Blue Oyster Cult - I Am The Storm Lyrics

You scorned the love that I gave you
You lied now nothing can save you
Blue skies are turning to grey
I know the games that you play
Winds of rage they start to build
Too much madness will lay you under
The cards you draw don't help at all
Hear the sound of approaching thunder

When you see the clouds blacken
Remember you've been warned
No shelter from my fierce winds
Because, I am the storm

You'll hear my echoes of anger
You'll fear the roar of my thunder
Nightmares, confusion will come true
Aces and eights are the fate that you drew
Lightning bolts become my swords
When I pull them from the sky
Run my gauntlet of slashing rain
You won't survive to testify

When you see the clouds blacken
Remember you've been warned
No shelter from my fierce winds
Because, I am the storm

  7. a.... a....

Very very very underrated and alas never played live by the band.

  8. A.... V....

the Temple of Set worships the Egyptian God Set, Lord of chaos and storms and violence. There is also an I Am Cult. Is this song combining some popular cult doctrines of the time?
I have heard BOC recorded their album with the spaceship and the alsation art in Westchester, NY in a church near where the old Process Church of the Final Judgement stayed in the 70's.

  9. r.... s....

Anybody hear the cowbells in here?

  10. l.... ....

Buck Dharma plays some killer guitar on this song!

  11. J.... ....

    Buck's revenge....remember you've been warned.

    J.... ....

I did nothing I swear it geez

  12. A.... F....

Buck stands with Robert Fripp among guys whose physical appearance gives absolutely no clue about how vicious they can sound on guitar.

  13. r.... s....

    NEVER WANTED TO BE NORMAL*

  14. R.... ....

Nasty, in-your-face little ripper this one. God I love that about it.

This song always did it for me. This has been one of my workout songs since 1979. It still pumps me up as much as it did back then (literally and figuratively).

  21. r.... s....

WHY I LOVE LIGHTNING??? good question?

  23. r.... s....

    RAPPERS THINK THEY BE RHYMIN?

  24. s.... ....

pretty funny how the lyrics are basically just 24 lines of bombastic threats towards someones former lover

    s.... ....

Something that happens everyday - Classic

    s.... ....

Yep, but I could see it applied to any situation of someone who abuses you after you let them into your inner circle and they might possibly have bitten off more than they hoped to chew.... hehehe

  25. A.... ....

    perfection heavyweight music

    A.... ....

Agreed! Never gets old, not even close...

  26. J.... D....

saw B.OC. in Denver at McNichols arena ,I think it was my 3rd concert. My sister fell I'll and passed the tickets on to me and my brother. It was the Black and the Blue tour and Black Sabbath cancelled at the last minute. Blue Oyster Cult played an extra long set to make up for it and I was hooked for life.....amazing.

    Hall of fame forever

    R.... W....

Fame maybe not, but Hall of Quality..

    R.... W....

    Still they aren't inducted :(

    R.... W....

The rock and roll Hall of fame is a worse joke than Bob Hope's jokes!

pulled the curtain aside and he appeared....I'm that kid, alive and well

    S.... t....

don't even realize I'm the kid they're talking about....

been around since 1959.....I'm the kid behind the curtain...

  31. C.... R....

The Buck work throughout this song is just unbelievable. its over 30 years old and still holds its own.

    C.... R....

@industrial strength rock 'n' roll fuck yes I was there

    C.... R....

one of my faves of all time. and I'm fucking old

    C.... R....

you won't survive to testify...when you see the skies blacken, remember you've been warned

    C.... R....

@cawttu what? are you a contrail  idiot? or do you like the song?

    C.... R....

The song as an absolute classic. I cranked is so many times back in the summer of 1980, when I first discovered this classic. That's funny I was just thinking to myself today (since I've been on a Blue oyster cult kick for the past month) that Buck Dharma's fretwork is absolute fire on this album. I list Tyranny and Mutation, Mirrors and Cultosaurus Erectus as my fav BOC albums; while I can find something good on all of their releases. All hail BOC!!!

  32. C.... R....

here I am again.  This song absolutely smokes.

  33. A.... O....

Killer song from a GREAT album!

  34. P.... ....

    Euron Greyjoy would be proud.

    RAPPERS THINK THEY BE RYHMIN?

    i.... ....

Good taste 👌-and thanks for your service!

  36. L.... W....

If you close your eyes, you would swear this was a British Steel-era Judas Priest track. It snuck up on me on my random playlist and I was like 'I haven't heard this Judas Priest song before'. Blue Oyster Cult is a goddamn stealth metal band.

    L.... W....

+L-1011 Widebody I loathe to be that guy to, but you are both wrong, Mirrors was released in 1979 & British Steel was released in 1984 ,, Your history lesson for the day lol rock on

    L.... W....

    Oh my bad sorry

    L.... W....

    L-1011 Widebody Extremely Stealthy.

