Blood, Sweat & Tears - Without Her Lyrics

I spend the night in a chair
Thinking' she'll be there
But she never comes
And I wake up and wipe
The sleep from my eyes
And I rise, to spend another day
Without her

It's just no good anymore
When you walk through the door
Of an empty room
You go inside and set a table for one
It's no fun
When you have to spend the day without her

We burst the pretty balloon
Took us to the moon
Such a beautiful thing
But it's ended now and it sounds like a lie
If I said I'd rather die,
Than be without her

Love is a beautiful thing
When it knows how to swing
And it grooves like a clock
But the hands on the clock
Tell the lovers to the part
And it's breakin' my heart
To spend another day without her

I'll spend the night in a chair
Thinking she'll be there
But she'll never come
And I'll wake up and wipe
The sleep from my eyes
And I'll rise and spend the day without her

Can't go on without her
There's no song without her
Can't go on without her.

I love this album. It’s entirely different than the later blasting BST group. This is one of best on albumin. Hard to find this music. I see there are now a couple of groups called BS&T. I hope they are getting sued for stealing the brand. In fact, it should have been done wen the 2nd BST stole the name

That's not Phillip Clayton singing is it?

I  dammed near wore  the  grooves  off  of this  album  when it first came out It wasn't  until  after I  became an adult  and lived a little that  I  finally  began  to  understand  the  meaning  of many  of  these songs Yes  I have spent  a night  in a chair thinking  she'll  be there

  17. p.... ....

sounds like a horrible life without her. I feel you.

To steve coghill-my bad,was randy on trumpet. Ran into him 1 day before he died at CT's funeral in Harlem. Sad situation

  19. m.... c....

The late great Lew Soloff on trumpet

    m.... c....

+mitch cole It's actually Randy Brecker on trumpet. Lew Soloff started on the 2nd album. Both are fabulous players though!

    m.... c....

Steve Coghill , I was about 16 yrs. I dug this album , Lew Soloff was the bomb!

    m.... c....

Steve Coghill , I forgot Randy was on this album.

    m.... c....

I saw a video of Al Kooper fronting a semi BS&T reunion with Randy and Lew playing side by side, One could imagine what it would've sounded like if they were in the same lineup.

  20. M.... f....

I have listened to several renditions of this song and I believe this bossa nova treatment is the best. Nilsson: under appreciated genius.

One of the Greatest albums ever made. Every song is a story beautifully told. Love it!!!

  26. g.... ....

    I love this song :-)

  27. E.... H....

Definitely re-mastered, mixed or whatever.  I love this album but am fairly certain the sound wasn't this clear or separation so vivid.  But then again, it could be too many decades between listens and maybe I'm just remembering the pops and cracks from my vinyl version...

  28. c.... ....

I love how this song is mixed! Drums panned to the right...just right!

    c.... ....

@cnotenesmith One of my all time favorite albums. The LP version I bought was in MONO phonic, I of course had to get the eight track that was in stereo. Mind you this was back when this was a new group. Back then one could save a dollar by buying a mono copy verses a stereo LP album I think the albums back then were $2.89 to $3.89 just about what the minimum wage was? I can't remember exactly... that was 46 years ago lol

    c.... ....

+Craig Nehring It was $1.65 an hour, in New York anyway lol

  29. j.... ....

Best ever BST album, all because of Al Kooper,he produced it, he played and sang solo on it, he arranged it, he wrote and composed songs on it, I Love You More Than You'll Ever Know, I Can't Quit Her. The whole band participated in a masterpiece, under the creative eadership of Kooper.

    j.... ....

Totally agree with you. Al's role in music is so underrated. I have al his albums on CD and after 40+ years still play them often.

    j.... ....

Al Kooper WAS BST.  David Clayton-Thomas was OK in his own right, but can't hold a candle to AK.

  30. M.... B....

    Written by Harry Nilsson!

    M.... B....

Michael Boyce I saw the title and thought “that’s not the Harry Nilsson song is it?!” There’s a really good version of him doing it live somewhere on YouTube.

    M.... B....

But, this is a much better cover of it.

    M.... B....

Did katz play guitar on this

  31. S.... N....

    richman1953...absolutely right! best version

  32. e.... ....

    HARRY NILSSON!

  33. T.... c....

Listen up mu'fukas the original son is by a Spanish artist called "Jose Jose- sin Ella (without her) Thank You !!

    T.... c....

Nilsson wrote it, 1967. Jose' Jose' 1969

  34. B.... ....

alanu...Go to Wikipedia and look up the play list of the first album, without Clayton-Thomas on it, he signed up for the second album. It is a VERY different sound I grant you that. BST covered a lot of tunes later in their career. You can also find the Nilsson orginal on Youtube as well.

  35. a.... ....

A COVER is When you do Someone ELSES Song Yeah i Get It

  36. T.... ....

Sure it is - it was on their first album, pictured above. (It's not hard to look this stuff up, you know.)

  37. a.... ....

Yeah well this is YOU TUBE and you can POST Music Clips of pretty much ANYTHING you want but I submit this is in No way an OFFICIAL BST Recording . There was the David Clayton Era and Before him a Al Kooper Era , On wiki there are virtually 100 Members over the years Harry Nillson Wrote the Lyrics .It May be Some members of BST backing a Harry Nilson Song. Nilson is NEVER mentioned as a BST Member..But I really dont think this is an official bst release..

  38. B.... ....

This was the pre-David Clayton-Thomas era. Harry Nilsson cover.

  39. a.... ....

This ?is Blood sweat and Tears? I think not.

    a.... ....

alanu2hot Yes it was. As a matter of fact, I am old enough to remember reading an article about the band with this particular lineup in a late 1960s jazz magazine. I also recall seeing pictures then, of this particular cover showing founder Al Kooper among the group members. He is the one singing on this track. Ultimately, I purchased the album on vinyl, pretty close to its initial release.

  40. e.... ....

Best BS&T album. Never better when Al Kooper. Remember hearing this in '68 in a friends dorm.

  41. I.... H....

I thought that this was a BW&T original tune. Well, I'll settle on this version.

  42. R.... ....

There is a Spanish version of this song by an artist named Jose Jose by the title "Sin Ella", also very neat!

  43. k.... ....

    @medina2730
You have idea of what you are talking about--Steve katz miike bloom-al--k--steve STILLS??????????????

    where you at????

  44. r.... ....

    THE BEST VERSION ....PERIOD.

  45. F.... ....

    This is the best rendition ever! Harry's version is good too - different strokes for different folks (-;

  46. G.... M....

Randy Brecker, Fred Lipsius, Dick Halligan, Jerry Weiss combined with Steve katz and Al Kooper and Jim Fiedler, took aminstream music to another level. The group lead on to the Brecker Brothers, amguien, and other Jazz groups as well as the production talents of Al Kooper.

  47. d.... B....

Agreed. Henry Nilsson does it 10 times better...

  48. m.... c....

al kooper is one of the best of that era--great writer and musician---a nice jazz touch to this one

  49. s.... ....

    @mobegone
    I do.

  50. m.... ....

One of my favorite albums of all time, PERIOD!

  51. F.... D....

sorry I prefer harry nilssons version!

  52. i.... ....

This version cries for a proper remix!!!

  53. w.... ....

My buds picked on me so hard for loving this song & others by BS&T. Years later, the buds are gone & I'm still groovin'!
