Black - Ravel In The Rain Lyrics

Now it's complete,
Ravel is in the rain
Standing in my dream street.
I'd like to meet
Ravel in New Orleans,
Hold out my hand to his.
I was warned, now I'm old,
Still searching for what I'm told
Is gone, is God, is not.
Don't try to leave,
I've tried so many times.
The street is named desire.
I was warned, now I'm old
Still searching for what I'm told
Is gone, is God, is not.
I was warned, now I'm old
Still searching for what I'm told
Is gone, is God, is not.

Black Ravel In The Rain Comments
  1. D.... D....

I remember Black was (and still is) one of my very favorite singers, and I was so delighted when I discovered this great tribute song to Ravel, my favorite classic composer... When you listen to this, for instance, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NRTWLQ4nI6Q , you find the same kind of sensibility as Colin Vearncombe

  2. M.... ....

Esta canción transmite nocturnidad, soledad, momentos de reflexión... es una canción mágica. Me gustaría ser Ravel.

This was an excellent song and with that cool jazzy arrangement in parts I thought it was a very refreshing track back then .WELL REFRESHING FOR ME AS I KNEW JACKSHIT ABOUT JAZZ !!
    nice track Colin R I P !!

As all his fans painfully know, Colin was tragically taken from us on 26 January 2016.

But he left a legacy with such a huge back catalogue of great songs, recorded performances & memories; he was a master of the #LoveSong - whether a high energy rouser or the slowest of #ballads; he had his trademark voice - often described as "silky smooth" or #VelvetVoice; and he was such a lovely bloke who never strayed too far from his roots, just his record companies' demands.

Colin never had the wider appreciation & commercial success his talent deserved, but his many dedicated fans know he is a truly great #SingerSongwriter, one of the very best of his (& our) generation.

As an #InMemorian #InMemory tribute, I have been pulling together some of Colin's favourites & the fans' - your - favourites, and posting them via #Twitter using the following hashtags:

#ColinVearncombe (that unusual name he thought was a cross to bear, now an advantage!)
    #Black #JustMakingMemories

It would be great if you shared your very favourite tracks & videos as part of the tribute.

On the #anniversary of his death (26/1/2016) & the anniversary of his beautiful #MemorialService at the #Liverpool Anglican Cathedral (19/2/2016), it would be a fitting tribute for us to share these two videos on your social media:

#BlackIsTheColourOfHope (dedicated to Colin by Chris McDonald & Rod Da Rosa)
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_f0Lv8jmnI4

#WonderfulLife (the song he fell in & out of love with but was proud of at the end)
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TVD9lo2FLLc

As in the song sung so beautifully at Colin's Memorial Service by Chris & Rod:

"I just felt so cheated you were taken too soon...tonight a thousand voices will be crying out for you...because you made Black the colour of hope...you keep playing on for us, so we'll keep playing on for you".
