Blue October - The End Lyrics

Here alone, standing barefoot in our lawn,
Worms squeezing their way through my toes
Tonight that's how it goes.
I'm at your window kneeling quiet,
I thought at least I'd maybe try to get your head right your heart right
"Let him go!"

Then through the glass I see your dress fall to the floor as he embraces every inch of you
The woman I adore.
I can't believe the way you're bending
Can't believe this neverending moaning asking him for more
Begging him for more

How far will I go to make it feel right?
"Come home"
I have to fix this on my own
Replace my heart,
Cause I'm convinced mine broke the day I let us end
Replace my heart,
I don't wanna live by coping, I'm done with hoping.....end

I creeped in close enough to see the way he touched her,
From her feet across her knees, inside her sweetest spot
He pleased and pleased her.
I turned around and tried to take control, but no control was capable
It was a centerfold of how less than low can possibly go.

I squeezed the life into my brain
Like pushing knives into a vein
I've gotta get, I said I've gotta get inside
So to the back window I crawl in silent
Standing in the darkness of my living room
This used to be my home

How far will I go to make it feel right?
"Come home"
I'm moving forward to the bedroom door
Replace my heart
Cause I'm convinced mine broke the day I let us end
Replace my heart
I don't wanna live by coping, I'm done with hoping...end

I turn the doorknob with two fingers to be slow enough to sneak into the room among the corner darkness gloom
I had to see this happening.
He pushed himself so deep inside her clapping rang and bounced off every wooden walled room
And that's when all went silent blank except for the color red
As I walked calmly numbing paralyzed beside the bed
I said "I know I'm not allowed to be here. I just had to see how good your new man really fucks you. Cause you both been fucking me."

"So now I planned the last thing you can both do as a pair
I tie both blindfolds tight around your fucking eyes to blind your stare
I don't want to alarm you, but I figured we could end this in what seems easy quick and painless
Man, so I'll get down to business
I choose you first, there's a gun, it's at your head
So laugh at me one more time but keep your face inside the bed
You sit and watch me while I do this shit and learn from what I've said."
I cocked the pistol pulled the trigger, and all I saw was red

How far will I go to make it feel right?
"Come home"
I have to fix this on my own

Then the screaming oh the screaming
It's nice to see you scared
Of such a weak and stupid husband
Who knows you never really cared
I'll leave you with a question that I need to hear from your head
Was all this worth it knowing you have just seconds left to live?

Now think about your answer, as you lay face down on the bed
I cocked the pistol pulled the trigger and all I saw was red
I gently stroke her arm as she lies lifeless on her back
Then placed the barrel in my mouth
All I saw was black.

We all have a dark side of the soul. This song resonates that. Doesn't mean he really would ever do what this song suggests. It is the dark fantasy side of the soul.

Chilling, unnerving, and absolutely brilliant! No one takes their listeners on a journey thru all the levels, emotions, and "feels" like Justin - Purest, deepest, most incredibly open storyteller on the planet.

  22. z.... ....

This is one of the most powerful songs ever made about cheaters.

    z.... ....

is it though? seems to me like its about a divorcee being unable to cope with his ex-wifes new life

    z.... ....

+PRUSER27 it's both. It's a divorce that only happened because of the affair she was having and since they're from Texas by Texas law after a divorce a woman has benefit of the doubt and usually gets the house. So basically the song is about a man who lost his life and love because she cheated and then divorced him and he had to leave because she got the house and he finally snaps.

  23. F.... F....

  25. P.... A....

    This my favorite version

  26. p.... ....

    We've all felt like this.

  27. a.... ....

Ive heard people say he messed up the scenario when he wrote the lyrics, but they are not listening. He actually says "Think about YOUR answer while I"M face down on the bed" ...meaning he got on the bed and he's over her on top of her looking down. Then he says,(after he shoots her... "I gently stroke her arm as she lies lifeless on her back."
I saw some person on here complain that he said she was face down so why is she on her back. LISTEN BETTER PAY ATTENTION

    a.... ....

3/6 vet's will be in the Florida crowd. This is my personal Thailand song.

    a.... ....

I disagree. Here are the relevant lyrics, as the majority of lyrics sites have them posted:

"So I'll get down to business
I choose you first, there's a gun, it's at your head
So laugh at me one more time but keep your face inside the bed"
    ......
"Now think about your answer, laying face down on the bed
I cocked the pistol pulled the trigger and all I saw was red
I gently stroke her arm as she lies lifeless on her back
Then placed the barrel in my mouth, all I saw was black"

I'm pretty sure the narrator isn't on the bed, hovering over his wife. If he was, there would surely be a better way to describe it. "Face down on the bed" doesn't just mean you're facing the bed. It means your face is pressed against the bed. You can't shoot someone from that position. I assume he's standing at the bedside. So either the force of the gunshot rolled her over, or (more likely) he rolled her over himself to take one last look at her after he shot her. Or it could be that the lyrics just don't make complete sense. That wouldn't be unusual for a song. It happens a lot.

By the way, I think the "LISTEN BETTER PAY ATTENTION" was unnecessarily confrontational. Was it not enough to express your thoughts without also yelling at people about how wrong they supposedly were? Especially when it turns out that you were probably the wrong one. ;)

    a.... ....

Actually he says “think about your answer while LAYING face down in the bed”

    a.... ....

I’ll ask him when I go back stage this year!

  28. T.... S....

    Fucking awesome story

  29. h.... ....

    B.... ....

    Super tight!!!! Killer!!!

  31. S.... M....

This song really opens my eyes to humanity

  32. l.... ....

I've seen these live so many times, but there is so much fucking emotion in this video! Fuck yes!

  33. M.... ....

live sounds so good ..... this song was made for fun (from an interview I watched ) this song is just wow. it's like a man screaming he's feeling and no longer cares . maybe this is what women do to men.... we destroy them till they break....

    M.... ....

    Yepppppppers

    M.... ....

No, and I wish you wouldn't think that way. The kind of women who torment men normally select passive guys who will put up with a lot of crap and never lash out. I dated a guy like Justin when I was 16-17 (he was 22-23). He was just batshit crazy. He had a vivid imagination and a very insecure ego that made him paranoid, so he always thought I was cheating on him. He would lose his temper over slights that were too small for anyone else to even notice. He was very violent towards me, so I ended up breaking up with him. A few months after our breakup, he stabbed his roommate to death. So you see, it wasn't me who made him violent, even though I was his favorite target for a couple of years. In any normal story, I would have been the one killed, but somehow I got away from him and he murdered someone else instead of me. Yay for me, right? ;)

Please try to avoid blaming the victim in abusive relationships. It's almost never their fault. The lead singer of Blue October is schizophrenic and probably bipolar too. He has serious mental problems. Most men would never write something this crazy. Someone commented that they'd heard that the band wrote this song as a joke. Yeah, right. What else can you say after you've written and recorded this song? That you were fantasizing about killing your wife and her new lover? No, you can't say that or you'll end up locked away. So you say it was a joke. This song is no joke. It's dead serious. I'm guessing his ex is terrified of him. I hope he's made things right with her.

    M.... ....

It wasn’t for fun, he actually was gonna kill her, he just didn’t. Listen to The Flight
