Blue Oyster Cult - Feel The Thunder Lyrics
Slicing through the night Three riders
Perched on American steel Riders with no name
Time cannot reveal riders with no names
On October 31'st many years ago
For it was a famous party night
And to party was to get high
They loaded up on beer and cocaine
And they started their bikes with a roar
They couldn't have known that on this night
They were beginning their longest tour
[Chorus:]
Feel the thunder of the midnight ride
They're torn asunder by those who died
They're torn asunder by those who died
On to their favorite road they rode
Leather horsemen ridin' three wide
Their metal beasts howled in the night
And dark spectre was their guide
They came around the curve too fast
Only time for a scream
A fiery crash of chrome and steel
Was the beginning of the longest dream
[Chorus:]
As their fates decreed that night
Their souls must be tried
Now you can hear them every Hallows Eve
Forever doomed to ride
Slicing through the night Three riders
Perched on American steel Riders with no name
Time cannot reveal riders with no names
[Chorus:]

Blue Oyster Cult Feel The Thunder Comments
Rockin'
One of their heaviest songs. Sounds like Judas Priest. What an amazing gem and extremely heavy, too!!! 🤘☠💀
I love how BOC fans seem to come up with very tailored threats to people who dislike the songs, Basil Il Macedonia being one. Honestly great job lads
It's easy really .... you just remind them that Blue Oyster Cult are "the Thinking Man's rock band" (always have been) .. eventually it clicks with even the most backward ones .... :))
I bought the irst BOC album the day it was released.
One thing that has always been true in my eyes. You can take any BOC album and make a science fiction movie out of it.
Satanic avf
Should be a Halloween staple----Dig It....
Buck is not just playing noted on his guitar, he's recreating a screeching and fatal motorcycle crash that repeats over and over throughout the song. This is true artistry.

On October 31st many years ago
Three friends went out for a ride
For it was a famous party night
And to party was to get high
They loaded up on beer and cocaine
Then they started their bikes with a roar
They couldn't have known that on that night
They were beginning their longest tour
Feel the thunder
Of the midnight ride
Earth torn asunder
By those who died
Onto their favorite road they rode
Leather horsemen riding three wide
Their metal beasts howled in the night
A dark spectre was their guide
They came around a curve too fast

