Black Crowes, The - Could I've Been So Blind Lyrics

How could I've been so blind
So empty that I've never felt warm
Can I spell it out
Turn myself out of my home
Lookin' like a fool
Feelin' even worse than it seems
Tryin' hard as nails
Believin' only in myself

And now it looks like innocence is gone
I know right and I know what's wrong
Feeling lonely that's the way it goes
Sometimes

But my greatest fear
Paint a smile from ear to ear
Alone and cryin'
Living like this is no better than dying

I tell you baby things are gonna' change
Looking like we were caught out in the rain
Feeling lonely
That's the way it goes
Sometimes

[Chorus:]

Could I ever have been so blind
Could I ever have been so blind
Could I ever have been so blind
Could I ever have been so blind

Solo
Could I ever have been so blind
Could I ever have been so blind

Hardest thing I ever had to do
Was stand up straight and tell it all to you
Look you right in the eye
Tell you baby sorry but I have lied

And now it looks like innocence is gone
I know right and I know what's wrong
Feeling lonely that's the way it goes
Sometimes

[Repeat Chorus 4 times]

    Lyrics

    How could I've
    Been so blind?
    So empty that I've
    Never felt warm
    Can I spell it out?
    Turn myself out
    Of my home
    Looking like a fool
    Feeling even worse
    Than it seems
    Trying hard as nails
    Believing only in myself

    And now it looks
    Like innocence is gone
    I know right and
    I know what's wrong
    Feeling lonely that's
    The way it goes
    Sometimes

    But my greatest fear
    Paint a smile from
    Ear to ear
    Alone and crying
    Babe living like this is
    No better than dying

    I tell you baby things
    Are gonna change
    Looking like we were
    Caught out in the rain
    Feeling lonely that's
    The way it goes
    Sometimes

Could I ever have been so blind?
Could I ever have been so blind?
Could I ever have been so blind?
Could I ever have been so blind?

Could I ever have been so blind?
    Eh
Could I ever have been so blind?

    Hardest thing I
    Ever had to do
    Was stand up straight and
    Tell it all to you
Look you right in the eye
    Tell you baby,
    Sorry but I have lied

    And now it looks
    Like innocence is gone
    I know right and
    I know what's wrong
    Feeling lonely that's
    The way it goes
    Sometimes

    Oh
Could I ever have been so blind?
    Yes,
Could I ever have been so blind?
    Oh
Could I ever have been so blind?
    Yes,
Could I ever have been so blind?

  8. C.... L....

Love it! Even if there is a little 'Brown Sugar' in it...

  9. T.... R....

`Old school hippie feel... Love the vibe...

  10. s.... ....

Helluva a debut album.... one of only a handful of 90's bands that embodied the essence of Rock and Roll. Raw dirty and wild.

  11. D.... ....

This brings me back. This song just has a good feeling to it. I can't explain it, perhaps it's nostalgia. This entire album recalls some of the happiest moments of my addictions.

What I've always loved about the Crowes is that they sing about reality, real life; love, loss, depressions, etc., etc. They are the last true R&R band from America. And I just love it that they are from the South as am I. We may have lost the Civil War but we won the battle in music for R&R supremacy and no I'm not a racist or a white nationalist; just a proud Southerner whose family goes back generations.

    D.... N....

This Yankee Girl agrees with ya 100% on all counts!

  13. D.... N....

God, I get so pissed at bands of my young adulthood, not to mention my youth in the 70s being called "classic." You know I never hear the Crowes on classic stations. They only play 60s and 70s music usually. Why can't we just say this is some of the best music in the past 50 years.

    D.... N....

    No doubt brother

  14. M.... S....

I'm 55 years old and remember the day when "shake your money maker" came out when I was in my early 30' and thinking that this is what true rock n roll should sound like

    M.... S....

Same here brother I'm from Winnipeg Manitoba seen them at the zoo....fucking awesome band!¡

    M.... S....

  40. K.... K....

The whole album is genius followed by two more albums of pure genius..followed by more genius and more genius to follow...

If you are person who digs the Crowes just because of Hard To Handle and She Talks To Angels, I get it..They are great songs..but what most people do not realize is that the Crowes have a VERY extensive library of originals and covers that simply blow their radio hits out of the water..I highly recommend you take a listen..

  41. J.... L....

Not one dislike. Proof that 90's music and more importantly this band is just incredible.

  42. l.... ....

How "Could It Been So Nice?" The Black Crowes sounds really good.

  52. G.... ....

The Crowes are the most consistent ,proper, true rock and roll band in the world and they never, ever let me down.Have followed them throughout their career and am hoping for a European/UK Cabin tour.
May Heckle n Jeckle crow for a long, long time to come.

  53. G.... W....

such a heavy riff, and yet such a bluesy feel to the whole tune, black crowes always run shit tight

  54. F.... ....

I used to listen to this all the time. Every day. I just re-discovered it. Got goosebumbs. Awesome Band .
