this is one of the most powerful songs I've ever heard. Shannon was (still is somewhere) a force of Nature, like a thunderstorm. Too brief, but awe-inspiring and otherworldly in his beauty.

I still get upset to this day when I think about Shannons death he was so friggin talented the perfect front man to an amazing band of free living psychonauts oh what they could have gone on to accomplish had he lived

@paradiselost254 Sure, I learned a lot from drugs too, but there is a far more powerful, long lasting, beautiful, legal, cheaper and healthier way to experience the spiritual side of life, and without the withdrawals or shame that is often associated with drugs.

@paradiselost254 I bought the Bee Girl CD on a whim. I had no idea what was on it. I just liked the cover art. Tones Of Home was the 1st cut I heard. I immediately liked Shannon's attitude. I was dismayed to learn he used drugs. Drugs can give spiritual experiences, but they never last long, and then the drugs give a more powerful reverse experience. Drugs are a trap. The proper way to spiritual enlightment is thru prayer and meditaion. Read A Course In Miracles for that.

@paradiselost254 It was movies like High Noon and TV shows like Bonanza that taught me that a man's worth is based on his character and not his material wealth. Of course, being Gary Cooper or a Cartwright is a lonely road. Most people will sell their soul at bargain prices. Our packed prisons are proof that people believe they can steal happiness.
Shannon didn't send me down the righteous path. He just keeps me company on this lonely road. I enjoy the company immensely.

@larbo1616, It takes a big heart to "hear" Shannon's voice. Those who are touched by his songs tend to live a painful yet beautiful life. Shannon's fans have eyes that see and feel Heaven and hell. They see life as incredibly precious and yet they see it callously and continuously raped. These people are overwhelmed with love and pain. Their eyes and hearts are so wide open for they have not deaden them with anger and judgment. Instead, they have faith in people, love and life. They are saints.

"No one here but these fishes and me." It only begins to touch upon the loneliness we can suffer. But it's not just loneliness....but the injustice, betrayal, abandonment, etc. Sometimes it's just being misunderstood. Like....I'm in the middle of a room full of friends and family, and I feel not one of them truly knows who I am. Nor do they even want to know me. They are happy with their own ideas about me, which have almost nothing to do with me.
It's why I felt so blessed when I rescued that kitten. That kitten loved me from the instant I picked her up. She had not the slightest doubt that I was good. She fell asleep on my lap the first hour we were together. That's the thing no one else will do with me. Even my own mother doubted me. And that's what makes me so lonely. No one knows who I am. Only a kitten knew the real me. And now she's gone too.