1977 = Golden Age of Leather
1983 = Feel the Thunder
You're forgetting
1972 = Transmaniacon MC
1973 = 7 Screaming Dizbusters
1975 = Born to Be Wild
1976 = This Ain't the Summer of Love
Are they a Biker band? Oh yeah.
@John Houlgate But Steppenwolf wrote Born to Be Wild earlier, right? Love the BÖC version.
Also you forgot BÖC The Horsemen Arrive (1992)
@Tom29 Yeah, thanks. I know Born To Be Wild is a cover. I had that album by Steppenwolf when I was 10 years old. The fact that they include it in their set lists among others they've written, says yeah, they're a biker band. Playing gigs in biker bars helped them develop roughness in their style.
@John Houlgate Have you heard BÖC - The Horsemen Arrive? It is a rare one. Very heavy. 🤘
@Tom29Yes, I've heard it. Ut's definitely heavy, but I wouldn't consider it a biker song.
Donald roeser, un excelente guitarrista
Damn this song is cool!
Love BOC.
Love the cover art on Revolution By Night! There are some roads in Illinois that have weird street lights just like this.
Man, Illinois roads -- I know exactly what you mean!
BOC masterpiece!
Anybody think this sounds like a Judas Priest song?
I think Judas Preist TRY to sound like this song, but do not sound as good.
Yeah JP are like BOC Light ... the Oyster boys are on another level ...
@Steven Wilkinson Judas Priest and BÖC invented thrash metal -----BOTH of them. Equally good bands.
STAINED CLASS!
This was always my favorite song on the album. Great song!
Buck Dharma weaving a sonic masterpiece from beginning to end!
Intro sounds just like Love & Rockets "The Game".
Always felt that this album is very underrated/ underappreciated for some reason, this is one of several fantastic songs from it.....Shooting Shark, Shadow Of California, etc., etc.....
"Veins" !!!! totally serial killer stuff, and Eric Bloom looks just right for that !
Brings back memories from the 80s & 90s my crazy biker days whiskey "beer & cocaine" women O plenty
If anybody's heard Chastain, doesn't the intro on "Angel of Mercy" sound similar to this?
Metal Forever ...Yeahhhhhh
Some evil ass guitar in the middle there.
This should be played after "Born To Be Wild".
2 people need to feel some thunder, and not in a good way.
electrizante
They loaded their up on beer and cocaine. Great album to go cruising down the road smokin' a doob AT NIGHT!!!!
Should have been the 2nd tune on the album!
Could have saved it...
When the public heard TAKE ME AWAY, they were like "this kicks ass!". Then comes EYES ON FIRE and they were like " This is CRAP!".
That's what killed the album and BOC's popularity..
Great tune...
+ΧΡΗΣΤΟΣ ΚΟΥΛΗΣ It's a great song.
I love eyes on fire, but then there aren't many BOC songs I don't like.
Adam Priest You dislike one songs placement, and conclude it: "killed the album and BOC's popularity." Wow ... you're high-jumping to extremely wild conclusions man.
I couldn't believe how good this album was. These B sides were terrific.
Perhaps you didn't like the order of songs, but Eyes on Fire is not crap.
October 31st
Very cool song, i love that album !
How dare they defile this track wby preceding it with an advert for The Sun, the shittiest, sleaziest, most populist right-wing shittly little escuse for a newspaper in the WORLD.
FUCK YOU, RUPERT MURDOCH, and may striking workers hang you by the heels like Mussolini, you and that Chinese tart of yours!
Chill the fuck out, schizo
Got the feeling they were going back to basics with this one - even the LP cover hearkens back to the "red, black and white" of the first two or three LP sleeves...
Clouds and lighting in the sky also look just like IMAGINOS album cover, which is also black and white!
Good for you, man; I'm 17 and my older brother introduced me to these guys. Makes you wonder what exactly is going through the minds of people who listen to Lady Gaga.
hahahaha. I'll tell you what: NOTHING
@shonenshojo i couldnt say it more accurate myself, and yes..BÖC must be the best band ever if i had to choose! damn i get amazed at myself when listen to them..its hard to even find a so-so song..they are so perfection, everything is in its right place and they give so much in every song, every little tune,hold-up,riff,drumbeat is throwing me around while playing airguitar, drums and singin here
BÖC's version of Ghost Riders in the Sky
@shonenshojo your not alone, i'll be old and ancient in about forty five years, and i wont stop yelling the genius of classic rock. Especially BOC
Masterful composition.
0 dislikes.That seems common on BOC songs.lol
HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!! Make sure to load up on beer and coke...
One of the greatest songs in the history of music ever. Just throwing that out there.
@MidnightRambler73 Judas Priest?
Picked up this record from a carboot sale last weekend for a pound, as far as im concerned thats a steal!
This song is pretty heavy! Such an underrated album, I think the drum sound drove a lot of fans away but this album is just another BOC masterpiece!
BOC is properly called fantasy rock 9/10ths of their songs are a pure fantasy ride.
@eveningtsar Absofuckinglutely! Music is music, no matter which decade it comes from. Couldn't have said it any better myself.
@shonenshojo
Amen brutha! Anyone who thinks music has a best before date clearly knows nothing about music. . .
Sweeeeet.
No, more of a 70's or 80's exploitation film B-movie vibe, almost in the vein of such 'grindhouse' cinema such as 'Werewolves on Wheels'.
That's for sure.
Does have a sort of Judas Priest-ish sound. God, this band is AWESOME.
Priest wish they were this worthy
yeah, if you look at it, thier albums all seem to follow individual themes... this one is very 80's influenced... probably the most of all of them...
Very 80's B-movie feel to this song, but goddamn it they do it so well.
sums up Ghost Rider perfectly.
1whokncallthethunder I recall the old Tom Jones TV show when he covered "Ghost Riders in the Sky." His dancers were mounted on stationary motorcycles, not horses.
"Feel the Thunder, Of the midnight ride!"
Makes me want to ride a motorcycle. I just might!
Cheers for posting this, BOW. Takes me back to my first ever gig in London, UK - a complete classic. So, I went the 2nd night, too!
Shit, this song is just... wow. It's amazing. Blue Oyster Cult is by far the best band ever existed. Yeah, tell me I'm an old fashionated idiot who likes old music, I get to hear that pretty often so I'm pretty used to it by now. I can't help it, I just love old rock music and especially... yeah that's right... BOC!!!
Well said my friend!
If loving BOC is wrong then I don't want to be right ....
That could be possible but i dont think so but many artist write there lyrics whilst listining to other artist so its a possibilty
Yes, this is the typical Eric Bloom song!:)
this is the shit..........
I notice the reference to "leather horsemen" in the lyrics. Given that Metallica cites the BOC as a major influence, I wonder if this is perhaps where the "Horsemen are drawing nearer... on leather steeds they ride." in The Four Horsemen comes from.
