Billy Idol - Mother Dawn Lyrics

Hold me, hold me
Breathe the light into me
Hold me, hold me
Mother dawn
Mother dawn

Dancing 'round the fire
Circling the flame
Listen to the shadows calling out my name

They say
Rock me like a baby
Cradle me in the light
Bathe me in a rainbow
Sun restore my sight

Hold me, hold me
Breathe the light into me
Hold me, hold me
Mother dawn (All night long yeah)

Hold me, hold me
Breathe the light into me (All night long yeah)
Hold me, hold me
Mother dawn

Look into the light

Come and take a journey through the land of night
Darkness strokes the face and
Steals away the sight
Night is all around me
Stars are in my hair
I feel them tangled in the secrets we'll
find hidden there all right
Reaching through the madness
To the other side
Where the sun is rising
With her arms held wide

Hold me, hold me
Breathe the light into me
Hold me, hold me
Mother dawn (All night long yeah)
(Till the dawn light comes)

Hold me, hold me
Breathe the light into me (All night long yeah)
Hold me, hold me
Mother dawn (All night long)
(I know you're gonna love me)
(I know you're gonna love me)

One star flew against the tapestry of the night
And the earth revolved in perfect symmetry
To a symphony of sun
The moon danced its final bow
As the birth of day
Exploded
In my eyes

Reaching through the madness
To the other side
Where the sun is rising
With her arms held wide

Rock me like a baby
Cradle me in light
You're gonna bathe me in a rainbow
And the sun restore my sight

Hold me, hold me
Breathe the light into me
Hold me, hold me
Mother dawn

Hold me, hold me (All night long yeah)
Breathe the light into me
(Till the dawn light comes yeah)
Hold me, hold me (All night long yeah)
Mother dawn (I know you're gonna love me yeah)
I know you're
Gonna love me
All night long yeah
Till the dawn light comes
All night long yeah
I know you're gonna love me love me
All night long yeah
Till the dawn light comes
All night long yeah
I know you're gonna love me love me
Mother dawn

Billy Idol Mother Dawn Comments
  1. B.... G....

Ok, I'm in utter confoundment. I've seen a review of it from Todd In The Shadows, and from the way he says it, this album allegedly ruined Billy Joel's career. Now, I expected the comment section to be filled with negativity, but, to my surprise, I'm seeing praise. I do have the album because I became enamored with the cyberpunk renaissance. I might listen to the album in full someday. From what I've seen here, there is such a thing as optimistic cyberpunk.

    B.... G....

    Billy Joel?!?

  2. I.... 4....

Wunder schoen danke bily du bist unsere

  3. M.... M....

best cd ever ahead of its time

  4. M.... M....

    wow i love this song

  5. 5.... ....

For me this a another great example of how abominably biased people are.
They just integrate what the puppet master tells them to. If he says 'thumbs up'  they cheer like silly kids, if they say 'thumbs down' they rant like the worst of human kind.
People are pretty disgusting actually. If you take a good look, miserable scum.
Enjoy this wonderful album that stands out,  did and always will.
Nothing comparable- it's like a great audio book from track 1-20.
Those who know, those open and welcoming art, new, old & avantgarde whatever, as long as it's good and this album is fantastic .
    Cheers !

+59mar Alot of people said it was shit at the time but I didnt care. I loved it and listened to it so many times I lost count.

  6. J.... M....

best music ever wish we could be living in a computer reality by now

  7. M.... R....

I bought this CD way back in the 1990's. It really captured the mood back then of the possible future of the Internet. The CD was supposed to have image files mixed in between the tracks and those could only be viewed using a computer CD player.

  8. A.... D....

A much criticised but grossly under rated album.

    A.... D....

Several strikes of genius, still: the album attracts criticism, some of what I hear I find almost unethical

  9. F.... G....

.... but who sings at the beginning ??? brian may ???

    F.... G....

... it seems even his guitar at the beginning .....

    F.... G....

    durga mcbroom

    F.... G....

+Francesco Gerace   as 59mar says...its durga McBroom , her of blue pearl , naked in the rain

    F.... G....

If it was Brian May, this album would not be so underrated.

