Blue Oyster Cult - Fireworks Lyrics
She went down to her house by the water
To hide herself from his grasp
He went down to the water to find her
To consummate their love at last
Fireworks shooting off in her head in her head
The earth was shaking earth, shaking, quaking
Fireworks pouring down on her head on her head
Only sound she heard was lovely word
Fireworks like a charm annointed
Blazing red
She went down to escape from her prison
To free herself from her fear
All those years up to here with tradition
Then the lightning flashing lightning, flashing, crashing
Fireworks shooting off in her head in her head
The earth was shaking earth, shaking, quaking
Fireworks pouring down on her head on her head
Only sound she heard was lovely word
Fireworks like a charm annointed
Blazing red
She went down on a snow white pillow
To cast herself in the looking glass
He knew the time had finally come now
To break the spell they shared at last
Then the lightning flashing lightning, flashing, crashing
Fireworks shooting off in her head in her head
The earth was shaking earth, shaking, quaking
Fireworks pouring down on her head on her head
Only sound she heard was lovely word
Fireworks like a charm annointed
The lightning flashing lightning, flashing, crashing
Fireworks shooting off in her head in her head
The earth was shaking earth, shaking, quaking
Fireworks pouring down on her head on her head
Only sound she heard was lovely word
Fireworks like a charm annointed

Think Albert is my favorite B.O.C. vocalist.

Criminally underrated song
Albert Bouchard...Keith Moon's best Friend !!!! 2 Of the Greatest Drummer's EVER !!!!
Heard of/Started listening to BOC in 09, 10 years later I find this song and I still love em
Any band should be proud to have this in their catalogue. BOC - the great American heavy metal band!
BOC plays regularly in my head
Sounds like a old Syd Barrett tune.
Absolutely ..GREAT SONG
no room for chesney on my turntable
my name just scotty everything else is just pre text
IF YOU SAY THAT IT TOOK LSD TO TELL ME THAT GOD WAS HERE WELL I KIND OF ALREADY GOT IT
i only understand Mat if we are talking about siderrial time and the planets i'm not a mathematician
Great tune, but I never liked Albert’s voice. Sounds like he’s got a piece of bread stuck in the back of his throat
Springsteen told Albert he loved this song. I think it inspired The River.
Fukng love it!!
One of those amazing BOC "deeper cuts" that no one knows, but SHOULD! Perfection!!!
This song is about bukkake
The guitar tones in this are just sweet
This song reminds me of a high school girl i was in love with. She was the so beautiful. Ahh the memories
am i in yet/
Can you see any Fireworks yet ???
Who can name the band left to right on the album cover?
Allen, Joe, Buck, Eric & Albert ... :)
Favorite song from spectres
my favorite song
I read that Albert Bouchard said the song was about a girl he knew who never had an orgasm.
i read somewhere it was about suicide ,but think your right
Somehow I would always find my way backstage when they played small clubs under the name Soft White Underbelly' . Drinking Heineken with Buck and tried to negotiate an album cover( as an Artist). He tripped on my work but....
Way Cool,Montgomery!:)
Thanks man-yeah those were the days. Buck was shorter than me but we put our hands together(how do you get all those great RIFFS) and they were the same So we had a Heinekin and called it even
Thanks Bro. I'm drunk so I'm gunnu do it again
Is this song about sex or losing yourself to drugs (specifically cocaine) where "she" is the woman and "he" is the drug? "She went down on a snow white pillow/To cast herself in the looking glass" Cocaine on a mirror... The sex version just seems to obvious and straightforward. Works both ways for me.
Valen, Quote from Albert "That was really about my relationship with this young lady who was particularly reserved. I was always writing songs to her . and it was my attempt to get her to loosen up a bit".
Albert doesn't clarify sex or drugs, I think personally it is about sex, implications away from Albert are more in line with forced sex, love or marriage. Whatever Albert intended I have always loved this compelling track ...
.. The song is so great; I barely pay attention to the words... I need to
Another Deep Cut Masterpiece from these cats!God they've got songs for days like The Beatles&that Buck Dharma is the cleanest lead guitarist this side of Randy California...these guys arle like"upthere"with Love,The Beach Boys*the Doors:)
Love the Spectres album and I love this Albert Bouchard track. Offbeat, catchy and deceptively simple. When Albert sang it was worth the wait!! Buck as ever judges his involvement in a BOC song to perfection. America's finest heavy rock band strike again!
first time i ever heard this song (2017) i love it
Verse has a kind of similiar sound to Matilda Mother by Floyds
alan bouchard and his brother and the old bass player fromalice cooper are still woopin it up as blue coupe
Does anyone know what 60's song the chorus is similar to? It's been driving me nuts for years. Same melody in the chorus, same background vocals and when it ends in the 60's tune, the singer sings "I love you" a capella.
the zombies - i love you.... maybe and The Guess Who - Undone ,,sort of
That sounds like Midnight Confessions by the Grass Roots.
Fireworks pouring down on her head....must have shared a fatty.
