Okay though I ship Wessa to the max, I feel that this line is directed towards Jem, though Will makes sense too. Whenever Tessa felt upset Jem always seemed to brighten her mood.

When it comes to this line, I think of Will and Jem. Even though he "lost" Jem, they would always be parabatai. And even when Will died, he never truly left Jem. As for united souls, isn't that what it is to have a parabatai?

You know what I really love about this song? Not only does it catch the mood and plot of the Infernal Devices perfectly, but all the verses can be fit to Will/Tessa and Jem/Tessa, and I love that the meaning changes slightly depending on how you look at it. Also the tune is so delicate and the piano is really soothing

I really hide myself from all around me but even though I am broken her music helped me to relize that it's ok it is ok to hurt and feel as though I am falling apart but that it is ok it is ok to be who you are no matter what others might think of you after.

Ooooooh! I just though of a book series. Seraphim would be a series that you could enjoy, and maybe write a song based off of Saraphina’s relationship with Orma. It is a fantasy book that I enjoy, but again, it is your choice at the end of the day.

I have honestly never cried so hard over a series before The Infernal Devices (and I like always cry over my books). And now I'm crying over this music because it's reminding me of all the things that happened and it's such a prefect reflection of the characters. The words are Will, the music is Gem, the a methodic rhythm is Tessa pulling them together and making them steady which is also ironic because she's the one thing that shook their world into an uncorreletaed twist. As the song progresses, the tempo and rythym stays the same, but the words change and move through time. Will was mortal and changed like the words, but Tessa and Jem will be constant as long as they have their immortality. I also loved the part towards the end about looking over at the world and seeing how much it changed, just like the epilogue of Clockwork Princess. Tessa and Jem were there to experience that, but Will knew about it too because he would always watch and be a part of them. Without Will, Tessa, and Jem there would be no story. And without the words, music, or beat, there would be no song.

I just finished the Infernal Devices and I was listening to all your Shadowhunter related songs the entire time. Thank you for your amazing music, its an amazing feeling to know others share my love for the books (and fitting too because of Jem's love of his violin). I have to say, I have never felt so much from a book, let alone an author or series. Its such an odd feeling, I've read thousands of books, like Tessa probably has, yet Cassandra Clare has made me feel more than before. Anyways, the point is this is a perfect song that reflects the books so well, especially the bit about the epilogue. ~kiki

Rather than from Tessa's perspective I feel that I can see this from Will's POV too, maybe even more. How his life turned into an eternal darkness when he was twelve and how Jem; his quite salvation. And how his love for Jem and Tessa is his greatest strength. I can of course see how the lyrics apply to both of them though, but it feels a lot like Will's untold story.

+Allison Graham True, but I do belive she could have done a lot more to ensure everyone in the institute's protection, some of her decisions were plain out stupid and it annoyed me. I feel like if she concentrated on the task at hand instead of having a love life then the book would have gone in a much more intresting direction.

Obviously Cassie didn't give a damn about anyone's opinion. And if anything, I thought Tessa was a beautifully thought out character. She respresented equality for women. She of course wasn't worried about her love life at the time. She had an asshole to catch and kill.

I think when I listen to the song it makes more sense when understood from Will's POV, so when it says 'love was not a choice for me' I understand that love wasn't a choice for him at the start because of his 'curse'. :)
