Between The Buried And Me - Turn On The Darkness Lyrics
The winters grieve evenly
Flickering moments engage our senses
Slowly trembling and venting
They won't take notice
We turn out backs on ourselves
Nothing in sight
The Sighting:
I see a flame erupt in the distance
The charted course towards my direction
A wealth of moving light, they now seek my disguise
Legs soon crack as they stand above/below
"Where do you drift from sir?
This land is for those who have lost
Our humanity has passed its course
we roam with all that’s left"
I come from a movable past
A distant future is in my grasp
You all will survive this fate
Trust the man you gaze
Take me with your flames
Darkness
Show the brighter way
Hopeless
Take in all. Sit with our teachings
Above. Below
Take in all
Above. Below
Sit with our teachings
Dream tonight to push us forward
Black ash improves me. Dark skies are hollow.
Above. Below
Take in all
Above. Below
Sit with our teachings
Dream tonight to push us forward
Black ash improves me
Can't look past the damage to this life
Dark skies are hollow
Can't look past the damage to this life
The Torchbearer:
"Welcome to our journey. Please walk with me
I'll put your mind at ease
Our breath disrupts their flames
We walk through their walls
Life exists apart from this."
The lone world drifts on and on
In the distant light modern man awaits
Dripping jaw accept our twisted travel
Lose focus
Screaming grins howl loud from high
a gritty focus gripped
We turn our backs on ourselves
Nothing is sight
We turn our backs on ourselves
They won't take notice

Between The Buried And Me Turn On The Darkness Comments
8:14 Bruh, is that the bassist playing the keyboard? This band blows my mind
Yeah Dan has had quite a few key sections since The Great Misderect i believe, before that it was only Tommy on keys.
Where I can buy the DVD other than from iTunes?
Nod Opeth
Wow, what an interesting and intriguing band. So many twists and turns.
For god's sake i can't stop playing the replay button!!
3:02 LED ZEPPELIN VIBES
Dan is wearing shoes nowadays? Don't know how to feel about this.
Reading these comments I can see why bands hate their fans. If you’re under 25, you don’t have an opinion. Just shut up and listen to the music. You’re giving bands a bad rep.
Try this new wonderful experimental musical project! Be curious!

Never knew Howard Moon could shred
eh.....i guess i get to be the guy to say that i liked the silent circus better that whatever the hell i'm listening to now.........
Yeah don't know what you're hearing
4:38 dat ass
Every member of this band takes the spot for my personal favorite drummer, guitarist duo, and bass player. Tommy's vocals are amazing in my opinion. But folks, can we take just a moment to really recognize Dan fucking Briggs? That dudes got to have the busiest and dynamic bass lines and dude doesnt miss a note. Plus, his writing input is heavy in a lot of their songs. Paul of course is my favorite lead guitarist and dusty is my favorite rhythm/ accompanying lead guitarist. Buff jesus is just the God of all things drums. They're consistently creative and original in all their works, they dont do drugs, and they are all healthy in their friendship. Basically, we could be enjoying btbam for a very very long time, and I gotta say, that's something i can live for definitely. Been to 4 shows. They. Just. Do. Not. Mess. Up. A. Single. Part.
Discipline.
This is why they are my favorite band/artists of all time. Been with em since circus.
Fat tune
I really loved this bands 1st and 2nd album after that it went to shit in my opinion...
I couldn't agree with you more.
Tommy is so handsome
It’s so goooooood!
2:32 to 4:15 is so good
just like the studio version :P
John Wick kicking some serious ass on vox here
They may be the greatest band live. This album has really grown on me and I just LOVE IT ALLLLLLL
They will always be my fav metal band.
2:52 I'm glad Paul made a mistake playing that spot, makes me feel better about always screwing it up when I play it.
There is so much Dream Theater in this.
I fucking love this band.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ .v. YES::: . :::bASICeXxXPOSURE::: . ::: . !|i|! . ::: .v. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
holy that part starting at 2:32 is some of the best shit ive ever heard. btbam rules
Tommy sounds REALLY good here
I would feel better about myself if Blake Richardson would just fuck up ONCE
Pretty sure they're all robots fed with midi-files. I can't find any other explanation for them being so on point.