Damn!Great music from childhood!
its about consummation &cuming
Exactly!
have listened to three B.O.C songs today (never had really before) and have heard only good, tranquil music, subbed. :)
excellent song as usually for BÖC !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Blue Öyster Cult never ceases to amaze.
Holy shit this song is dope. Lol fuck those ppl who dislike
No that was the second single (I think)
awesome production
This was playing on the radio on the fourth of July, how epic that was.
My fav BOC album, underated song, underated band.
If you are calling them an "under rated" band, then you were not around to experience the BOC phenomena / pandemonium back in the day. I'll forever remember them highlighting the Summerfest Concert at Rich Stadium in Buffalo (1977), for some unknown band calling themselves Lynyrd Skynyrd. Starz also played and Ted Nugent became visibly upset because more people were paying attention to some guy type rope walking across the big electrical wire running width wise over the stadium than were Wango ing and Tango ing with the Ted-ster. Well, like yeah, that guy could fall on me, but Ted, you rule man! Cops were awaiting the type roper at each end of his walk with a pair of hand cuffs, but none of them ventured out onto the wire. Then came Blue Oyster Cult! Wow! What a show!
Yeah, BOC was huge between 1976 and 1981. By the way, the opening melody of this song is "borrowed" from "Matilda Mother" by Pink Floyd.
Well, they're certainly underrated. Bands like The beatles, The doors, the police, Black sabbath, Led zeppelin , Queen etc have their popularity intact till today. BOC? not at all. They should have been as popular as those bands. They got so many classic tunes.
Yes Vic BOC have dozens of great songs .. (more than some of the bands you mentioned actually) but the majority of people just don't get it ...
Bullshit. What the hell does that even mean? Underrated by who and how do you even define that? This is a musicians band and they are world renowned. Probably didn't sell as many as Madonna, but remember I said they are a MUSICIAN's band.
0:48 - "only salchipapas"
"Only sound she heard was", actually.
@Chris Evans Nah, I'm pretty sure is "salchipapas". Albert Bouchard confirmed it on an interview.
HEY who luvs U Old Fart!Searching Fort West End Girls! 352176
One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard. Yet anybody that hears of this album will probably only recognize Godzilla.
Games, for me Godzilla (as nice as it is) isn't one of the main tracks on Spectres. Albert's Death Valley Nights & Fireworks, Buck's I Love the Night & Golden Age and Joe's Nosferatu are all vastly superior. A fabulous album.
Spot On Correct:)
Exactly right, sadly Godzilla, Don't Fear the Reaper and Burning for you, are the only 3 songs top 40 will remember about the Amazing TOTALLY AMAZING Blue Oyster Cult. Don't get me wrong I love those songs too, but they are far from their greatest musical achievements
And The Golden Age of Leather
I first recognized I Love the Night and bought the album for that reason.
I think it's their finest work...luv this album.
Better than Zilla Zilla Zilla...I think for the movement this tune has, it's their best no doubt. BOC loves to mess with us the lyrics are subjective for sure
Buck Dharma is my spirit animal
More great musical diversity from the amazing BOC! A joyous chorus on a dark subject! It seems (& I know we all love to dissect there songs! ) about a girl being sexually abused by a boyfriend or husband & tries to get away from him Contemplates suicide but he beats her to it by killing her! BUT I could be wrong That's how I hear it (By the way FYI this was Bruce Springsteen's (shared their label I think) favorite song on the album! He told Albert it should be the single! But Albert said "Yeah..t's gonna be Godzilla!")
+chris hutt The single was Goin Thru The Motions
Sorry but I think you are totally off the mark
"He went down to the water to find her, to connsumate their love at last"
This song is about an innocent girl and her conflicted feelings of sex and love...she is imprisoned by her fear of getting nakey
She is being pursued and rejecting this dude who totally wants her
When she finally relents (all those years up to here with tradition) and lays down on a snow white pillow, the only thing she experiences is (lovely word) fireworks!
Ummmm, ok ...orgasms
The song is a beautiful story about losing one's virginity and the exploding goodness only BOC could write about
@SirWrecksy I couldn't have explained it better myself
Did Joe sing this? I always have thought that Spectres was their finest album. The production was just perfect.
@***** I wish they had. I have been trying o learn to play Fireworks on guitar, not easy! lol
@Ricky Bobby this is albert on vocals
+TheSongsfromtheattic Yeah, it seems to me they play the most popular (Last Days of May, The Reaper, Cities on Flame, etc) rather than the best. And seldom do they play anything but Godzilla from Spectres, even though there are so many awesome songs on this album.
+TheSongsfromtheattic Celestial The Queen is Joe's song as well. Unfallen Angel off Cultasaurus Erectus is also quite good.
I love you Blue Oyster Cultist
one of the coolest songs ever written.
Great song, sung by the great Albert Bouchard. The band was never the same after Albert and Joe left.
