Truly great band. Love 'em forever. Have yet to see them live. Hopefully someday will. I was a kid when they were almost-famous and now as an adult their music still sounds adult. They never got the cred they deserved and they'll always be one of my favorite bands. So great on so many levels. How many songs from that era are as good as WWOZ? Porcelain? They made truly beautiful music, in a golden era of beautiful music. Maybe that's the problem. Music then poured from haven like rain and no one noticed it. But I did. And I've never forgotten. Thank you, Better Than Ezra.

I’d been waiting weeks to hear who did this song on the radio, and finally got my chance one November morning. It was the day of the OSU vs Michigan game, which was like in 90s Columbus.
Regardless, I convinced my best friend Jake Portier to say fuck the game, and we gripped our Dyno BMX bikes, mine was blue with Silver flake graphics, and we rode to thenonly store close enough to see if they had it - a fucking BlockBuster Video.
Luckily enough, they actually had it. It took like every dollar I had saved, but I paid the taxed ass BB price of 17.99 and the album was mine. We rode home, I popped it in my stereo - and Jake looked at me like WTF is this?! I was YEARS ahead of life my age, with vastly more refined musical tastes. But for a long time coming, I was a loser in everyone else’s eyes, until it became cool to be yourself in the 2000s...

The happy ending is there was this beautiful girl in the video with these dreds and these amazing tattoos. She did the video and then we lost touch with her. Then it was maybe 10 years later, she came to a show and she looked great, and she was married and just a normal girl. She was having a kind of wild time in the Quarter living on the streets at one point in her life.