Dan Briggs \m/
When you realize paul is feeling it
Makes us want to give up playing music..
noper ....not feeling this...it blows
Noper ...not feeling this...it blows...
As far as highly technical and progressive music, and a surreal way to make all types of sounds mesh together in a magnificent and beautiful way, there's really no match to this band, as of today.
this is epic! reminds me of Hungry Lights
This is the greatest band to ever exist.
Alright I'm fucking done, I gotta go guys.
6:50 stop, just stop
There's gonna be a tribute band after most of these guys are long gone.
And it's gonna be epic
Brit Floyd epic
I was at this show! It was super rad! The only downside was that they didn't do an encore. Given that they only played the newest material and nothing else, that was kind of a bummer. Still a great show though!
Happy to say I was able to attend this show. Only issue was the venue wasn't full, though not entirely surprising for a Tuesday night though.
Love the AIC vibes in 07:22 :D
just dont become BMTH
informal gluttony
Dan briggs everybody
Nick Franzini Nice Plini pic.. saw him Animals As Leaders, incredible. Can't wait to see Sithu Aye in September too
with haken!
I'd like a better mixing for Tommy's vocals...
Love this band, love this album, I just wish they weren't so obsessed with having a backing track for every little sound and nuance that is on the album. Plus spots where I hear keys but no one playing them. They're an amazing band, I wish I could just hear the live-ness :/
how good they sound live is amazing, as good or better than studio versions
no wonder why they are so quick with album releases
they can literally record everything together 1st shot and get this quality
Can we just get this but only Blake Richardson? The whole DVD I mean.
Nice mixo acoustic jam. That guitarist is truly gifted. I'm kinda' pissed/jealous lol.
Sweet baby Jesus I love this album.
You can see the back of my stupid head up front. It's almost the exact opposite of the videos on my channel, you can watch me watch a show.
hate to say it but this album sucks. in their quest to gain new fans they compromised some of their edge. they only succeeded in turning their old fans away. I got free tickets to this taping because they couldn't sell out. This was my favorite fucking band. what happened?
I really feel the parallax future sequence will be their last great album. this one was damn good but just not up to the caliber of the ones before it. Listen to this album and then play The Great Misdirect, it's missing something when compared to their older work. and I hope Tommy calms down the operatic high style singing. he can make it work in the studio doesn't seem to transition well live. he's perfect at that dreamy ethereal style he's been doing forever now
chineserocks77 ha same here... But i do love the album. Definitely my least favorite show of theirs I've seen... No one likes/knows those songs except for me.. And there was no encore. The free tickets were nice though, huh!?
I've been a fan since Colors. This is my favorite album of theirs, although it's tough to decide between Coma Ecliptic and Parallax sometimes. In my opinion they get better, and push themselves musically, with every album.
Maybe true for yourself... but don't think you speak for all their fans. I first heard these guys in 2002, and first saw them live the following year at Ace's Basement. 16 years, going from your early 20s to your late 30s... it does a lot to shift your world views and ideas, most of them are married and have kids now... you can't be mad because they've grown through life, just the same the rest of us have. I also doubt their stylistic changes from album to album have anything to do with trying to draw scores of new of fans... progressive music of any flavor is a niche genre and not for the masses. They make the albums that seem most true to where they are in life, which is exactly why a lot of their fans have stuck with them this entire journey. Sure there are songs and albums I like less than others... but I appreciate their full library all the same. With bands that play such an eclectic expanse of music, you shouldn't expect every album to be just what you think it should be.. that's fucking selfish and misses the whole point of music in the first place.
Hey, I found the metal purist
Damn.. That was awesome! Never listened to them but I must say, it's a lot better than I expected. Reminds me a lot of Opeth.
BTBM are very good musicians and they have really fantastic production. Everything sound perfect. Orchestraion is awesome.
Oh my god video's so well produced. Cant wait to pay..!
screams are weak af
yaaaaawwwwwn
beginning reminds me of ghost
this is the music you hear at a clown festival
Like a circus?
i wish they'd write new guitar parts instead of rehashing old ones
i hate to admit it, i don't pay as much attention to this band as i should. but now i do.
excelent performance, but i feel it sound less massive than the studio version
They are all secretly trying to turn into Jesus look-alikes. Haha. Metal Jesi?
been a fan since the beginning . they never cease to amaze me .love seeing bands like this grow and transition into bands that will stand the tests of musical time...
damn first time i see TGR's hair that long
please someone tell tommy not to cup the mic
COME TO CHILE PLS !!!!
if only they sounded this good live...
