Blue Oyster Cult - Hot Rails To Hell Lyrics
Riding the underground, swimming in sweat
A rumble above and below, hey cop don't you know?
The heat's on alright
The hot summer day didn't quit for the night
1277 express to heaven, rumbles the steel like a dogfight
You caught me in it's spell
Trying to leave but you know darn well
The heat from below can burn your eyes out
Blackened out eyes, scratched on a wall
Stoned out looks from the crowd, the king will not know
On the wall it was said
The flash of his cards was sprayed with red
1277 express to heaven, rumbles the steel like a dogfight
You caught me in it's spell
Trying to leave but you know darn well
The heat from below can burn your eyes out

Intro sounds like Warsaw from Joy Division but more rock and less punky
They had an address in the liner notes where you could send $2 and get the lyrics. They came printed on the wide green-bar computer paper. Somebody had taken the time to type all that into some COBOL Mainframe computer at work, and was making side money selling printouts! Not bad for the early 70's.
I still have my copy or those lyrics! Going to see them in Portland OR Feb 15th - last time I saw them was 1978!
65 still alive , pink flake , china white ?
FUCKIN AWESOME ! Totally Awesome !
Beach Boys surfing to Hell
Fundamental uprooting of the toxic weeds in Intel. Recognize agents who consistently reported accurately when not helpful to their career.
Definitely one of their all time best songs. One of the most underrated bands in rock history
B.O.C. is more than a reflection of an era. It is a phantom asteroid who returns to set his sights on sound art. A decadent wave laden with paradoxes from which obscurantism and the irrational escape, hypnotic factors defying vulnerable souls in search of the absolute. This sound architecture is a short tunnel that leads to light !
Main riff sounds very similar to "Warszaw" (Joy Division). Of course i guess BOC came first.
Now that's what i call an absolute fucking great song !
1277 express to heaven

Your eyes out! Out! Out! Out! Out! Out! Out! Out! Out!...
The Question must have played this and Mistress of the Salmon Salt Nov 2016. I think we all went to bed super-early, but it was good for laughs the day after the election.
We kicked ass in the 70s!!!!!

BOC should've been British, it's not fair
This could have been so heavy.
This song is, without a doubt, one of the greatest ever produced!
These riffs were heavy and so ahead of their time! Reminds me of MC5 at times
I know they used to rock the shit outta the civic arena in Pittsburgh always tried to be there when they hit town.....glad i saw them most of time....boc rocked

Good God, this band is underrated
They're not. You just had to be around in their heyday to know how big they were.
They simply just threw down with this song. It is in your face.
GREAT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)
All I can picture are Maglev-bullet trains.
this rock's..
Damn! It sounds like a 'Stooges' song with that opening riff.
Mike Pastor. K I like Iggy but these guys are a cut above. At least 7 albums with every song great.
“Swerve me? ye cannot swerve me, else ye swerve yourselves! man has ye there. Swerve me? The path to my fixed purpose is laid with iron rails, whereon my soul is grooved to run.”
- Captain Ahab (Moby-Dick)
1st saw em in Clevo. Arrowsmith opened. I was on acid, speed, pot and many beers. One of the best concerts I'v been to.

I love all BOC stuff but those first 4 albums are my favorites. First one I ever bought was Secret Treaties and the rest followed immediately.
The MEATMEN did this live...I saw them a bunch and they would do great covers...This one blew my mind !
I have to totally agree and Tesco definitely crushes a 70's cover song.
If you want to hear Tesco, search White Flag Hot Rails To Hell.... It's on YouTube. You will not be disappointed. Absolutely Crushes.... As stated !!!!!! Wait, not if you want, you are hereby commanded to listen to White Flag. Hot Rails To Hell..... DO IT....... NOW!!!!!!!!!!

