Between The Buried And Me - Memory Palace Lyrics

Awake me
Stoic and ready. Living in levity
Static entry

Chatter has left me. A statue grown
With intentions from my own
I stutter on. Key driven
A swollen breeze insults me
The scent of a natural place

Chatter has left me. A statue grown
With intentions from my own
I stutter on. Key driven
Horrid thoughts finally leave me
Dismiss the notion of the unwanted force

Static entry. Alone and free

Awake me
I never want to get out of here
Visions of my past will disappear
I never end

Focus on melody
The sounds under my eyes
Dreaming inside of this world inside my mind
Drift on
Never end

Static exit. Animate

Tubes swim with my veins
An orchestra of lights graze over my corpse
Our souls are melting
Immobilized limbs secret liquid smoke
Fill the room with fear
A losing act draws in the final wake
Overcome "the end"

I did not. I did not want to come back
I did not... Take me back

It’s over...

I sit drenched in the summary of my past
Live in the name of the ghost
I drift on

Focus on melody
The sounds under my eyes
Dreaming inside of this world inside my mind
Drift on
Never end

Between The Buried And Me Memory Palace Comments
  1. S.... R....

what kind of dream theater is this?

  2. C.... ....

    1:44 -> 2:40 Best part in this song. ♥

  3. R.... A....

reminds me of the mars volta. anyone else think this album is similar to deloused, in terms of the story that it tells.

  4. D.... M....

These guys are consistently great and you never get the same album twice.

  5. d.... ....

you do this to another one of btbam's videos Metal Blade I'll downvote automatically!

  6. N.... S....

If you're disappointed for the lack of breakdowns, here's one at 7:01.

  7. W.... C....

Not shitty or anything but they don't seem heavy enough to open for something like summer slaughter, then again that's just an opinion.

    W.... C....

    Listen to Alaska or mordicai.

  8. B.... U....

Basically, they have mutilated modern prog (DT and TMV, mostly), mixed it with some old school stuff (60/70s' psychedelic and prog), added some of their former sound (to soften the mixture and make it palatable to the oldschool fans) and swallowed all at once. Then they regurgitated it and BAM! COMA ECLIPTIC WAS BORN. True story.

  9. W.... ....

5:21 - 5:43 is the best part of this song

  10. T.... H....

    I love this shit.

  11. R.... W....

    Absolute genius!

  12. X.... ....

If you like BTBAM and especially the second half of this song, you should definitely check out Native Construct, they're amazing and deserve more recognition!

  13. C.... ....

Great song but the video format effects kind of ruins the mood. Reminds me of the less unique metalcore bands out there. But when I dont look at the video its a great song.

  14. j.... m....

    What a great prog record.
I've listened to this record maybe a hundred times.

  15. c.... ....

It's like if you mixed Tool with My Chemical Romance. Not crunchy enough for me.

  16. K.... B....

My son turned me on to you, YOU GUYS FREAKIN' ROCK!!!!!!!!

  17. l.... ....

yesss I like this tune very much!!! between the buried and me kick butt!

  22. B.... P....

Yea Ive been thinking what happened?!?! This isnt the band i grew up with !!! They were crazy back in the day. talking over 10 years ago now!! Like songs like Alaska! Those were intense Songs!! This is not them any more!!! This is more mainstreamed now!

  23. Z.... M....

5:15 I never though a metal song could sound funny until I reached this point in this song!

  24. G.... M....

    sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo gooooooooooooooooooooooooooddddddd

  25. p.... m....

Just heard this for the 1st one on seaton hall radio station 89.5. Such a good one at that!

  26. T.... ....

The more i listen to this song the more i love it, best song on Coma Ecliptic

  27. M.... B....

    7:48 Pink Floyd

  28. W.... C....

Is memory palace a metaphor for orgasm? Sounds like the special place of an amazing oral experience

    W.... C....

damn! u are truly a pervert

    W.... C....

oskrrr92 that truly went over your head!

    W.... C....

just enjoy this song which is fucking amazing

    W.... C....

oskrrr92 i do! point of my comment... this band is in my top 5...

    W.... C....

as far as I know, memory palace is technic for memorization

  29. B.... B....

After hearing this for the 1st time ever, I have decided it might be a really good idea to go to the show tonight at The Marquee in Tempe, AZ

  30. D.... F....

10 days until I get to see BTBAM and Devin Townsend in Spokane, WA!

    D.... F....

    Sounds amazing...

    D.... F....

Saw them both in Seattle about 2 weeks ago. Good stuff.

    D.... F....

    Hell yeah

    D.... F....

Paul is my idol after that show . I was drooling over his solos and leads all night

  31. A.... H....

To those who disliked this. Pick up a guitar you fruitcake and play me something better!

    A.... H....

Aaron Hendrix That's a terrible argument.

    A.... H....

While I agree with your sentiments that's really a shitty logic. So If you make me some food and i say it's shitty you would challenge me to make something better. You are way ahead on your music taste but your brain and logic are far behind it though.Stop listening to music and see if you can do any logic puzzle.

