Blue Oyster Cult - Fallen Angel Lyrics

From the dust I rose on high
Thunder cloud in a two-lane sky
From the world I did rebel
A fallen angel

Highway lust was in my blood
No girl could ever take my love
Cold and cruel and then I fell
A fallen angel

A girl so strange I lost my head
Lost it all got left for dead
I curse the day now I'm just a shell
A fallen angel

Gonna rise up from hell
I'm the fallen angel

When the brink of ruin lies
Upon the world angels shall rise
To lead the fallen now remember world
A fallen angel

Gonna rise up from hell
Gonna rise up from hell
Gonna rise up from hell
I'm the fallen angel

my favorite track on this album (although i like them all really)

  28. W.... ....

I can imagine an old roadhog on a Harley riding across the lonely roads of US while listening to this.

  29. W.... ....

The most upbeat song about Satan ever made.

    W.... ....

Wickedashtray yeah, I struggle with my love for this band and my hate for that fallen angel!

    W.... ....

Wickedashtray....not really about the evil devil, more like the girl who broke his heart and how he's gonna blast his way out that hell ln devil fashion

    W.... ....

    Wickedashtray

    W.... ....

Girl breaks heart, devil, time will tell!

    W.... ....

    So funny and true ,lol!!

  30. m.... f....

    Bravissimi

  31. k.... ....

Kryten L, always thought Joe sounded a bit like Daltrey here.

    k.... ....

With a hint of Graham Bonnet of Rainbow and Alcatrazz.

    k.... ....

    Spot on !!!!!!!!!!!!

    k.... ....

He kinda sounds like Roger Taylor (Queen).

    k.... ....

    Ya! Very Who sounding here!

  32. S.... D....

This is Joe Bouchard on lead vocals.

  33. K.... L....

Am I the only one who thinks this could be a track out of Quadrophenia?

    K.... L....

    +Kryten L It does sound Who-esque that's true.

  34. B.... H....

    One of my best!

  35. m.... ....

  37. v.... b....

    great stuff very underrated song

  38. h.... ....

    i'm with you brother

  39. s.... b....

The singer sounds like John Entwistle of Who fame.

  40. W.... ....

Joe Bouchard had one hell of a voice. Also, Dharmas guitar work on this song is some of his best. Wish there was more of it.

  41. M.... J....

Great Album , Great Song , Great Solo , BOC is a Great band of a Generation ;-)

  42. R.... D....

I think Spectres and Cultosaurus Erectus are my favorite Blue Oyster Cult albums

  43. o.... ....

oh man hawkwind is awsome and so is boc i've got shit tons of their records.

    o.... ....

I knew there were Hawkwind fans but I didn't think I'd find one here, rock on🤟

  44. W.... ....

here's a test...a room full of people...you put on any b.o.c song and see if at least one person's heart rate doesn't start rising...

    W.... ....

You're right even if they don't know which song it is.

  45. J.... L....

    awesome stuff there,Hawkwind n BOC

  46. L.... ....

The American version of the British band Hawkwind. Or Vice versa. Hey you cult fans...check out hawkwind.....lots of songs that are similar.

    L.... ....

I've been a fan of Blue Oyster Cult & Hawkwind since 1978 .. I wouldn't say that they are too similar but what they have in common are good songwriting, musicianship, some sci-fi & fantasy themes, humour & creativity. It's certainly easy to like both bands .. & both were very strong up to the early 80's in terms of consistently fine albums.

    L.... ....

Danny's Channel no way! Boc only!

    L.... ....

Another comparison to Hawkwind, I do agree

  47. b.... ....

Yeah Great solo! One of my BOC all time faves. Right up there with the one from "In Thee".

  48. A.... S....

This is quite a nice rock/pop song until the solo then it does because great! They just don't do solos like that any more (and by they I don't mean Blue Öyster Cult but just about anyone!).

  49. D.... ....

    niiiice

  50. d.... ....

144,000 + myriads of angels in heaven. The rest on earth. Those in hell, grave resurrected to live the right way or back to rot to dust, no literal burn.

  51. b.... ....

    Reminds me of 'Paradise Lost.'

  52. N.... ....

bouchard sounds kind of like roger taylor from queen.
    great song

  53. N.... ....

A girl so strange I lost my head
Lost it all got left for dead
I curse the day now I'm just a shell
    A Fallen Angel

  54. E.... ....

This song reminds of The Who. Good one.

  55. p.... ....

    @ZZombyWooff Look it up

  56. D.... ....

@dailygrime1 spend more time not sucking on your moms cuntlips

  57. G.... H....

Song reminds me of late 70's Who

  58. M.... C....

@TheMasterNull No but I'd love to hear BOC cover that!!

  59. g.... ....

What a classic! I heard Joe B had a week in a Iron Lung after recording this. As for the keys and BD's solo, I have just levitated.

  60. p.... ....

Song's good, but am I the only one who was expecting this to be a King Crimson cover?

  61. I.... L....

This has to be one of the most upbeat sounding songs about the man below. By the way I think its Joe Bouchard singing this song. It sounds just like him.

    I.... L....

    Yes, it is Joe singing.

  62. R.... S....

How can anyone not like Bucks guitar on this track! My goodness it is so unique and melodic it really kicks ass!

  63. L.... ....

    @wqq355 The true good news

  64. N.... ....

Ya know, you may be on track here. i never heard Joe sing at such a high range. i figured it was Eric. He sounds really good. those Bouchards pulled off some beauties.

  65. p.... ....

