Blind Guardian - War Of Wrath Lyrics

[Narrator (Sauron):]
The field is lost
Everything is lost
The black one has fallen from the sky and the towers in ruins lie
The enemy is within, everywhere
And with him the light, soon they will be here
Go now, my lord, while there is time
There are places below
[Morgoth:]
And you know them too
I release thee, go
My servant you'll be for all time
[Sauron:]
As you command
My king
[Morgoth:]
I had a part in everything
Twice I destroyed the light and twice I failed
I left ruin behind me when I returned
But I also carried ruin with me
She, the mistress of her own lust

  1. M.... ....

Back in 1998 a friend of mine recorded this album to me in a casette (which I still have today) and discovered me a new musical genre.
By far the metal album ive listened the most over the last 21 years and my BG favourite.

    Sauron):

    (Sauron):

    Come desideri

    Mio re

    (Morgoth):

Ho un ruolo in ogni cosa

due volte ho distrutto la luce e due volte ho fallito

ho lasciato rovina alle mie spalle e quando sono ritornato

ma ho anche portato rovine con me

lei, la padrona della propria lussuria

Just listened this album first time. It's good album, one of those albums that surely grow better more you listen them.

There's just some things I don't get and that irk me a bit: While first half is brilliant up to the end of Fingolfin, then the story seems to get bit out of hand; with events spilled out out of timeline, important, brialliant story getting glossed over or completely forgotten and then it ends the story half-way with nothing resolved... Even the story of the cover story goes by unmentioned in the album.

    V.... S....

The events on the cover take place in part in When Sorrow Sang, or at least the aftermath

  16. T.... M....

listening to this while reading silmarillion was one of the best experiences ever.

    T.... M....

    same ;)

    T.... M....

    Same. Holy fuck!

  17. M.... B....

Twice I destroyed the Light and twice I failed.

    M.... B....

The Two Lamps and The Two Trees.

  18. L.... C....

    Who is she?

    L.... C....

She is Ungoliant, the spyder beast that Morgoth brought to Valinor to destroy the light

    L.... C....

@Lorenzo C.B. I believe Morgoth is referring to the concept of 'Ruin' as a 'She' here.

"I left Ruin behind me when I returned, but I also carried Ruin with me. She, the mistress of her own lust."

The second sentence is technically incomplete. Thus, it should refer to the proper noun from the sentence before, i.e: Ruin.

    L.... C....

    Morgoth is talking about Luthiem

    L.... C....

@George East It's Ungoliant. Ungoliant's "lust" for light made her attack Morgoth for the Silmarils, and she almost killed him. This track is even followed by "Into the Storm" where Ungoliant demands the Silmarils, and "Lammoth" where Morgoth is attacked and scream in agony.

    L.... C....

@JLucasRS Makes Sense. I mean he is literally just referring to Ungoliant as 'Ruin'. Which is a pretty accurate descriptor of her.
Originally, I was trying to use proper English to explain it, hence my previous comment, but I forgot most music doesn't care about proper sentence structure, Hahaha.
Also, it's kind of funny that she would be referred to as the mistress of her own lust, as she eventually ate herself. Though, I suppose that's actually hunger, but it technically counts, as you can lust for food or something.

  19. p.... ....

Is the dialogue made up by the band or is it something Tolkien wrote down somewhere?

    p.... ....

made up by the band...i don't recall that Sauron and Morgoth have this kind of conversation

    p.... ....

Michal Koleno Lol, yeah me neither. Would've been funny though.

    p.... ....

made up, but they borrow figures of speech from here and there to make it sounds more in line with tolkien's prose.
