Blood, Sweat & Tears - Blues - Part II Lyrics

Mmm Mmmm
There's been some women in my life, yeah
you could say I've known my share
Some of them cried for me
some of them just didn't care, mmmm
some of them been hard on me
some of them tore me up deep inside
some of them were good to me, mmm
some of them never even tried
But woman, let me tell you
you're ev'ry girl I've ever known
you make me feel so very happy sometimes
and then you make me feel so all alone
and sometimes I reach out for you
yeah, but you just won't take my hand
and sometimes in winter
when I'm lonely tired and cold
you know if feels so good in the middle of the night
just to have your hand to hold
please, why don't you tell me where I stand
yeah, take my hand
don't turn your back on me girl, no
turn around and take a good long look at a man in love
Mmmmmmm, yeah yeah yeah
Turn around right now
take a good look at a man who needs your love, yeah
can you see him baby?
tell me what you see!
I want to know, does he look like your man
And if he does, I want you to tell me one little thing
tell me, whoa
why don't you hold him, love him, kiss him, squeeze him
stand beside him, never let him go, ohhh
God knows you love him

This is not their 1st album their 1st album was father is child to the man with al kooper singing lead vocals

  3. C.... E....

I was looking for this song. My parents bought this album in 1970 when they first got married. They played this album a few times when I was growing up. They also had the 8-track of this album too. They wore the 8-track copy out.

  4. a.... ....

    this song is a masterpiece.

  5. S.... T....

I was originally going to post a profanity laced comment on the crap they call music in 2019 but a DEEP breath caused me to reconsider and I hope all lovers of GREAT music find their way here!

  6. C.... H....

I was born in ‘75 , first time I heard Blood Sweat & Tears was in ‘89 and it still grooves me 2019 !

  7. w.... ....

One note by the great Fred Lipsius at 8:35... possibly the greatest culmination of a built up solo ever on alto. 50 years later, it still thrills me.

  8. P.... G....

Incredible mood jazz music....nice Fender bass solo from Jim Feilder. what more can you say.

  9. d.... ....

This song is just too freakin cool !! "Woman let me tell ya, you're every woman I ever knew"

  10. M.... B....

"You're every girl I've ever known."
    Heavy

  11. A.... V....

I developed my Chops as a 12 year old on this album and played it over and over again until I had all the trumpet solos and lead parts down!! God Bless the Child!!

  12. W.... M....

My music teacher turned me on to this album when I was in the 10th grade. I was blown away. It was one of my first introductions to the Fusion sound. Lov it.

  13. a.... h....

thank you for posting this my friend..it was one of the first four albums i ever owned..
asked for it for christmas 1969 when i was twelve..i still have it.but no way to play it

  14. M.... R....

The way this band had long instrumental sections in some of their songs(in this one the vocals don't kick in until 3/4 of the way through) seemed to be a harbinger of the whole progressive rock era of just a few years later. When this came out most bands were still typically either pure instrumental or song oriented.

  15. R.... K....

you can tell mr thomas has the gospel element to his voice bbk

  16. s.... ....

Fred Lipsius giving an Alto sax clinic starting at 4.35.

    s.... ....

    I dream this ride!

  17. m.... ....

This jam still kicks ass....that's the true mark of a classic.

  18. J.... P....

Easily one of the most brilliant, nerve rattling, emotional sax solos I've ever heard. The great Fed Lipsius. Only the Lord can instill men with this type of talent. You can't buy it and you can't be "trained" into it.

    J.... P....

speak the truth to the people Mr. Penfold so the folks in the back row can hear you my brother.

  19. T.... ....

Also "Time is" by It's a Beautiful Day.

  20. S.... T....

    Nice~~~~

  21. K.... ....

    Fred Lipsius!

    K.... ....

He played notes that can't be written. Fantastic!