  37. R.... M....

this was a totally underrated album. however 1st album and secret treatries are in a class by themselves

  38. I.... R....

    buck dharma um fantástico guitarrista

    I.... R....

    +Ivan Rocha
    Got it Ivan!

  39. S.... C....

Saw them in the '70s at the Cow Palace in SF. I believe they did a laser show. Some parts of the 70's I don't remember well...Bahahahaha

    S.... C....

+John Smith LMFAO you remind me of my bro he was born n '56 me in 65 ^5 my friend

    S.... C....

    hahahahaha Steven me too

    S.... C....

Oh they did a laser show alright! It was one of the most awe-inspiring displays I had ever seen and nothing since has come close. The beams of light were further intensified by the thick cloud of pot smoke filling the arena.

    S.... C....

I saw 'em in 78 at a day on the green. Damn, I'm such a teenager!

    S.... C....

Saw them in '79. Rainbow opened for them. First Rainbow album after Dio and BOC put out Mirrors. Fucking awesome show!

  40. m.... ....

they mastered their pop rock heavy sound on agents of fortune and followed it up with the next 4.All cult classics.I grew up with them and this was a favorite party album of ours in 78 and 79.Totally transformed from their first 3 albums. The first album is so dark and my favorite.I just wish it sounded more like this.LOL

  41. C.... R....

Buck top to bottom just kills it on this song.  RIP Alain....

    C.... R....

possibly the best BOC song of all in my opinion. ok ok ....but the guitar on this song is some of Buck's finest

    C.... R....

Christopher, I couldn't agree more about the top to bottom guitar work here.  Not just the blistering solo at the end (which will go on my Buck Dharma's Greatest Solos video when I get around to making it) but the whole thing - the riffing, that sliding sound, the slow part with that glorious, haunting tone from 2:38- 2: 48 - all of it.  It is one of his very best works.

  42. P.... d....

    my fav B O C

  43. C.... R....

    remember ...you've been warned...

    C.... R....

    hahaha yep neither was I....

    C.... R....

    hahaha  no kiddin bro.

    C.... R....

omg, we have an endless love here thru this band..and it seems to work ;)

    C.... R....

saw them in San Jose CA Fri the 13th.  excellent show. check out setlist.com. The Rockbar Theater

  44. C.... R....

this is such a bad ass jam. Buck Dharma, Don shreds the shit out of this

  45. D.... C....

This album was panned by the critics when it came out. It is one of my favorite BOC albums right behind agents of fortune

    D.... C....

Del Clayman I know this is way old...but so is B.O.C. (and me). I knew the guy that did some of their publicity at the time. He said some of the members felt this album was too commercial. It still is great though.

    D.... C....

    Agents of Fortune hmmmm

    D.... C....

No disrespect can t handle any more

  46. B.... I....

    You're not wrong.

  47. B.... I....

    Absolute 100% classic!!

  48. t.... ....

You forgot Astronomy- so did the radio stations!

  49. 1.... ....

I agree, that's why radio is becoming a dead media source to me !

  50. G.... h....

    Amen
thinking the same thing..saw BOC 25 times live in 70' & 80's ...the dam best live band in the world & I'ver seen um all [not OSU marching band either]..sorry..."on your feet or on your knees" live album just iffin rocked.. Buck is such an underated lead guitarist & Joe Bouchard on drums is as good as Keith Moon in his heyday and as good as the kid from Missing Persons[good drummer] & Tommy Lee & the rest.. IMO
and the rest of band all underated as well

  51. R.... ....

I think it's cool how for us hard cores, BOC is personal music, as you say Miles. It is frustrating how overlooked they are, but it seems that those of us who know their catalogue and who have taste, long ago discovered buried treasure and have gotten to keep it all to ourselves.

    R.... ....

RoeserFan - aside from the stacks of great songs and musicianship it's that personal attachment and "getting it" that you feel with this band that you would never replicate with a Kiss, Zep, Sabs etc. There are bands I like (The Doors), bands I respect (Led Zep) but only one band that I absolutely f***king love ..............

  52. R.... ....

This song and this solo just rips. Another stellar vocal by Eric, too.

  53. A.... S....

Have you heard "Stairway to the Stars" from the live-album "A Long Day's Night"? If not.. I recommend you do !

  54. b.... ....

They don't play enough BOC on the radio, guess they are too good for the radio.

  55. .... ....

reaper is a gate way song ;)

  56. .... ....

Whenever BOC plays on the radio, I take it as a good omen.

  57. B.... ....

    Yuck$heMo$h!

  58. T.... T....

Agents of fortune and secret treaties are their best ,imo

  59. S.... ....

I'd be happy if I heard a BÖC song on the radio... their all god, although I don't think the most famous songs are the best (but their great, because it wasn't longa ago I discovered Blue Öyster Cult). At least their most famous songs are better than Avicii!
My favourite song is Stairway to the stars. Pehaps it is good I have never heard it on the radio, because I would sing and dance immiediately in public :)

  60. J.... C....

Fuck Your Dislike BOC RULES! Give IT Buck. Love ya

  61. K.... K....

Me too, Don't Fear the Reaper and Burning for You where the songs that got me too look at other BOC. And they're still my favorite, but a lot of the other stuff, especially the mirrors and fire of unknown origin albums, are pretty good too.