@Nightwing690 It was amazing seeing this band! One thing that blew me was how freaking loud an arena rock concert was. At times I thought the stage was going to collapse. Their musicianship is dead-on live. I recall they did Godzilla in a long mix of stage theatrics along with a spoken word build-up. To a 13 year old all I wanted was to go to more of these concerts. So I did, but nobody was better than these godzillas of rock! Hmm...are they in that stupid hall of fame? Godzilla should wreck it.

  66. N.... ....

Ah, my first BOC albm given to me by my uncle, he said to me, "You want good music, play this, and play it loud!"

  67. L.... ....

    @Drizzlerman It's the opposite.......Hell will be empty

1 Corinthians 15:22 - "As in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive"

Let no man turn that bread to stone

  68. K.... ....

@paulj0557 Was that the Lazarus at Eastland Mall? Lived very near there 1978-80 and recall shopping there for Christmas gifts. It's funny thinking back to the different places you could find record albums being sold.

  69. p.... ....

My very first record I ever bought new at Lazarus in Columbus Ohio when I was 12. My first concert too. It was all down hill from there.LOL

  70. m.... ....

Dude sounds nothing like Bloom! Maybe because this is the most gruff sounding Joe's vocals ever sounded, but no. To me Joe has a very distinct voice and this is it. I think it sounds a little fuller on this one because maybe it double tracked. Probably not the most reliable of sources but Wikipedia has a full list of songs NOT sung by Bloom and this falls under the Joe Bouchard category.

  71. J.... H....

@NYVoice so that's Eric trying to sound like Roger Daltrey? Yeah, I can hear Eric's vibrato in there.

  72. N.... ....

Nah John, it's Eric on the vocals here. Joe had some great moments along the way but his range wasn't as high as Bloom's. His song Morning Final from Agents remains a mystery-a great song that deserved much more radio play.

    N.... ....

Sorry this is 100% a Joe Bouchard lead vocal.
    Sounds nothing like Eric Bloom.

    N.... ....

    Yep,That’s not Eric

  73. D.... H....

@hooglaz Joe also sang Screams (the first album), Hot Rails to Hell (Tyranny and Mutation), Morning Final (Agents of Fortune), Celestial the Queen & Nosferatu (Spectres), Moon Crazy (MIrrors), Light Years of Love (Revolution by Night). I think he might also have sung Vengeance - the Pact (Fire of Unknown Origin) on which he and Albert share the writing credit; and When the War Comes (Club Ninja) where he shares the writing credit with Sandy Pearlman.

  74. J.... H....

I believe Joe Bouchard is the voice on "Hot Rails To Hell." My guess is, it's the same voice that's on this track.

  75. n.... ....

i had the chance to buy this abum once for a pound there was too many of them i resided it nust be crap, one decision i have grown to regret .. that was about 26 yrs ago in a cheap shop.....maybe i was a consumer victim shoulda followed my heart ............bummer

  76. b.... ....

Joe said he was going for Bon Scott but he ended up sounding like Roger Daltry .Strange because the music is pure Who anyway.

  77. d.... ....

Mirrors and Fire Of Unknown Origin are far superior albums - This is the only BOC album with the original members I thought sucked when i first heard it -but due to the fact NOBODY is making good music anymore It's starting to grow on me . I felt guilty for hating this album when it first came out-

  78. C.... ....

Eric Bloom can pull off some serious shit as well. Just listen to the fade-out of Unknown Tongue.

    He's awesome.

  79. G.... C....

@XSxarfaceX Rock'in Roll & Jesus was first rebel of rock, that is mote.

  80. F.... ....

I never really liked this album and Mirrors all that much compared to most of their other albums but this is my ultimate face track from the album.

    GONNA RIDE UP FROM HELL!!!!

  81. D.... ....

The king of Rock's son? I thought he only had a daughter

  82. T.... S....

Sometimes I wonder too. Check out the book of Revelation in the Bible--it makes it clear.

  83. T.... S....

It all depends upon what belief system you subscribe to. What I gave is a biblical perspective.

  84. A.... ....

    That was "Divine Wind."
Besides, I always think of "Divine Wind" as more of a "fuck you, Khomeni" than a legitimate call to arms.

  85. D.... ....

Yeah, but I personally believe Hell is going to be full and Heaven is going to be quite empty.

  86. T.... S....

Satan will be tortured in Hell himself.

  87. T.... S....

What AbbeyRoad means is that Satan is on Earth, influencing men. But Hell is a place of punishment reserved for Satan, his minions and those who reject G-d's Annointed One (Jesus). Check out the end of Revelation in the Bible

  88. D.... ....

So Earth is basically Hell then? I've had that feeling for quite some time. Then if this world; Hell is all we know I think that implies most of us are bound for the actual Hell, however that may be.

  89. s.... ....

That's what I thought too. Fallen Angel meaning he was a member of the Hell's Angels.

  90. D.... ....

The song is actually about bikers and outlaws and one of them falling in love with a captivating woman and reconsidering being an outlaw to gain her love. It's basically a good versus evil and love song.

  91. T.... S....

It could be. It's just that the whole phrase about "met a girl so strange I lost my head lost it all got left for dead" makes it sound ambiguous as if it was about a man who got cheated by a woman and went nuts or something like that...

  92. D.... ....

I suppose It's about Lucifer and how when he rebelled against God he was sent to reside in his own kingdom; Hell.

  93. T.... S....

What do you think this song means?

  94. n.... ....

I always thought the music and the lyrics never matched. I still do. Or don't.... however you wanna look at it.

  95. j.... ....

Funny, the music DOES sound like it could be on a Pepsi commerical...kinda bouncy and fun. But its still great. When this came out I was going through hell with my own fallen angel, so it had a special meaning for me. The guitar solo is beautiful, short and sweet....what a statement. And Buck gets kinda country there at the very end. Hey Merle Haggard, how's about covering this 'un??
