I think he pretty Good! I mean Im gonna always have my fav vocalists, that started over 40 yrs ago as a young child! I loved Elvis, saved my money to buy his records! Totally into Rock guys since like 6yr old I cant help it , I have a Select few Faves and Shannon was one of them! I doubt I change my ways, lol.

This is.... good! i wasn't sure what to expect listening to the new album but they seem to be doing fine without shannon, even though he was amazing

That is true. I admit I was citing extreme examples of hero worship. I really don't worship a band either, but some people never stop yapping about their favorite dead rock star whomever it may be. What most people do is just say "they should change the name of the band to show respect" Well they are really saying "I never made it commercially so why should these guys whose lead singer deserted them have any more success- fuck them, if they are good they will succeed. Oh so that's how it works

They're certainly a great band regardless of whether Shannon walks the Earth or not.

I gave that a thumbs up! I miss Shannon greatly, and while NO ONE will EVER be him again, the band still makes AMAZING music, with only a slightly different flavor (Travis sounds similar to Shannon, but he certainly has his own unique signature vocally.) And while I will ALWAYS miss Shannon, I LOVE Blind Melon, all of it, with either Shannon or Travis at the mic. For My Friends is the most beautiful album made in a LONG time... It's sad I have yet to hear anything about a new album since then...

The music business is a different industry now that the record companies arent scouting and looking to sign anything new.The best music is underground today.Its not a pot of gold anymore unless you wanna sell yourself like Justin Beiber to the kiddies.

Loved FMF musically, the weakest link (IMO) were the lyrics, (though there are some good ones here and there).. My faves are the title track, this track, WTRSOE, Wishing Well, Make a Difference, Harmful Belly and Father Time (Rogers solo gives me goosebumps in Father Time)...

Just like "Private Hell" off of 'Black Gives Way to Blue', I think "So High" off of "For My Friends" captures the vibe of the original lineup best... :)

I hope they record a new album later this year (I know there are some new melon releases in the works as I type this)..

Wow this new guy actually does justice to the blind melon sound...the vocals remind me of Shannon and yet are their own. This new guy can clearly hit the same notes as Shannon, which is a hard thing to do. Good music!

@nashnwo1234 blind melon has that singer because its the closest they've found and they need money. I've heard them live....and havent heard them since. shannon hoon couldnt sound bad if he tried

For My Friends is a good record with a few great songs, IMHO, but a handful of weaker numbers bring the listening experience down a bit. The last minute of this track does build to an exciting, high-pitched climax, which all of Melon's best stuff does. The best tracks on FMF were never released as singles.

I'm sorry I can't do it, it's nothing to me without Shannon............. not every band can do it and they're no exception............. Alice In Chains was able to but that was because Jerry was the musical genius behind them Layne was wonderful with them and they're still not the same without him but they've done better than most...... I just can't listen to Blind Melon without Shannon.

@cmfishburn yeah he failed, big time. thats why he went crawling back and is now singing for blind melon again. he pretended the band kicked him out due to losing his voice from extensive touring..psh like shannon never had voice issues from the same thing, they didnt kick him out. and blind melon took him back because his voice sounds like shannons and he can hit the notes. thats cause the remaining members are trying to cash in on blind melons name, its all empty bullshit at this point. a show

great song,it actually is my favourite one from blind melon although hoon is not in it. travis is doing a great job so stop judging him for keeping the concept of hoon's blind melon by kind of pretending his voice

It's not a bad think that you like this album. We all know that blind melon is not blind melon without shannon, even the other members know it. But don't hate travis for giving a try, i mean some of you are talking about a split out after he got recognition, we don't know him. Give him a try.

I'm at a point where I'm getting tired of the Hoon Heads. I worship a band, not a dead person. Blind Melon is life to those that find it.

@gvoorhis09 I wish I had somebody in my life at three years old who would've been cool enough to take me to see Blind Melon.

People need to stop acting like there weren't four other members of Blind Melon who contributed just as much as Shannon. If they wanted to continue with a new singer, that's their choice and their right. Shannon was incredible, but he did NOT define Blind Melon.

The album was good. Maybe it wasn't as good as "Soup", but with music in general being at an all-time low, we should be happy Blind Melon is doing anything at all.

I love blind melon and I also miss Shannon Hoon (along with Kurt Cobain and Audie Pitre) I know it is not Shannon and you can never replace him but they did what was in their best interest to move forward! The New singer does sound good I must admit. I know to some it is like if Nirvana suddenly came out with Cobain sound-alike. But do not think that they are trying to sellout. They have been looking hard for years for another singer to "replace" Hoon.

It's not as cool and unique as the Shannon era stuff. But it's a good song with great musicianship. I'm glad they're back at it again. I've always loved Blind Melon.

@kimdalim I don't know, have you seen the behind the music documentary on them?? As amazing as he was as a performer and compassionate, intense, everyone, even his sister, said there was too sides to Shannon and the bad side won out in the end. I felt sorry for the rest of the band when they talked about his stints in rehab and how many times he promised them he was going clean and how much it affected them every time he ended up back on the gear.

@PUNKWALIA ronnie james dio was no slouch,so sabbath was still great,just different,i think better with ozzy,but the real screw up of all time,was replacing roth with haggar,they may have had some hits,as sell outs but would never match the raw rock of early original VH.

He was an awesome singer and lyricist, but he didn't even write all the lyrics to the original Blind Melon tracks and wasn 't m uch of a guitarist, that's why they still sound the same. Fuck AC DC did then same after Bon Scott black sabbath did it when ozzy fried hinmself, deep purple have had like 12 different members.