Kristin Crumpler I always heard it as "Drug 77 is rescue heaven" ...
Kristin Crumpler I was headbanging whilst reading the lyrics and suddenly the circles of the cd cover starter to spin in a sort of circular motion... optical illusions or too much weed??
😂😂😂
Joe Bouchard said ,if he had known how popular the song was going to be with their fans he’d have put more effort into it....
Andy Fisher rock & roll facts are the best ^_^ Hidden knowledge only those who seek will ever know
Written for a friend of the band who was shot dead whilst pursuing a card debt " The King will not know, on a wall it was said, that the Flash of his cards was sprayed with Red". Also Deadline and more clearly Morning Final are on the same subject.
Best album. Best song. Period. I remember buying it when it released. Changed my music world forever. This song sure as Hell helped.
Their best album, and one of the greatest albums in rock and roll history.
If I were a fuck I'd be all "where can my dumb ass get a worthless logo with a white letter on a colored background like damn everybody else"

The most underrated band in rock.
Them, The Moody Blues, and Ten Years After.
Going to see BOC Oct.11
@wurstgitarre What I find interesting is only 7 of those 24 million were sold in the states.
Yea , and their influence on Thrash metal is maybe STILL not acknowledged . The intro to "hot rails to hell " , , Ten Years or more before it became kinda a standard move .
@John A BÖC forever rules. Always & forever. We all know.
Just can't get enough of this album. Hard to pick a "favorite" from among all of their classic 1972-1981 work, but at least for now, this one is it. I first heard BOC in 1981 but never heard this album until last year. Now I am obsessed......
First time I ever heard this song was in my friend Eddie O's bedroom. 1977 I think. Had volume at 10, we smoked 2 joints. The guitars at the end seared into my brain forever. The best!
Hahahaha yes!
.. Bucks lead solo at the end (after ; 'the people below can burn your eyes out') - was epic !! .. Just otherworldly
I couldn't agree with you more my friend.
you mean the heat from below, not people
Βρώμικο riff!!!
Stinky?
More like dirty....
This was one of the encores at BB King on Friday 6/17. It capped off two great hours. The Bouchards were given generous stage time. Cities on Flame was saved for late with Albert's trademark "Rock! Rock! Rock"! chant pulling people towards the stage yelling their heads off. Buck made sure you got your money's worth. Front and center the whole time, 68 year old Don "Buck Dharma" Roeser still rocks big time all the time. Two hours, I'm right on top of the stage and the man didn't sing or play one sour note. Not one.
Wow sounds like a great show. Sorry I missed it.
midtownmessenger I was there and the encore left me desperate for more.
Fuck yea!
The first 15 seconds give me an eargasm every time. No live version sounds as good as this one.
lol eargasm.
1277 express to heaven.
When you realize how many riffs from this early '70's BOC shit is burned into your deep-memory <3
+Rob Hansult ONLY BAD ASS! For sure my friend:)
Bucks guitar magic has been the sound track to many of my dreams.
No doubt!!!! Amazing.
The albums still rock hard as they did in the 70s. Love them boys.
I think I can say, this is probably the best boc song.
Agreed. But D&S is a very close 2nd.
There is no best BOC song, just many great ones.
Games On Flames I
Best BOC song ever!
Buck's solo toward the end of this song on On Your Feet or on Your Knees is one for the ages, my favorite all-time Buck solo.
Fallen "ride the sky" ;3
Saw em 3 times, remember 2 of them. They say at the one I was on top of my chair screaming 'PLAY HOT RAILS TO HELL!!!'
Stoned out looks from the crowd? Oh yeah.
+Syndicate of Surf Was that you?
That's what the witnesses say. Sometimes I think they make things up. But yeah, probably.
Crazy as a coconut!
Syndicate of Surf no memory of Black and Blue whatsoever. A shame..
This song shuts up my protractors! A hot date with a ? or B.O.C.! HeeeeHeee
+kenton jones Why the hell is there a Dildo in your profile pic?
stoned out looks from the crowd
from people i know
At the a/c works!
I was 12 and a hardcore BOC fan from their debut album, but I was really stoked when this album came from the CBS Record club!
The advent of speed metal, don't try to label BOC with any genre they wouldn't allow it.
I'd never call them a punk rock band but of their ~130 songs you have to admit a few of them ARE punk. And even a few really really good ones too!
@Bank of Debbie-Denise of BOC Eshelman black blade is 2 oyster cult.
@Eric Schmidt when this album came out, there was top 40 pop, soul, rock ,folk ,hard rock and heavy metal,.
I appreciate your love for BOC but the Offspring is not punk. Go listen to the Dead Boys or The Damned and come back...
BOC’s awesomeness exceeds any attempt at labeling or genre!
There is nothing greater than this.
@Ross T Absolutely the best!
Ross T amen.
Heard this today on XM Boneyard..........have not heard this in 35 years.........KICK ASS The Cult lives...................................
Early genius.
That opening riff gets me every time. Friggin' Dharma.
Fifty Feet Tall it's like getting gun shot!
