Black Oak Arkansas - Memories At The Window Lyrics
I went to the window
To look for some memories we had
But it seemed that the window
Had lost all its meaning
That's sad
But things didn't look like before
For the things I used to see
I know I'll see them no more
Some things may seem
So unimportant and small
But to the one's who love them most
Like the trees they are tall
For it was better that I first saw
The things I most wanted in life
Now woman if you want me
Then I'll want you
I'll want you
Woman if you'll have me
Then I'll have you
I'll have you
I went to the window
To look for some memories we had
But it seemed that the window
Had lost all its meaning
That's sad
I gazed through the window
But things didn't look like before
For the things I used to see
I know I'll see them no more

Black Oak Arkansas Memories At The Window Comments
That soft guitar in the background <3
Great album. Primitive and earthy. Just like it should be from rockers from rural Arkansas. This isn't supposed to sound like high-gloss/polished rock music. Thank God. It's back-to-the-land, gritty, growly music! ♣Aces♣
good music
My Dad’s pulled this out got it going on vinyl turned up loud and Spring 2019 is coming woo woo been a long cold winter
Seen them twice first time at Fullerton Junior College back in the late 60s and a second time was that the Rainbow Ballroom in Fresno California they were opening up for Montrose and Slade this was in the seventies there's no doubt about the high-energy the Black Oak Arkansas had in the way they move the crowd
Jim Dandy the first and only real front man in Rock!!!!! Every one after him tried, but couldn't be the same.
listen to this when you workout and smoke weed to have a pleasent time. only positive vibrations
Jim Dandy was the greatest front man of all time!! Everyone that came later took their cues from him.
For you uncle bill. Been 24 years now, forever miss you
Love this album. Miss you uncle bill, soon to be 25 years since the lord called you home thanx for many great memories miss getting high and talking to you😔

HERE IS THE OLD SCHOOL OUTLAW TRASH BHODDISATVA. GOD REINCARNATED AGAIN INTO THE LOWER FORM OF HUMANITY TO TEACH AND HEAL.
All the things I used to see, I know I see them no more
Love BOA
The greatest song ever . period !
As a child growing up in Memphis I loved Deep Purple and the harder stuff but Black Oak Arkansas just was a talent bad with one of the best drummer and bass player. They wrote music that was crazy and beautiful and in my opinion they were the best and earliest Southern group. Also great lyrics a southern man can relate to and some flat out great country music. They had great stories about the southern way of life and everyone thinks of Skynard as the best southern rock band. All I have to say those folks never sat down and listen to BOA.
Kurt Sherrick loved your commentary....well said!
BLACK OAK ARKANSAS was much more earthy than LYNYRD SKYNYRD. Jim Dandy and his washboard! These guys recorded some unique tunes.
Black Oak FOREVER
black oak rocks
These five primates produced nothing but junk, and this is Exhibit A.
just type "Guys I can't get laid" cuz you pretty much said that anyway
I still feel it in my being
This group was great start for modern music to develop. I loved Black Oak when I was younger, my brothers and I bought every album and shared them. At 56 I still love hearing the original before Jim Mangrum started new groups but even like much of the new boa!
FOR MY SWEET SISTER
BOA was incredible in the day. Paved the way for many southern rock bands. Excellent album to own on Vinyl.
Woman Yes I will ,Love you Forever ,My Lover,Fuck CANCER 24 yrs :(**** I barley can Live without you, seems God Nor the Devil don't want Me yet ?????????????? :(*********************************************************************88

Well whoever cranked you should have flushed Ill bet they didnt wipe either No wonder your a jerk
A prime example of the JUNK these 5 primates cranked out.
Fuck you Phil.
Phil Davis it makes your stomach turn you feel me
Philip D
There were seven you idiot. You have no taste and this band was fantastic. They wrote music that was a great. And you should not talk about them. So you don't like them. As we say down south. God bless your heart.
You're a funny little troll, Philip D. This ^IS^ a great song and you know it! Cheers.
Roll down the windows.....step down deep on the gas.....and crank up Black Oak Arkansas in the land of the free. What a good good feeling
been a fan since 74. I was 8
fuck skynard. BOA is THE southern rock band
Anthoney Schwoch Saw both bands many times in the early 70's. BOA defined southern rock and paved the way for the southern rock bands that followed....all paled to the incredible BOA!! The best!!
And here is another fact about "Skinyard". That band does not even own the band's name. Ronnie Van Zant's widow does. That is true fact
Finrod Númenessë Hmm...I wasn't aware of that fact. Thanks for the information!
Anthoney Schwoch right on
Finrod Númenessë they shouldn’t own it—-they suck—-Ronnie was the band—-saw them once after the accident, probably 20 years or so—All they are doing is cashing in on the name his brother or whoever he is, is a joke—They tried writing their own music it sucks lousy country music is better than that album and I can’t even recall the title of it--love Black Oak Arkansas it was in my early teens when I first heard them and they blew me away
What a great, great, album.
I was boa first fan at age 14 and still am.. I'm looking for the early times lp or CD, with out luck yet, "when I'm gone and no one and the sun are my favorite. " Delta water" on the new release. So pretty. Iong live boa! God bless you all ,and many thanks.
Love this tune! Reminds me of friends past..
A truly beautiful song, thank you Harvey.
Great live band. They did 5 encores at the Auditorium Theater in Chicago. It was like 2 concerts for the price of one.

RIP Stanley Knight. You were loved. 2/16/2013
My first concert....with Joe Walsh Barnstorm...1.00 for both......wow.......
One of the best songs that I ever heard. There's so much emotion in his lyric and melody, so much truths.
In 1974 it meant the same to me then as now 2020. Life has change in time but our hearts have not. Bless you for your comment.
i used to kook out the window back in the house i grew up in, listening to this song and the whole album. thinking about those lyrics but not really suspecting that one day i would be missing that window and that time as much as i do today 40 years later... never felt more like singin' the blues :)
yes, that's it exactly: "memories of persons & places (of) long ago and far away." i stand at my window looking out at Tokyo Bay, 40 years past and 7700 miles from where i first heard this song, and the pieces seem to fall into place of why this song made such a strong impression on me. perhaps i had the feeling that in the future those familiar people and slow and easy places of my youth would be very distant memories someday, thank you for your thought and take care. saludos desde Tokio.
thank you for posting this song. i've been waiting for it to show up on youtube for years. it's been decades since i've heard it and it's the one album i can't find where i live now, across a big ocean in a land where people don't speak english. this is the first album from home town boys who made the big time. this song didn't get airplay but it was always my favorite from the album. their other songs are good but don't have the lyrical quality of this un. muchas gracias y saludos desde Tokio.
tom d I'll get you any black oak song ya want. I have everything on vinyl. I don't want money for it either.
its on amazon.
Brings back memories of persons & places that are long ago and far away. Thanks for posting.