  32. W.... C....

that muthaphukn organ is the schidt!

  33. A.... A....

incredible! everything in this song is amazing it s my best discover since i discovered dream theater (sorry for my english)

  34. P.... ....

Roger´s voice is fucking messed up

  35. E.... N....

    7:03 F*ck Yeah dude

  36. A.... A....

A mixture of porcupine tree, dream teather, mars volta, tool.... which unexpectedly sounds good

    A.... A....

I can hear a bit of David Gilmour as well haha

  37. o.... ....

7:48 to the end is so magical, i mean i never heard something like that

  38. o.... ....

    this song is pure gold!!

  39. T.... J....

Everytime I listen to a BTBAM song, my mind is blown

    T.... J....

    same, bro

  40. L.... D....

    i love this song

  41. J.... ....

Kind of like the Mars Volta of metal? The song is long and varies a lot throughout

    J.... ....

Rofl if you think this song varies a lot, you'll have a blast listening to the rest of BTBAM. This is one of their less constantly changing songs haha

    J.... ....

Try Obfuscation or even an earlier song... Selkies

    J.... ....

Man, Selkies is a rollercoaster. First song I heard from them, left a huge impact. To answer OP's question, definitely. Both bands explore fringe ideas musically and lyrically. Both really enjoy concept albums, telling a story through an album, and/or just letting an album be one or two songs that span multiple tracks.

    J.... ....

Obfuscation isn't that progressive- if you want progressive, listen to White Walls, Mordecai, Ants of the Sky, or my favorite... *SWIM TOOOO THEEEEE MOOOOOOOOOOOOON!*

  42. E.... S....

Missed hearing them play last night because of a fucking parking ticket. Didn't even get to see any of the members on stage. That was a horrible day :(

  43. A.... ....

Stop fucking growling. You've got a nigh masterpiece, then you go and fucking spoil it with shitty metalcore influences.

    A.... ....

Screaming or growling has been done longgg before metalcore was even a thing

  44. A.... R....

    Celestial shit... awesome!!!

  45. K.... ....

Nah ni nah Nah ni nah 🎶

  46. S.... B....

For any one new or old to Between the buried & me who think they sound like this...or that must visit The anatomy of. This cover album will give you some much needed in site on their influences that has shaped and evolved this band. Each album stands on its own and though you can always draw comparisons from time to time, album to album, they always deliver a exceptionally unique listening experience.
I saw a few negative comments stating,in a nutshell, that after Colors each album became "formulated" or "repetitive". I couldn't disagree more. Yes they could have continued riding the success of that album, but they succeeded it with Misdirection. Not only is it a heavier body of work, slightly less theatrical, but also leans to a more technical representation of their craft.
This band to me is the Epiphany of what artistry stands for, and I always look forward with anticipation for each and every album release!

  47. C.... ....

this reminds me of Mega Man X for some reason.

  48. T.... G....

This should be played every place I travel. can't wait for ABRBTBAM

    T.... G....

    hell yeah!!! sexybrutal!!!

  49. S.... C....

    So good.

  50. K.... G....

NANANAAA NANANAAA WAAANT TO COOOME BACK

  51. C.... K....

I get such a Mars Volta vibe from this , I love it

  52. J.... T....

    Nevertheless its awesome

  53. J.... T....

i think they did a thorough research over Pale Communion before making this

  54. J.... T....

    More like Opeth

  55. S.... K....

i sense a tinge of the mars volta

  56. H.... ....

methinks the title is a Hannibal reference

  57. J.... N....

The part at 5:06 is the only FUCKIN PART I HATE. like what he HELL, ladida ladida ladida I WANNA GO BACk okay then go back ya little bish like smh holy

    J.... N....

You must be new to the band. They pull weird shit like that all the time.

    J.... N....

Also, it's "I did not, I did not want to come back/ I did not want... take me back!"

  58. A.... T....

You know, this is fucking awesome. I've listened to one other song by them and I didn't care for that one, but this one rocks my cock.

  59. S.... O....

They are more prog than metalcore now... i like that

  60. S.... P....

who would love to see BTBAM and The Sword tour together....

    S.... P....

+Seth Parker They're both playing Carolina Rebellion this year

  61. L.... P....

In this song there are prog rock, prog metal, math rock, mathcore, avant-garde metal, hard rock, psychedelic rock, heavy psych, moments with acoustic guitar or electric guitar with unusual effects...
    Great!!!

    L.... P....

    That's BTBAM for you.

  62. E.... L....

I do not understand why I do not like anything. For some few it is awesome for me is shit

  63. D.... S....

If Porcupine Tree and Dream Theater had a baby... and PT was the father, and DT the mother.... and the baby would look like it's father.... then that baby would rule the world, and the name of the baby would be Memory Palace.

