This song makes me very sad when I hear it because I remember my ex and not that I did something unforgivable... I just screwed it up because I wasn't the kind of guy she was looking for. I tried and tried, but I couldn't be what she expected. That's why I identify with that Californication scene when plays this song.

This was our song.... I lost her in 3rd grade because I thought she moved away to another city. I was wrong but didn’t have a clue, I had no social media... and neither did she; we were kids. Time went by though and memories passed until I was 22. I had a house with a friend and he invited her over to bullshit. When I came home and saw her upstairs I was paralyzed. We made eye contact like none other... I can’t describe the connection but it was perfect to me.... she said I looked familiar and I told her “Your name is Katelyn Bowers, I had the biggest crush on you in third grade and I heard you moved to Dallas the next year and it broke my heart.” She blushed and recognized me immediately. My roommate went to the wayside in that very moment and we got together days after. I loved her with everything I had and she loved me. We would sit on our porch for hours on end and listen to this album. She felt everything I sang to her and loved all songs I played for her. We began drinking though... things were great but eventually they crumbled. We fell apart. We had 3 amazing years together and I had to leave her because I thought it would be safe for the both of us and our habits. I miss her dearly... not a day goes by that I don’t think of her. She was my best friend. I hope we meet again in the future because she was the one... she was my real true love. Love, Graham.

When I was a kid my mom would play this for me all the time. Life was so simple back then and even though I didn’t t even really understand the words, this music would make me feel calm. Now when life gets complicated and difficult this song takes me all the way back there. Before school, before grades, before needing money, before struggling to make it into college, before spending every week waiting for a weekend, before making every move in life based on how other would see it. It just takes me back to a time when my only concern was the books that my dad would read to me at bedtime and weather Nemo would find dory this time.

i remember this song used to fill me with so much nostalgia and id cry and my heart would break each time i listened. i steel feel nostalgia from this album and we are the tide, but this song that used to have so much meaning to me just gives me a weird feeling of apathy now. still one of my favorite songs ever for almost four years.

This song has one of the best structures I have ever heard in a song! The way it starts off quiet and simple and gradually builds up in texture but not to the point where it is obvious. The genius use of double tracking is superb. The way it takes so long to reach the chorus and when it finally does it is ever so rewarding!
