. But she was still from that time where strangers helped strangers, and though she couldn't remember who I was- or who her granddaughter and her friend were, would still give me a hand. Back in the day anyone who passed by her house so near the mountains she'd offer lunch to, and often times they might hire a guy who was passing through to do work if they needed a little cash to get by. But as the population increases, people change don't they? Colder to each other we are though need increases every day. And you wonder why there are so many homeless people. Maybe its because there are less people like Janie. Where did all the good people go? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M1Yf2BA4sO0

Anyway if you need a nurse Bob, my friend worked in geriatrics for years and is also an ex-marine who they trained to kill others with some moves that are now illegal. Just saying. You hire her and you also get a built in body guard.

  59. T.... B....

And in some ways this is also like some convoluted game of Family Feud. Top ten says: if we are thinking about Jane's- especially on railroad tracks or around them- we have Janie's got a Gun by Aerosmith. And the Janie I knew in the mountains who was my friend's great grandmother did have a gun. She used it to kill animals for food and for protection. My friend still has her gun. Its an old gun.

The other Janie that would come immediately to mind- especially to us schizophrenics- is Janie the child schizophrenic. You don't think this girl has a gun (metaphorically speaking)? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrXWvrz1-js Along the parallel tracks? See, I think you all think religion and belief about God is just something you want or don't want to do at the time and only for some benefits for you personally. Selfishly. But there are actually negative consequences to ignorance and believing in things that aren't actually there. Like nice Gods who wish the best for little children. God tortured Janie at a very early age. Mercilessly. But that is some Queen of the Damned- that Janie.

See, God is like a father who rapes its children. And then you wonder why people have so many fucking problems. "May God have forgiveness upon your soul" has no meaning here if God is a pedophile fucking children himself. Get that. Bang. You are dead motherfucker standing in the way of mercy for the souls of the damned that God has personally flushed down the toilet!!

Are you going to make her walk further? Can't you see her soles are bleeding, especially since Bob Weir stole her shoes?

  62. T.... B....

But what I really want most in life is a song that says somewhere in it "On the path of the Iguana, I tweaked my lizard". This is a kind of gift giving that most men aren't smart enough to achieve by themselves, but I do think you can live up to the task at hand Bob. Your pen awaits.

  63. S.... S....

I am a woman beating hoe an have scabby cock

  64. G.... ....

oh i never thought about it...the bower is one of my "S&G" favourites. good to know thank you.

    e.... f....

    Born that way...

  69. K.... K....

This is a nightmare version of someone telling someone else that they are about to have a major comeuppance when his/her invitations are going to be returned, when his/her advisers are going to, for the first time, be honest and straightforward with him/her and you wont like what they are saying, when even clowns that you paid for are doing the very opposite of what you expected. The fall is going to be hard, but there is a bit of good news. You can meet me on my level and maybe then we can chat.

    K.... K....

Keith Kinion I always thought this song was about suicide. Bob is singing as death. He’s saying when your life goes to shit come and see me.

  70. D.... N....

The cover photo on this album was always mysterious to me.

    D.... N....

Douglas Norris It's a picture of Bob Dylan.

  76. J.... B....

That awkward moment when your mother sends back all your invitations and your father to your sister he explains that you're tired of yourself and all of your creations. 😬

    J.... B....

Love it. Dylan just opens his songs so...I don't know how to put it. Just wow. Always comes out of left field but somehow hits the nail on the head in an abstract way.

    J.... B....

    @Yorke Head So relatable

    J.... B....

    lololol!

    J.... B....

  77. B.... S....

This was the first song by bob Dylan I was hook be 37 years now. Name my car after this song 1965 fairlane

  79. L.... P....

    Masterpiece. This is just fantastic.

  80. s.... ....

My girlfriend in college couldn't understand my fascination with Dylan. Then she heard this song and fell in love with it. I believe there is a special Dylan song for everyone.

    s.... ....

@Paul Savage I feel for you, buddy. Hang in there. You're not alone, many of the greatest artists at least felt like they were lonely and isolated. Don't worry about bullshit trivial things like your looks. Just focus on methodically improving every aspect of your life and be as true to yourself as possible. Start exercising, eating well, doing what you're passionate about, pursuing hobbies you've always wanted to..etc. and you'll meet someone. Women like guys who show strength and are passionate about things and take care of themselves and have goals. Start getting after it! ;-)

    s.... ....

im annonymous I don’t want to sound basic but mine was like a rolling stone, after I heard it I was hooked

    s.... ....

Mine was Tombstone Blues, mainly because the leads were so weird. Reminded me of a more aggressive Harrison

    s.... ....

My brother used to hate bob dylan, but then I played blowin in the wind for him, and now I think bobs growin on him. My next job is to get my mom hooked.

    s.... ....

@Live Free Or die Good on you for words of encouragement; also like the Dylan song in the background.

  81. J.... K....

    Finally the original version!

    J.... K....

What do you mean by original? Everything in art is copied from somewhere else but "Artists" with their big Egos won't admit this, especially Robert Zimmerman.

    J.... K....

    @Paul Savage booo, disagree respectfully

    J.... K....

    Long live dylan!

    J.... K....

+Jeffrey Karamazov: Ahhh....you too, eh Jeffrey? Yeah, I've been hoping and waiting for a year or so it seems for somebody to upload this original version. Seems like once it does get put out for everybody, it gets taken down pretty quickly. The piano in this knocks my socks off.....it sounds like a real old-timey rag-time / western saloon piano. This kicks ass.....no doubts about it. Thanks to the one who uploaded it!

    J.... K....

Exactly, this is the lpversion, the best

  82. D.... ....

    Por fin suben esta cancion!!!

  83. K.... P....

This is so good, its one of those , I am not doing anything till this song has finished, songs. Everything about this is pure magic, which about covers the whole album.

  86. h.... c....

rhyming plastic and drastic was prophetically insightful

  87. s.... ....

Impossible to choose a favorite Dylan song but this one here for me is mesmerizing 😎

    s.... ....

    Love this one

    s.... ....

“Visions of Johanna” ranks high as well.

  88. N.... S....

best delivery of the word "sick"ever!!!

    N.... S....

Same could be said of the delivery of the word "pain". Do you suppose he had any idea what he was doing at this time?

    N.... S....

@John Lang i don't think any sane man could have. Though we are talking about Bob Dylan.

  89. L.... S....

    perfect summer tune

  90. J.... S....

There’s not a bad Bob Dylan album.
This is one of my favorites.

  91. m.... z....

I always thought this was the most perfect audio recording of all time. Maybe Bob doesn't sing it so much because it sort of promotes adultery.

    m.... z....

I always thought Queen Jane was marijuana

    m.... z....

Yes, I'd like to hear "The Mighty Quinn" from the album version. I had a neat sound, too. Can't seem to get it on your tube. I like the sound.

    m.... z....

@Los Huxleys More likely Joan Baez. Jane Approximately, get it?

  92. w.... ....

    words, music and I'm done

  93. W.... w....

Such a breath of fresh air this song when it comes on.

    W.... w....

GOD personally, not as much as this. No offense.

  94. m.... ....

Does it get any better than this?

    m.... ....

    Basically no

    m.... ....

    No 😉
