Big Country - Wonderland Lyrics

It’s If you could feel how I must feel
The winds of quiet change
If you could see what I must see
Still hidden in the rain
But when the thunder rolls
It comes and covers up my soul

And you will take my hand
And be with me in wonderland
I am an honest man
I need the love of you
I am a working man
I feel the winter too

If you could hear what I must hear
Then nothing would replace
The fifty years of sweat and tears
That never left a trace
But when I look at you
I see you feel the same way too

And you will take my hand
And be with me in wonderland
I am an honest man
I need the love of you
I am a working man
I feel the winter too

You still remember other days
When every head was high
I watched that pride be torn apart
Beneath a darker sky
With innocence within ourselves
We sing the same old song

And you will take my hand
And make believe it’s wonderland
I need the love of you
I am a working man
I feel the winter too
I am an honest man
I need the love of you
I am a working man
I feel the winter too

Wonderland, wonderland, wonderland…

I was 13 or 14 when this came out. Us young urban English boys could relate to blokes like Stuart. He was one of us, someone to look up to. RIP mate - you was loved...

    Sergio Rivera

Same here I remember when I first heard of them at that time in my Middle School days.

  18. Steve Gasparutti

If only the 2nd album had been as good as the first they may have been up there with U2

    John Macintyre

Steeltown was just as good, that Irish shite U2 sold out to commercialism, they were not as good musically as big country

Even as an Irish man I would put Big Country’s first two albums head and shoulders ahead of anything U2 ever did. As the Edge said at Stuart’s funeral “ Big Country wrote the songs that U2 couldn’t “....... by the way Steeltown is just as beautiful as The Crossing.

    Michael Bragg

The second album actually debuted at No. 1

Heard 'In a Big Country'. Was blown away. Went into the record shop with my brother and asked for the record. "Have you ever heard of some band called Big Country?" the guy asked his colleague. We were gobsmacked. Glad to have seen them a few times. One of the best, ever.

  25. Nicholas Blakeney