  62. p.... ....

most ppl dont realize, THIS IS REAL MUSIC

  63. 2.... ....

One of the best Dharma solos...

  64. A.... P....

What a classic album !!! hail the BOC!

  65. B.... ....

I really am The Storm.... Youve been warned!

  66. -.... B....

they were too ahead of their time.

    -.... B....

Is it true that your a hermaphrodite

  67. m.... ....

@Bojoe777NaBl At least you hear BOC at radio... Lucky you!

  68. C.... ....

    Fantastic Song

  69. R.... ....

This is the tour I first saw the Oyster boys (79), played the crap out of this casesette, there's a lot going on in this album but mostly irreplacbale ROCK&ROLL!

  70. M.... N....

yer right, although i'm 50 yrs old and i dont ever remember "going thru the motions" being played on the radio.... Reaper, and burning for you are not my fave boc songs, but they are masterpieces along with all of the boc catologue.... the most underrated hard rock band of all time.... but i kinda like it that way, that way, they kinda belong to me personally.....

    M.... N....

Miles, you got it. I've always been torn between the personal ownership and closeness I feel to this band i.e. they are not a Led Zep juggernaut vs another side of me wanting them to be massive and getting the credit they so richly deserve. We all know that no band has a stronger back catalogue than BOC, song after song, year after year .....

    M.... N....

Roger that Steven. It's great to hang with people who get the greatness of BOC on You Tube.

    M.... N....

Miles Needham u said it bro

  71. B.... R....

@grgoldner Character map, in accessories/system tools on the Start Menu button, in Windows or copy/paste to clipboard~ \m/ \m/

  72. b.... ....

Now thats some fucking great guitar playing at 3:06!!!!

  73. L.... ....

@MrLiquidFingers1 I agree 100% best album they did. fuck the critic they know nothing anyway. I hate music critics. Case in point i have seen quite a few top 100 lists of great guitarist. They all omit Ted Nugent. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME!!!. Ok, so you dont like his politics thats ok. But to omit him from the list is a crime or the critics know nothing. TED in IMO is in the top 20 of great guitar players. Stranglehold alone puts him in that category, stormtroopin live is just bad ass Period!

  74. g.... ....

    @MrCamiDrummer
How did you type in the two dots over the O ?

    g.... ....

Option U typed on a Mac creates an "Umlaut."

    g.... ....

In German, the letter following the umlaut can be replicated by "ae." typographically, it is the same thing so spät could be spaet if you wanted to, but in Germany, people often have a typewriter or smart phone with Umlauts (these days, anyway) so, for today more than you probably wanted to know about German typography from alan noblitt in Madison, Wis.

  75. g.... ....

    @Bojoe777NaBl
I would kill to hear Going Thru The Motions on the radio....

  76. d.... ....

@seymouro and very distinctive, you can always recognize buck's guitar and singing style and you can always recognize eric's singing style...

  77. c.... ....

Who would thumb down this? Classic rock!!

  78. M.... ....

one of, if not the most under-rated albums in rock ever overlooked.
i know, for I've been rockn for yrs, seen many, and know great writing.

  79. b.... ....

@seymouro i agree that eric bloom is excellent

  80. 4.... ....

BOC BOC BOC BOC 4 EVER!

  81. D.... F....

Eric Bloom is one of the most powerful vocalists ever.

Donald (Buck Dharma) Roeser kicks it with the all-time lead guitarists.

Six friends and I saw this legendary NYC powerhouse at the now defunct Premier Center in Sterling Heights, MI in the early 90's...a club bar setting. It was, in a word, unforgettable.

  82. k.... ....

    My thought as well Annianna

  83. M.... ....

@Bojoe777NaBl - Where do you live? In Italy 90% do not know precisely who the Blue Öyster Cult. Being a musician I downloaded their entire discography. I have to thank my father made me listen to "Secret Treaties (1974) Original LP 'when I was sixteen.
You are lucky because your radio broadcast still good music!

  84. J.... H....

If I were to compile cool songs about storms, I would include this and "Couldn't Stand the Weather" by Stevie Ray Vaughn.

    J.... H....

Riders on the Storm ... can't get much cooler than Jimbo on that one ...

  85. A.... ....

Whoah. They play "Going Through the Motions" on the radio where you are? You're actually pretty lucky. Around here they rarely even play "Don't Fear the Reaper" anymore, though it was almost all they played for a while.

  86. H.... D....

when you see clouds blacken, remember you've been warned, no shelter from my fierce winds b/c i am the storm!!!

  87. B.... I....

    Classic track!!

  88. n.... ....

I love this song. I hum it almost every time there is a thunderstorm.
