Big Star - Give Me Another Chance Lyrics

You feel sad 'cause I got mad
And I'm sorry, I'm sorry
Things I said made things seem bad
But don't worry
'Cause it's gonna be alright now
Be okay
You know I just don't think before I speak

I've been looking for to find
Something to believe in my mind
And I thought it was you

All this time since you've been mine
I've been angry, so angry
Made it known I could make it alone
But I'm changing
And I'm gonna be alright now
Be okay
You know I just woke up and I see the way

Don't give up on me so fast
I see it's me that's wrong at last
Give me another chance

It's so hard just to stay alive each day
I really can't go on this way, oh no
Oh no

Hey

Don't give up on me so fast
I see it's me that's wrong at last
Give me another chance

  5. Richard Albert Henderson

    Pure beauty.

  6. Degree7

    Is that a mellotron?

  7. Tony C.

    Now here
    'Now here's a genuine classic.

  8. Franco Biggi

#1 Record's best tune, by far...

  9. Bill Paxman

The harmonies make me feel all gooey.

  10. Don Ball

I listen to hip-hop music mainly I'm feeling this tho

    rodriguez reyes

Don Ball This is a cool song to feel! Check out "thirteen" if you haven't already! "Would you be an outlaw for my love" is one of the most poetic lines ever written!

    Don Ball

It's good check out I'm in love with girl

  11. bart surmin

The best band that never was?...........there soooooo good, sad that only the drummer is left

  12. Autumn Childhood

Even after years, sometimes you don't know a song is about you until it is. Every word rings true, cuts like a knife. Thank you, Chris and Alex.

  13. Buck Kahuna

This is heavy Chris Bell's style.

  14. Anthony Hunt

Chris and Alex were the perfect foils for each others music. Beautiful on so many levels......

  15. Susan Edrington

I think Chris wrote this tune. Beautiful.......

    Buck Kahuna

+Susan Edrington It sure sounds like it. Peace and Love.

  16. flagemdown66

I just made a connection... this song evolved from a song off of Alex's first solo album called "Every Day As We Grow Closer". It has similar elements in it at certain points.

  17. Charlie Rosado

It's too bad Alex never got to play that last show at South by Southwest. What might've been..

  18. Adam

This song has nowhere near enough views. Absolutely beautiful.

  19. KissMySuccotash

Although I've been listening to my favorites cover their songs for decades, I really just found this band yesterday thanks to Youtube. Now I'm obsessed with them and their music. Anyone who wants the background on this incredible underrated band should watch the documentary "Big Star: Nothing Can Hurt Me."

  20. Tom Shaw

    Their very best IMHO.

    undertherainbow

@Tom Shaw Agree that this is their best song. The vocal harmonies are simply breathtaking as well.

  21. zonkster909

    Just wow.

  22. Brendan Murphy

Beautiful music. I hear the Beatles and Elliott. But mostly just Chilton. One of a kind.

    undertherainbow

@Brendan Murphy Beach Boys harmonies for me. It's Chilton singing lead, yes, but Chris Bell is co-writer here and after he left you don't get sublime vocal harmonies quite like these in the subsequent Big Star albums.

    Harry Lime

Surely you know that Eliott (Smith I guess you mean) came long after these guys.

    r brooks williams

@Harry Lime He could mean the great Elliott Murphy. (Maybe he's related.)

    Stucifer

Chris Bell's influence was as important as Chiltons

  23. Raul Monzon

I just got "Sister Lovers" in the mail. Finding such musical gems is like fulfilling a bucket list. I own a lot of music and people ask me if I play. I say, "No, I'm just an avid listener. There are  a lot of us and there a lot who can play some. Then there musicians, and then there the "Gifted". Those precious few whose songs and albums endure year after year. I cling to those albums. This song is a beautiful thumbnail sketch of this ensemble's works. So many make it big, but their works loose the luster so quickly. How does one explain the increasing appeal of a particular band? It continues to the point that we miss them so much, but are grateful for their contributions. My life may not be better for listening to such a band as Big Star, but I will say that my life is fuller for having listened to them and will to continue to appreciate their canon of melodies. Their songs touch deeply and I am better for that. Thank you so much for putting this out and thank you Big Star.

  24. Justin Beck

Just discovered these guys today. Already listened to eery album. Absolutely incredible music

  25. bill woodell

...AMAZING,,,,  'Big Star'.... Southern Beatles..   :)

  26. Andrew Moore

I'm currently obsessed with this band. Its amazing they didn't make it big back then. The irony in a band name. Now i see why I like Wilco.

  27. somuchface

I'm currently obsessed with this song

    Marley Vaught

    Yay man

  28. samansun

What ' Power Pop' ? Is this Kiss or Sweet ? Do not credit everything you see on the internet.

  29. Paul Rosin

I lick this music out of the air. Big Star is forever and EVER ... All three albums are just so deep, so great, I worship these albums, Chris Bell and Alex Chilton were so perfect together, they just blow me away ...

  30. Mark Di Marzio

its just so good.. unbelievably good in fact!

  31. lyonslaforet

Probably because power pop wasn't trendy in the first half of the seventies.

  32. Todd Kolod

Big Star can be incredibly proud of this tune!

  33. zonkster909

The underrated of the underrated. GMAC is as good as any ballad from the golden age of pop.

  34. Sam Lawrence

This band does not get the attention they deserve :(
