Blues Traveler - The Mountains Win Again Lyrics
I pick up my smile put it in my pocket
Hold it for a while try not to have to drop it
Men are not to cry so how am I to stop it
Keep it all inside don't show how much she rocked ya
Ooh you gotta love the pain
Ooh it looks like rain again
Ooh I feel it comin' in
The mountains win again
The mountains win again
Dreams we dreamed at night were never meant to come to life
I can't understand the ease she pulled away her hand
This time in my life I was hurt enough to care
I guess from now on I'll be careful what I share
Ooh can you feel the same
Ooh ya gotta love the pain
Ooh it looks like rain again
Yeah feel it comin' in
The mountains win again
A pocket is no place for a smile anyway
Someday I will find love again will blow my mind
Maybe it will be that love that got away from me
Is there a line to write that could make you cry tonight
Can you feel the same
Yeah ya gotta love the pain
Ooh it looks like rain again
Ooh feel it comin' in
The mountains win again
Ooh the mountains win again

almost 2020 ...this is still one of the best songs ive ever heard
Damn i forgot about this song, loved it back in the 90s
I saw these guys en route to see The Grateful Dead back in '88 in Boner Springs, Kansas. They played at the University in Lawrence, Kansas....they were not famous, at the time, at least in the Midwest, but, WHAT a show!! We were trippin' shrooms on that road trip....Best 'o Times, EVER!!
One of my fave tunes by BT...a very sad happy song.....
👁 El ojo
You'll never forget the pain of loss, it will never go away and sometimes it will catch you unawares after years and cause you to throw yourself at its feet and weep, but the everyday torment will become softer and you will stand tall, deal with it, scarred, but stronger. For everyone who has hurt, in other words, all of us.
Minecon 2019 theme
He who climbeth on the highest mountains, laugheth at all tragic plays and tragic realities.
Friedrich Nietzsche
My British “brother” was staying with me for a month, because he was visiting from England. I live in Southern CA (LA area) and we were driving back from Northern CA after visiting my family in San Francisco. We took a wrong turn after visiting the Monterey Bay Aquarium and ended up having to take the long way home which was the famous 1/Pacific Coast Highway. He drove as I had my hand out the window enjoy the ocean breeze mixed with the smell of pine trees and redwoods. This song played as We drove through the mountains along the ocean and stopped to watch the sunset. This will always be “our song” and our friendship will always be epic.
Magic song.
Me cry!
Nice boobs....
El Paso Mountains yeah
Still listening in 2019
Very cleverly titled. Love didn't move those mountains.
It sure moved them once in my life, which is apparently nearing its end. Oh, well... what can I do? We all have to take that final journey, terrifying as it may be.
But those mountains we moved eventually became an obstacle instead of a sign of triumph. We unknowingly moved those mountains right between us, and now there's a huge chasm where my heart once lived.
quazzie1 I wish you every luck and joy now, pal
First time live was '91. Then the first Horde tour. Then at 328 Performance Hall in Nashville, 3hr set, caught the harmonica, met Gina, and then met Bobby on his birthday. So damn amazing!
I can't believe you guys played this tonight in Columbus. My absolute favorite song from Blues Traveler out of SO many. Thank you beyond words for playing this song live it was priceless, my friends. Your new music was funky, groovy, "new" yet still the classic BT that I've always been kindred with. Your art and expression speaks for many of us who don't seem to have a voice. Keep fucking rocking. See you in Cinci
They cut out a good part of the solos :(

This was the soundtrack to my high school days.
This was the only BT song written entirely by the bassist Bobby Sheehan, who died in 1999. Features Warren Haynes of the then Allman Brothers Band on slide guitar. The two bands toured together. First three BT albums sounded like a young rock band. Four sounded too much like a young band trying to sound like an old band and doing songs about self-destruction. Allman Brothers were better when they were younger too, Brothers and Sisters, although Seven Turns was a song a bit like...
Me thinks of sweet Michelle Cunningham in Denver...wish her well...
This and Bush's Glycerin and Greenday's Good Riddance was my cruch to get over breakups and keep my head up.

Blues Traveler back in 1996.
Real music. Real musicians. I miss this. Thank God for YouTube.
2018 still loving it!!
Another band with a distinct sound that doesn't get enough cred. So love the wonder of this song, thank you John.
I think why people say not enough cred or underrated is because SO MANY GREAT bands and songs came out during this time. It was a magical moment in time for music, like the 60's..to never be again. The Mountains Win Again!!!!!

US 285 north from Alamosa all the way to 25 into Denver dam see you in Morrison this July
I just noticed this that if you close your eyes and really listen, and you didn't know that John Popper sang this that you can very easily mistaken this for a Jack Black song. They sound eerily the same delivery wise
should be a coors commercial
2018 and I still listen
Love this. This band is awesome! Nobody seems to know 'em ...
I had this playing in the background and I swore this was Tenacious D.
Still listening in 2018✌️

Amazing song. But wtf? They cut out a big portion of some sweet harmonica!

love you blue's travelers hope to see you again this year on tour
Blues Traveler's music speaks to my soul. Enough said.
Thank you for listening.
I grew up listening to this band. I went to see them perform in San Francisco and was amazed by how they freestyled their way through the night. Vut the most incredible part was when they left stage. The crowd ROARED for an encore!!! Popper came back on stage and honored the crowd with an encore song. He played Mountains Win Again. My favorite Blues Traveler song. When he was done he bowed and threw his harmonica into the crowd where my girlfriend caught it!!! and she gave it to me. its a prized possession of mine. ill never forget that moment. it was incredible. CHEERS!!!! To Blues Traveler and anyone who ends up here because they need some reassurance. Rock on!
Gentlemanjim 90 you sir are a lucky man
I saw them open up RS's US Bridges to Babylon Tour....THE ENERGY....I still remember it and that was 22 years ago. ♥