It is a great song - I heard it when I was a teenager back in the 70s. Now I am older and I think I know the meaning of the lyrics. It is a sag song - most BOC songs have sad notes (melody and lyrics) within. She is in fear and in prison. It is about an obsessive and abusive man who killed his woman (to "complete" their love at last and to "break the spell" they share at last). At last she went to a different world - she cast herself in the mirrow.
Best song ever.
Here in Los Angeles. The radio stations only play two songs form them. They have so many great tunes, but those who do not know them, don't know there is more to them, then those tunes. L.A. radio stations are soooo lame. so it is not much better here. I feel ya too tired. take care.
It's about Linda Lovelace in "Deep Throat".
Their scheduled for the free stage at Mn state fair in August!!!
Stupid radio stations here in the Twin Cities ignore B.O.C.'s best work!! Pisses me off to no end!!!
that's whats so great about b.o.c...there songs are so diverse you can interprate however you want..kind of like a book I guess..
no band will ever be like b.o.c....
Wolfpackgaming.. Five years later and still no other band like Blue Oyster Cult .... :)
there was a kind who ruled the land his majesty was in command
In 2002-2006 I was in an ac/dc tribute band & we got to open for BOC 2 times here in WA State. They are the coolest & most professional dudes out there.Very mellow & very ready to make time for their fans.People bug them all night but they smile, joke, rock & just keep on truckin.BOC forever.I so wish I could hang with them again.
right on! subbed
No it's not
Love this song reminds me of my days @ Spalding H.S Class of 1980
I'm not sure myself but it sounds like its about a girl who's constantly pursed by a guy who sexually abuses & rapes her! The "Fireworks" are thoughts of anger & or revenge! As I said I'm not sure. Great song though! Bit of Brian Wilson/Beach Boys feel in chorus! BOC! They do it all!
Chris, Sandy loved The Beach Boys (Brian Wilson) & wanted the band to take on board their harmonies & melodies, Joe was also a fan. Spectres is probably the most influenced BOC album by Wilson & Phil Spector. I have always hoped that Brian has been able to hear it, I think tracks like I Love The Night would make him smile ear to ear ....
Albert said that Springsteen really liked this song.Great tune.Took me awhile to really appreciate how great it is.
ONE OF THEIR BEST ALBUMS, SADLY THAT PEOPLE OFTEN THINK THAT THIS IS THEIR BEST EFFORT.
rap is truly crap, good post
The radio for the most part ignores BOC.
Great song about the mystery that is,...the female orgasm.
David Snow, Angelo Martinez,Levi Campos and David Nelson.Use to play this song and many B.O.C songs. We were a great band at one time. Snow is still a great Musician. I really miss those days and my friends.
firework's shooting off!
The verses of this song sound like Pink Floyd's Matilda Mother.
Reminds me of my time @ Martin Spalding H.S. Class of 1980
I saw B.O.C at Magic Mountain in the early 80s we waited all day in line. It was worth it, The show was So Fucking Awesome. You thought there were 20,000 people at the show it was so laud with every one screaming. B.O.C could not believe the crowds reaction you could see it in them and that really got them going. Ill never forget it. One of the greatest show ever.
Fkn Rad I was like fkn 13 years old n got up in the front row at the MM show!! That was the isH!
Aha Don't fear the reaper backwards remake?! ;) Still cool
i seen BOC at the las vegas convention center in '75 -- wow, just a kid then, the trick lazor beam thing goin on,: thinking about it now just etc. etc.& little river band opening for them *****COOOOL!!
hp lovecraft?... steampunk?.. what up with the lp cover?.. how bout the secret beach boys tribute tucked away in the middle of biker gang fight anthem "Golden Age?" can't believe somebody paid for them to record this stuff but glad they did.
They're coming to my city on new years eve and giving a free concert! I'll be sure to go!
@stickylish I'm glad i found this band. I'm nowhere near the right age for kids yet but I'm sure as hell making them listen to this, and the Fire Of Unknown Origin album, everyday.
There's no categorizing these guys-they just wrote great songs-didn't matter what style. You could never pigeonhole them- Rolling Stone once called them The Fleetwood Mac of Heavy Metal. It's a pretty good assessment.
I wish Albert would try to pull this one off live with Blue Coupe.
Have loved BOC for years. Some people see the word CULT & freak out. They came form OYSTER BAY LONG ISLAND & dont oysters live in a cult ?
Best BOC song ......EVER!!!
@MrAgitator
You may want to listen to the imaginos album. Blue Oyster Cult are Aliens here to guide earth. Or there's wikipedia for a fater answer to the name.
What great backing vocal harmonies!
@ElApocrifita I think it's about a guy and a girl having sex.
I just e-mailed Albert a short time ago and recommended he, Joe and Denny add this tune to their set. Their group is called Blue Coupe. they sound great!
such an awesome song. My friends and i played this in the 80 at sylmar high school . David Snow ' Angelo Martinez ' Levi Campos and me David Nelson. We played a lot of B.O.C. I miss those my Friends.
i keep spitballing here but i think this song is about she's seeing her lover at a secret spot and the husband hides and watches
Excellent song!
@stickylish AMEN BROTHER!