  22. G.... C....

Wikipedia says that this has some of Sunshine of Your Love, Spoonful, and Somethin' Going' On in it. I hear the Cream part and the Al Kooper part. I wasn't familiar with Spoonful by Willie Dixon, so I listened to it on youtube, and I didn't recognize it in this song. My favorite part starts ~9 minutes. Is that derived from another song?

    G.... C....

I think from Cream's version of Spoonful.

    G.... C....

@Kai Slemenda Thanks, but that's not it at all. Listen from 9-10 minutes. How could you associate that with Spoonful?

    G.... C....

Ah. I think those three hits before the vocals, C7!---C#7!-D7!—–- are from Somethin' Goin On. The rest is I think just original.

    G.... C....

+Gene Clark The 2-note phrase at 8:40-8:45 is similar to Cream's Spoonful.

    G.... C....

Gene Clark spoonful follows sunshine of your love

  23. D.... H....

    ...perfection..

  24. T.... E....

ty for post.I wore the grooves out of this LP

  25. b.... ....

WoW the part from 7:57 reminds me strongly of Hendrix's 'Machine gun', but this should be the original, since band of gypsys was recorded in 1970. kudos to Blood Sweat & Tears.

    b.... ....

+batkovan_youtube It's "Sunshine Of Your Love"

  26. R.... L....

I was already a jazz fan, this introduced Erik Satie to me and countless others.

  27. J.... S....

Wore a groove in this when I was 10 years old.

    I was weird.

    No apologies for that.

  28. T.... B....

Great musicians making great music. Love the Cream "Spoonful" quote.

    T.... B....

They also fit in a sample of Sunshine Of Your Love....

    T.... B....

    Love it!

  29. T.... ....

I owned this and Chicago Transit Authority which came out around the same time. Chicago were a bit younger and despite the jazz and horns and all seemed to reach out to a younger, hipper audience but I always had a warm place in my heart for this and I bought it when I was 12....

  30. T.... ....

Most popular is not usually best.  This is best.  Check out Chicago "memories of love"

  31. J.... J....

EUREKA!!!

    J.... V....

Oh thank you but that is not me haha, I surely will check it out.

  34. f.... r....

This is what happens when you take a group of classically trained musicians and turn them loose. This was the first album I owned as a young man. I got it as a prize for selling newspaper subscriptions door to door. It was worth it.

    f.... r....

Your correct, check out Led Zeppelin(live at Albert Hall)1970-here at youtube, somewhat classically trained musicians bringing the Gospel of John the Baptist here on earth, Genesis Trespass and Cinema Show,ELP, gotta give it up for youtube....Jesus Bless....

    f.... r....

Much is made about being 'classically trained'; yet, some of the greatest songs ever, were composed by those with no training at all; they learned on their own, because they loved music, and they shared that with the world. Some, rumour has it, couldn't even read or write music. 'Classically trained' = 'snob appeal'; that's all.

    f.... r....

Well if you are going to mention Genesis and ELP you can't leave out King Crimson and Yes.

    f.... r....

@Mike Reiss Jethro Tull, Kansas and Styx...

  35. H.... I....

This is overtime msic of their time anyway..Adore it...

  36. J.... J....

gotta thank Jesus for so much, this song says it all, like Zepp says in `How many more times~ live Albert Hall 1970- kinda makes ya feel somethin- i`m thankin` God for YOUTUBE foralot, for real, can`t say it all.... PLEASE!!!(Clayton Thomas said that) CHECK out Polaris Project period ORGanization..God Bless..Richard Dawkins!!!what are your 5 favorite songs? The Global Community would respect you MORE if ya check out Burt Bacharach! I ain`t lyin` to ya FELLOW HUMAN!!! Be -in? BE- grate ful?

  37. M.... M....

Great job by Bobby Colomby on drums,Fred Lipsius on sax. Great band, great album.

  38. s.... ....

I can't believe there is not a digital full version of this song on YT. We have it here with all the crackles and pops. The others are all the edited versions that leave out all the fine music from the album version. The sax solo is one of the finest ever. Thanks for posting.