  10. b.... b....

This is a brilliant album, Billy ws heavy on the H when he made this and frankly its one of his most brilliant and clever albums. Genius is always on the ragged edge of madness. Billy managed to ride that edge. My friend had this CD and I loved it instantly and had to have it! Still listen to it with alarming frequency.

    b.... b....

Sorry for being dumb here but is H heroin?

    b.... b....

@Nightshade4711 Yep. It's always good to seek information.

    b.... b....

    @Nightshade4711
yes and keep your fingers off it.

  11. A.... N....

I absolutely agree that this album is a gem. Unfortunately, social criticism and spirituality weren't so much a thing of the 90's. ;)

  12. g.... ....

I adore your music and voice... I used to listen to the Blue Pearl version all the time.. still do :)

  13. d.... ....

Why shouldn't I thank people? I don't call that vain, I call it polite.

  14. s.... ....

If your the real person singing, than why are you commenting on your song? talk about vanity

  15. b.... ....

When I was young (we're talking 4 or 5) I had a HUGE crush on him.

  16. s.... ....

    Isnt he punk rock

  17. d.... ....

Thanks for all the kind comments. This is Billy and I singing a duet of a song I wrote with Youth. There is a video of my solo version - Blue Pearl, "Mother Dawn".

    d.... ....

durgadiva I love this song with every fiber of my being. Always wondered who wrote it and your voice is amazing. Great combo with the always amazing Billy Idol. Brilliant!!!

    d.... ....

WOOOHOIOOO!!! have no idea if you're still checking comments, but just in case you are, Thank you for this, i bought this album when it came out, and have replaced it several times. THIS song was not only fun to listen to, it was also my Alarm clock song off and on for several years! ... and it may have just made a come back.... This has to be top 3 of the tracks on that album, awesome, thanks!

  18. w.... ....

@Newsensation1978 billy is rock and roll

  19. N.... ....

@Steril707 ALL billy is one huge underappreciated gem. I mean he's got THE music, THE looks, and THE rocker style.

  20. w.... ....

i wish he would hold me.

  21. G.... E....

look into the light.he still rocks, yes sir.

  22. w.... ....

@CoyotesPaw one can only hope friend coyote.

  23. D.... R....

I was into the early 90's cyberpunk culture, and as wrong as Billy Idol was about how we'd be drawn together, I'd like to believe he was only wrong about the timing. That we'd see our superficial technoculture for what it is, and rise above it before the autotuned masses define our current pop culture.

  24. w.... ....

i would love to have seen a video for this one.

  25. a.... ....

    That statement is SO TRUE.
Billy idol is Ahead of his time

what we wrote about in 1993 is happening TODAY

    good luck world

  26. w.... ....

oh hell no. wait ok very being crapass lame but then it gets good.

  27. a.... m....

classic underrated concept album, with durga mcbroom on backing, dancing in the rain from the 80s

  28. a.... m....

    classic underrated concept album,

  29. M.... S....

i fell in love with this album in the early 90's when it first came out. I bought it when it first came out and had it stolen..but karma was looking out for me as i came across it again in a little second hand music store in Kitchener, Ontario and of course i have had it ever since I even had my stepson want to borrow it I said like hell..i went through hell to get it back over 4 yrs of searching

  30. S.... ....

Sadly, the whole "Cyberpunk"-Album is an underappreciated gem.
He was so much ahead of the time, it's not even funny anymore..

  31. C.... M....

I was lucky enough to Cyberpunk at a used CD store. It's still one of my favorite albums of all time.

  32. M.... 3....

This album goes great with X-men comics: especially early X-force and any related to Cable. This is my favorite Billy Idol, next to Whiplash Smile. I didn't like Devil's Playground very much but it's still an okay album. I used to listen to a lot of billy ibol( and read X-men comics) back in high school while everyone was into Snoop Dogg when he debut onto the scene back in 93'.

  33. A.... N....

go to amazon. com. i recently bought the CD, damn cheap.

  34. S.... J....

I'm still mad that I can't find this CD and no one on limewire has the song.

    S.... J....

    Billy brothers... David's bridal shower...