  64. R.... H....

I really love the new record. It’s not my favorite by them, but it’s really close. I love how they’re writing more straightforward songs now (still a lot weirder than most bands though) but still manage to sound unique. Pick any 10 seconds of the record and you can tell it’s BTBAM. I love if it if a band has this quality. If you want to check out another band that has a really unmistakable sound, listen to Pregnant Whale Pain. Awesome riffs, great songwriting and an outstanding vocalist with a huge range. Dog Fashion Disco is really unique aswell. Both bands are relatively unknown, but definitely worth checking out.

    R.... H....

+Ross Hart Pregnant Whale Pain is incredible, huge props for the rec (and damn thatsinger is good, sounds like the son of Rody Walker and Layne Staley), but Dog
Fashion Disco sounds a lot like Mr. Bungle to me.

    R.... H....

+Auqarutan I agree to an extent, Bungle has definitely influenced them a lot, (and the singer is generally doing many Patton-esque things), but I think they're still managing to take all their influences and turn them into something fresh. But overall I'd pick PWP over DFD too.

  65. n.... ....

The part at 7:40 for a minute, is pure bliss

  66. D.... S....

    sounds like shitty mars volta

  67. C.... T....

    garbage

  68. A.... J....

For some reason the guitars at the very end remind me of Green Day

  69. J.... G....

Brutal lo que estos tipos hacen 💀🔫👏🏾

  70. D.... R....

    BTBAM Rulezz, best record yet!!!!

  71. J.... D....

Reminds me of the Dream Theater album Train of Thought in both sound and feel. This track especially feels like In the Name of God to me.

  72. J.... C....

Not bad, definitely not my favorite from these guys. But it's pleasant to listen to.

    J.... C....

+Jayo Caine this song picks up as it goes along i'm surprised at the detail and cohesion here

  73. J.... H....

This is one of my favorite songs from the new album. Really cool song, super fun song structure and awesome ideas.

This is the BTBAM I have been waiting for. Parallax was great, but in a different way.

  74. M.... N....

wow, great musicians.Total prog metal intro.I wish i could play that good...keep it positive people...love it !!!

  75. S.... G....

It's alright but I prefer their old sound. probably will avoid this album honestly

  76. j.... l....

my gf saw my shirt tonight and thought it said Burrito Meat....bless her heart

  77. N.... Y....

I love the old BTBAM, I really do. But I also really like this album and I think that's ok. It does represent a change for them and if they continue down this path I will miss the hectic, frenetic mashup which drew me to them, but I still dig this style of things as well. I feel a little bit though that this is more of a road well traveled by bands lately, but it's okay because they are still making interesting music.

  78. D.... D....

the 0:45 riff has striking similarities to a riff in Mary Jane by Megadeth

    D.... D....

    Hangar 18?

  79. A.... T....

The parts all in early minute 8:00 sound like Steven Wilson. I never liked BtBaM's heavy stuff because it always sounds like scrambly bullshit to me, so I actually really like this.

  80. D.... W....

The Ken Burns movement on the images ruined it. Cool tune though.

  81. D.... ....

Such a change from their first album... But I love it nevertheless
They've gone from basically borderline progressive death metal/deathcore, Metalcore and progressive rock, with brutal and chaotic vocals to more of a progressive metal/rock with a few (almost randy Blythe sounding) screams and the rest being really awesome clean vocals
I'm not sure which i like more

  82. M.... ....

    Good stuff

  83. a.... ....

pinkfloyd / rush / queen & fucking metal all in one (for me ), mental

  84. O.... ....

hells yeah.. done deal, Amazoned this on the spot.. prime.

  85. H.... ....

Getting a huge Dream Theater vibe here. Awesome stuff

  86. J.... S....

I Iisten to this garbage and then go back to more of myself to kill, and white walls and wonder how they are the same band.

  87. F.... ....

    Ahahahahah oh wow
    this is so bad
if this is what prog is nowadays, god help us all

    F.... ....

    +Flood go fuck yourself fatass

    F.... ....

    @Joe Johnson
I've already tried by all my fat prevent me from reaching my anus

  88. J.... K....

4:55 are some of the weakest screams this band have put out :(

  89. E.... W....

Never was a huge BTBAM fan until I heard this album! Shit is on fire!

  90. 2.... ....

I like this song more every time I hear it. Full cd live please!

  91. B.... ....

    More generic progressive rock, woooo!

    B.... ....

    @Bojoschannel nope not generic.

    B.... ....

    +Joe Johnson Quite

  92. r.... r....

Better than nearly everything they've done

  93. B.... S....

I think BTBAM needs to completely eliminate scream

    B.... S....

    @Bryce Steagald i disagree

  94. E.... ....

Sounded like pink floyd with screaming

  95. A.... S....

When they dropped Colors, I said that was a dangerous album to release, because it's a difficult album to follow up. But I couldn't take Parallax out of my car's CD player for over a month and from what I'm hearing on this album... These guys are only moving up musically \m/

  96. M.... ....

This album kinda reminds me of Ayreon in some ways

  97. A.... G....

Damnit, BTBAM turned into Dream Theater with a better vocalist...time to change new fav band I guess?

  98. m.... ....

Once again, THANKS LIQUID METAL! I love this tune, totally infectious