I know hey are awesome musicians, they dont miss a single note. I saw the a few months ago, and the overall sound had nothing to do with the dvd
lol get the fuck outta here.
I noticed the same thing - they suffer from poor mixing during their live shows (last time I saw them, Blake's kick was waaaaay too high in the mix). I just want to hear Dan like I can here!
mellamoignacio Oh, I thought you were talking about the playing for a sec. Bad live mixes are usually the venue's fault, but yeah that sucks
@Brady Ward Yeah I saw Tesseract in Sydney recently, and they made the entire night a wall of bass. Tesseract thankfully came out sounding a bit more refined than the other two bands but it was still ridiculously loud.
i think the project #giles might display a tommy rogers leaning to #korn, though i could be wrong and however irrelevant here, this is btbam beauty, as though their more recent work has been a returnal to very early sounds and demos, orchestration and symphony of otherworldly proportion
if you ever went to the opera, would this not be the rendering you would desire, all pompous and sophisticated but down to earth and not being bruce wayne parents in high-waisted coats and pearls - tonight i think no one died and the entanglement of men one against the other led to the appropriate person protecting a love held beneath so many others, perhaps not even his own
Ambien transfixed. Praise be the Walrus One.
Heyyyyyy I was there! Awesome show, though a bit short :P
Goddamn Tommy's live vocals have improved SO MUCH since Coma dropped!!!
Woah how long ago did these guys change their sound?. Been out of the loop for awhile.
Bisskits the newest album has been the most drastic change. Still sounds great imo
Bisskits yeah their new album has the most drastic change. but i wouldn't have it any other way. the new direction is incredible
Awesome..
Blakey eats steaky
man I need to see these guys live
hey the drummer look like dave novoselic during he's younger days...or is it just me?
It's just you.
This is not thst good. Just goes to show that some people don't know metal from whatever this is.
Unguided Reaper Including you apparently
It's totally cool if you don't like it. Doesn't mean its not metal.
I would actually love to hear your reasoning as to why you don't consider this "metal". Not being smarmy here, I'm just genuinely interested.
Unguided Reaper Its progressive metal, no need to listen to it if you dont like.
Forget the fcking labels, "urrr dis iz not metooool, dis is bad", and leave the music progress
All hail Heavy Metal Jesus
CheezisChrust No, that's John Petrucci
Never been happier to share the same name with someone
if your middle name is Giles id give you a high five.
haha, thats awesome
this doesn't sound like btbam
Eric Dufresne Then go listen to their older albums, this band doesnt want to make the same music over and over again
@Lugal Ki En I have listened to their older work. And colors was the one that I noticed the drastic change.
Yeah this new shit sucks. Their best works are self titled through colors
can't wait to see them on tour for colors anniversary
TIIIIGHT
I can't believe I missed the Coma full set.
Kevin Marquardt me either so pissed at myself for not making it
I went to the show and figured they were headlining instead of Townsend so I walked in on the set at the half way mark. I was pretty sad, and now I can't listen to Townsend with out being a sadboi
Damn I'm not a drummer but that triple hit at 7:42 was intense.
that was 4 hits on the snare haha
Nice. His drumming is so fast I missed it haha.
Those are 4 flams! :D
NEIL SAEL would u happen to know if the flams were intentional or was that a mess up?
I would say intentional.
I honestly don't like how the vocals were mixed on this. It sucks because the rest of the band sounds awesome.
Alkalilee It sounds WAY better than the live shows did, man. I saw them back in October and the mix and sound was utter shit. I was bummed because I love this band so much.
been out of it for 10 years, this is great to come back to.
Saw them perform on thi tour, fantastic
Is it strange to be a straight man and feel myself sexually attracted by Tommy?
Rafael Cabral
Can't blame ya. Tommy is perfection.
I find him very attractive and also identify as straight!
saw them live the week before. easily one of the best shows I've ever been to.
1:19 tommy whiffs so hard on the keys here. He's just like "who needs tempo?"
sounds so good for live.
Turn on the dankness.
